It’s time to share WWW real bride Rosie’s wedding. YAY. Rosie blogged all about her wedding planning with us over the course of a year and I am thrilled to be sharing the beautiful day in its entirety.<\/p>\n

Rosie and Elliot tied the knot in a legal ceremony before their official wedding day, which was held on Saturday 19th<\/sup> September at Parsonage Farm<\/a> in Hampshire. Their friend conducted their ceremony in a pretty marquee filled with their nearest and dearest.<\/p>\n

With a tight budget Rosie and Elliot hand made much of their day, teamed with charity shop finds and using local, seasonal supplies. It’s a way of planning that makes a wedding feel truly special and meaningful. Rosie looked sensational in her 1960s vintage gown with flowers in her hair, while Elliot’s bespoke suit had real wow factor. You are going to adore this lovelies.<\/p>\n

Happiest Day of My Whole Life<\/h2>\n

I was told by a couple of newly wedded brides that once the wedding was done and dusted, it was a really good idea to think of something to distract me when we were back from our honeymoon. Maybe start planning a surprise birthday party for a friend, or a travelling expedition across India. Or maybe even just knit a jumper. After all of the work, all that planning, all the worrying, it would (I was told) leave me feeling a bit sad.<\/p>\n

Scrap all of the above! Because when I look through the pictures of our day (and what phenomenal pictures they are!) or listen to our wedding playlist, I am filled with the happiest feeling. A few months on, even being made redundant from work, doesn\u2019t mar the happiness that I feel when I look back. I don\u2019t want to go back and do it again, because it would never be as perfect a day as it was.<\/p>\n

Sure. The speaker that was going to play my entrance music and all of the dancing music, decided to stop working 15 minutes before I arrived. And I didn\u2019t get to finish all of the chalkboards that I wanted to. And perhaps we might have planned moving all of the tables out of the way before all the best men got too tipsy to concentrate anything but the cheese board. But genuinely (and I mean this absolutely honestly), with all its quirks, Elliot and my wedding was the happiest day of my whole life. And I wouldn\u2019t change a thing!<\/p>\n

The Legal Ceremony<\/h2>\n

On the 15th<\/sup> September, El and I got officially hitched in Wiltshire Register Office. Just our closest family joined us for this ceremony. I had thought that it would be a case of signing a bit of paper, saying a few things, and then going onto get a good bit of grub somewhere. But it was way more emotionally charged than I could have imagined. The people at the Register Office were just lovely. They helped to create an intimate, precious atmosphere and made it as special as it could be.<\/p>\n

We walked down the aisle together to Bill Wither\u2019s \u2018Lovely Day\u2019 and then walked out to\u2026 the Austin Power\u2019s theme tune. Brilliant! Elliot wore a vintage 1970s suit, and I wore a vintage 1950s silk tea dress. I hadn\u2019t planned to have a bouquet, but my terrific mother-in-law hooked me up with one that was just perfect.<\/p>\n

We walked from the Register Office to the Red Lion in Salisbury where we ate and drank ourselves silly. Then El and I escaped to stay in a little hotel nearby.<\/p>\n

The Day Before<\/h2>\n

Fast-forward a bit to the day before our wedding. Both families have made, what felt like hundreds of trips backwards and forwards to Parsonage Farm, Upton. John and Sarah have been more than helpful with sorting out fairy lights, and space for our wonderful caterer, Emma Way, to work. It was an incredibly busy time at the farm anyway, but their help was very much appreciated.<\/p>\n

Decorative flowers were sourced from a local smallholding. I wasn\u2019t fussy about colour schemes. The bigger and the brighter the better! A combination of dahlias, sunflowers and other little garden-grown flowers were spread in little glass bottles over the tables.<\/p>\n

The marquee from Medstead Marquees arrived and popped up a gigantic marquee in less than 2 hours. Next up, the ales arrived from local brewery, Betteridge Beer. I said we\u2019d never get through 3 kegs of ale\u2026 How wrong I was!<\/p>\n

