A tea party and posh street food? Well weren’t Matthew and Kerry’s guests so very lucky to be treated to such delicious sounding cuisine?<\/p>\n

Matthew and Kerry created a laid back wedding in majestic tipis, decked out in reams of homemade bunting. With a vintage feel Kerry donned a tea length polka dot 1950s dress while Matthew wore a dapper cravat and waistcoat combo.<\/p>\n

Teamed with a fantastic DJ and live band the wedding party was entertained to the max.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL<\/p>\n

Matt had been working away for two weeks, on his return he had to go straight to a friend\u2019s stag party. Kerry also had plans for the evening so they went their separate ways. Later that night (3pm) both very drunk they decided to meet up to get a taxi home. Once home due to time differences where Matt had been working they both realised that Matt had not eaten for over 24 hours so they decided to order a pizza.<\/p>\n

The pizza was there in a flash, as Matt was smashing through his second slice Kerry decided to drop the question, yes Kerry asked Matt\u2026. And if you were wondering, the pizza was awful\u2026<\/p>\n

THE VISION<\/p>\n

Laid back vintage tea party with posh street food in tipis.<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS<\/p>\n

Due to the nature of the venue (empty barn and garden) we had to deal with everything that is involved with the wedding. It was agreed between Matt and Kerry that Kerry would deal with decorating the venue which included making table runners, bunting as well as purchasing other decorations whilst Matt would book and coordinate all suppliers.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC<\/p>\n

It was agreed from the start that they would need both a DJ and a band. Finding a DJ was easy, a friend called Zola who has 10 years\u2019 experience as a wedding DJ was our first and only choice for the job. Due to his knowledge of music he was able to cater the music to keep everyone (young and old) on their feet.<\/p>\n

Kerry and Matt both agreed that they did not want anything older then the 80s to be played. This was due to experiencing weddings where the dance floors were empty all night because the DJ insisted to play the twist.<\/p>\n

Finding a band on the other hand was a long and painful process, it took close to 4 months to find something that they thought would work with the wedding surroundings and their taste in music. After the 176 time of listening to below average bands killing Sex on Fire by the Kings of Leon Matt came across an acoustic band that went under the names of Thrift Shop and The Chaps. These guys were amazing and extremely talented.<\/p>\n

From the first song to the last they had people on the dance floor going mental, If you like house, garage, drum and base, pop, hip hop then these guys are for you, and if you don\u2019t I guarantee that you will still love them.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES<\/p>\n

Dress from Candy Anthony, London. Shoes from Hadleigh Hats. Bouquet from Katies Keepsakes. Jewellery from Debenhams. Hairpiece from Violet Belle.<\/p>\n

Kerry always knew that she wanted a 50s style dress, she loves the style of that era, so classy and effortless. Kerry\u2019s friend recommended Candy Anthony and she fell in love with the dresses immediately, Hazel who worked in the shop helped Kerry find \u201cthe one\u201d and made the purchase very easy.<\/p>\n

Shoes were from Hadleigh Hats and were by Rainbow Club. Hadleigh Hats dyed the shoes to match the dress and added a few extra diamant\u00e9\u2019s for that extra sparkle.<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER<\/p>\n

Kerry and Matt like a very similar photography style which took some of the difficulty out of the search to find the photographer, however they still struggled to find someone they both loved. Kerry stumbled upon Love That Smile Photography from a Google search and showed Matt the gallery, he also loved the photos and that was that\u2026<\/p>\n

BUDGET<\/p>\n

Let just say it was double what we originally thought it would be.<\/p>\n

GROOM’S ATTIRE<\/p>\n

Ted Baker Blazer. TM Lewin Shirt. Topman trousers. Topman waistcoat. River Island shoes from ASOS. Cravat and pocket square from ebay.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE<\/p>\n

Red Brick Barn, Sutton Hall, Shopland, Essex. A working farm Monday to Friday with a converted barn for weddings as well as grounds to erect marquees\/tipi.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS<\/p>\n

Not being a massive fan of real flowers at weddings Kerry decided to go down the route of origami flowers. Kerry found a very talented seller on Facebook (Katie\u2019s Keepsakes) that made the flowers to specified colour scheme.<\/p>\n

As well as flowers that the bridal party would be holding they also had table decorations made that would match.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS (and a little pageboy)<\/p>\n

The bridesmaid dresses were tricky. Not only did they have to fit within the \u2018theme\u2019 and compliment Kerry\u2019s wedding dress, they had to tie in with the colour scheme and suit the different shapes of the bridesmaid. It was a difficult task and took months of searching when Kerry found them perfect dresses in BHS.<\/p>\n

The adult bridesmaids wore vintage style mint dresses and the flower girl wore a blush pink vintage style dress. The shoes for the adult bridesmaids also came from BHS to match the dresses, and the flower girls shoes came from Monsoon.<\/p>\n

The pageboy was also a little tricky as we had to match his outfit to the groomsmen. We decided on a navy waistcoat and trouser suit from Ladybird at Very.co.uk along with a matching cravat.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR<\/p>\n

This was Kerry\u2019s department, she knew exactly what she wanted and decided to make all the decorations to make sure they were exactly right. Bunting was the main decoration which was made from fabric purchased from eBay and table runners which were made from fabric purchased from Kayes Textiles. The furniture (other than the benches) were bought and overhauled by Matt\u2019s mum, who did a fantastic job.<\/p>\n

Less is more was definitely the thinking behind the d\u00e9cor which turned out exactly as envisaged.<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS<\/p>\n

The day went by so quickly and was perfect so very difficult to pick out specific moments, however the band were amazing so this would be Kerry\u2019s memorable moment.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE<\/p>\n

Kerry didn\u2019t want a traditional cake and wanted it to be a take on a classic. She opted for a three tier topsy-turvy cake with a vintage colour scheme. The cake was lovingly made by Karen\u2019s Cake Kreations. Kerry has known Karen for many years and always wanted her to make the cake. We also had vintage style cupcakes which were placed on the tables as centre pieces.<\/p>\n

\"Pastel<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON<\/p>\n

Both Matt and Kerry are well travelled which made it difficult to decide on a honeymoon destination. They decided on Sri Lanka which proved to be a fantastic country with loads to see and do. Relaxation was the key and they definitely achieved this.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t tell anyone what you have planned for the day; you never know if something will fall through.<\/p>\n

Think about what you are getting yourself into when planning a wedding from scratch, it is very time consuming and sometimes stressful.<\/p>\n

Always haggle on the price; thousands can be saved by just asking.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t go with the first person you speak to, check to see what else is out there however set yourself a time limit to find that better offer. If you can\u2019t find a better offer then make your decision.<\/p>\n
