There is something so elegant yet simple about this celebration in the city today.<\/p>\n

Jenna and Chris were married last summer in Edinburgh and tied the knot in a church ceremony before heading to a Thai restaurant for the after party. Think lashings of delicious cuisine, which also included an epic dessert table and pizza for later on. Sounds amazing right?<\/p>\n

Jenna looked so beautiful in her modern Suzanne Neville <\/a>gown which she teamed with a birdcage veil, while the boys wore traditional kilts. The blooms were really unusual with blush and white roses, hydrangeas and orchids. Gorgeous.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL | It was my birthday that weekend so Chris decided to be extra nice to me and make me breakfast in bed. I didn’t see it coming as I just assumed as it was my birthday I was getting extra treatment. Stuffing my face with bacon Chris says \u2018I know your birthday is tomorrow but would you like one of your presents now?\u2019 Of course I said yes and he went to retrieve a small box from the wardrobe and produced a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring! Of course I said yes!<\/p>\n

THE VISION | I wanted all the traditional elements of a wedding but in a modern, chilled out way. We just wanted to make sure everyone had enough food and drink and a very late home time so we could party the night away.<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Being part of the duo that is 2Flux it was really important to me that our wedding was just that little bit different as that is what we strive for.<\/p>\n

Liz was a great help and as she was getting married two weeks after me we helped each other out along the way. All our chat was wedding chat!<\/p>\n

The planning process started with the wedding stationery. This sets the tone for the day and the colour scheme and look.<\/p>\n

I had nudes and metallics with modern triangle and circle shapes. The invite was modern but was still had an elegant look with luxurious de-bossed card, die cut belly band and printed envelopes.<\/p>\n

From here the vision was clear and elements of the stationery were introduced into the rest of the wedding.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | We are lucky enough to live in Edinburgh and thought it would be a great location to have our wedding especially for the Guests coming from N.Ireland and further afield.<\/p>\n

We had the ceremony at St Cuthberts Parish church that leads into Princes St Gardens where we had ice cream. A short stroll lead us to Chaophraya Thai restaurant where we had full use of the venue for the reception.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was Suzanne Neville, Memoire and I had a custom birdcage veil made by Rene Walrus.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | I tried on about 30 dresses in one day with two of my good friends.I had a clear vision of what I didn’t want but could appreciate all the dresses!<\/p>\n

On a different occasion I went on another wedding dress shopping trip. I wanted something modern and simple and when I tried on thee dress I knew it was the one! It was a fun process though as I did get to try on some amazing dresses and did sing the Frozen song as I pranced around the bridal shops.<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | Chris went for a kilt being a Scots man. We wanted to keep it as modern as possible with a traditional twist so the colours were subtle. The kilt was Hebridean Storm Tartan with charcoal waistcoat and jacket.<\/p>\n

The grooms party scrubbed up pretty well and the page boys were super cute in their mini kilts.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | One of my best friends and my sister in law both did lovely readings at the ceremony. It was nice to have them be part of our special day.<\/p>\n

We also had the Erskine string quartet play a mixture of classical and modern songs pre and post wedding ceremony. There where amazing and it was lovely for me to watch the wedding video back to hear all the songs.<\/p>\n

I even requested a sister act melody during the signing of the register.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had my sister and Chris\u2019s sister as the bridesmaids. From the start I wanted them to be similarly dressed but not exactly the same. I found their dresses online at Needle and Thread and loved seeing them both together on the day. The girls had simple pearl jewellery with a lovely Kate Spade silver knot bracelet that I got them as a present.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | White and blush sand roses with white hydrangeas and orchids.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | We had a whole dessert table from Mimi\u2019s bakehouse which was amazing. We choose one of the larger cakes to cut with Chris\u2019s Grandfather\u2019s sword. The cake was banana and caramel, huge and yummy!<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Marc Lawson is a family friend and I have know him for a long time so was nice to feel relaxed around him. He also attended my hen party where he got to know all the girls so was a familiar face on the wedding day.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | As the restaurant is so beautiful inside with Thai statues, interesting lighting and a fish tank, not to mention the amazing views over Edinburgh and the castle. We did very little d\u00e9cor because we didn’t need to.<\/p>\n

We entertained our guest with an magician called ACE. It was crazy what he could do! We also had the Blush Photo Booth in the evening that was great fun.<\/p>\n

We added small touches like the wedding hall of fame, with pictures of all the married couples who attended the wedding. It was nice to see it as a collective with all the styles though the years.<\/p>\n

We also had \u2018find your face to find your place\u2019 with funny pictures of all our guests. Both where a great talking points.<\/p>\n

Each table was decorated with simple candles and flowers with each person having a round table place that included their menu.<\/p>\n

The main event was the food! More than you could imagine. Everything type of Thai food you could ever think of. The staff did the most amazing job of looking after everyone and we can’t thank them enough.<\/p>\n

We also had the bar staff make up a delicious selection of classic cocktails for a post dinner beverage. They went down a treat.<\/p>\n

In the evening we had Dominos pizza and a selection of Thai dishes.<\/p>\n

The dessert table was also open all evening with a selection of amazing cakes and cheeses. No one went hungry!<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON | We cant wait! In February we are off on a 23 day trip to Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand and Dubai. Bye bye winter, hello sunshine.<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The length the staff at Chaophraya went to was unbelievable. They really made the day extra special, especially with the amazing carving that they made and presented to us on arrival.<\/p>\n

It was just lovely to have all our friends and family in one place.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights for me was defending my limbo title on the dance floor. In a wedding dress, might I add!<\/p>\n

Chris was happy to have the controller of the smoke machine.<\/p>\n

It was also really nice to get home to our flat and reminisce about the whole day, alone!<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | There will be a point in the planning process where you will hate each other. This will pass but even the choosing of delicious cheesecake can break any couple. Communication is key.<\/p>\n

I would also say that the day goes by so quickly and so hard to talk to everyone including each other. Staying in one spot together was great, let the people come to you.<\/p>\n