At 3:30, I was ordered to leave the premises, so that I could sleep and eat \u2013 very important things I\u2019d forgotten to factor into my planning. It was up to El and his best men, Blane and Atticus, to sort the last minute bits and bobs. I was nervous. I\u2019m not going to lie. But they absolutely smashed it. With the help of both of our families, they absolutely made that place look even more beautiful than I thought possible.<\/p>\n

Bridal Prep<\/h2>\n

Saturday had arrived! Mid-morning, Debbie from the Funky Florist (based in Andover) arrived with the most beautiful blooms \u2013 bouquets for the bridesmaids and myself, a little hairpiece for me, and button holes for the guys. Flowers were one thing that I was quite nervous about. I realized that pale pink bridesmaid dresses wouldn\u2019t go with the big bright flowers that were decorating the farm. But Debbie got it. She adjusted the styles of the bouquets to suit the dresses and ages of my two bridesmaids. She saw from me that I wasn\u2019t a diamant\u00e9 girl. I asked for herbs and garden flowers. And when she arrived with the below, I gave her a huge hug!<\/p>\n

We travelled to the venue in Elliot\u2019s families Morris Minor\u2019s!<\/p>\n

Photography<\/h2>\n

Here I want to make an extra special, glowing, mention to Karolyn and Jess of Honey and the Moon Photography. I knew from our engagement pictures that the pictures would be great. But even looking through our wedding pictures now, 6 months later, they absolutely caught every speech, every detail, and every smile from our day. Even parts that I didn\u2019t see they caught it! They were unobtrusive, sensitive to everyone, and were absolutely dedicated. I cannot thank them enough and would recommend them to everyone I know.<\/p>\n

The Ceremony<\/h2>\n

One of Elliot\u2019s best friends, Atticus, \u2018married\u2019 us. He read some beautiful words and my lovely friends Jessie and Deva did a reading each. Then El and I exchanged the rings. Then we had a quick photo shoot.<\/p>\n

The Attire<\/h2>\n

I have already gone into detail about my dress in a previous post. I\u2019d bought it from eBay \u2013 a vintage, 1960s silk dress. El also wore something pretty special. His friend, Joe is a young and seriously good tailor. So of course, it made sense for El to have something made by JosephJenkinsBespoke for his day!<\/p>\n

The \u2018difficult\u2019 bit was over.<\/p>\n

My mum made what felt like litres of damson vodka. This frisky booze was topped up with prosecco and then the fun really started\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026All made Saturday 19th<\/sup> September the best day of our lives.<\/p>\n

DIY<\/h2>\n

I want to share all of the pictures, but I don\u2019t want to bore everyone! Before I sign out from my Whimsical Wonderland Wedding, I just wanted to revisit what I mentioned in my first post.<\/p>\n

Money was <\/em>an object for Elliot and I. We really did do everything we could to make our day as \u2018good value\u2019 as we possibly could. It was stressful at times, but constantly remembering that our wedding was the first proper day of the rest of our lives, kept us sane!<\/p>\n

There were some things (like food) that I really didn\u2019t want to scrimp on. But there were other things that we knew that we could build ourselves. We made napkin ties, we made a gigantic \u2018E\u2019 and \u2018R\u2019 out of MDF and covered it with scraps of fabric that we already had. El and I made all of the invitations by hand. My mum (she really is <\/em>phenomenal) dried petals for confetti and bought vintage china from charity shops to serve our food on.<\/p>\n

Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n

We used suppliers that were as close to home as possible. We researched to find the best possible deals we could. Our families got together, we talked money, ideas, we got creative and the result was a day that was totally \u2018us\u2019.<\/p>\n

For me, I learnt how to make decisions and how to compromise. Whimsical Wonderland Weddings was a real inspiration for me \u2013 particularly when I worried how much our budget could stretch. Huge thanks go to Lou for being so patient and lovely, and for putting this site together in the first place!<\/p>\n
