I loved this wedding photography duo as soon as I heard their distinctive name, not to mention their creative eye and ability to capture the essence of a couple’s personality. We’re super lucky here in the UK to welcome Through The Woods We Ran<\/a>, as they recently moved over from Perth to Bristol and are about take the wedding industry by storm. You’ll see why as soon as you clap eyes on their awesome shots.<\/p>\n

Real, honest and personality packed photography, filled with colour and emotion. There isn’t really much more you want than to be able to be yourself totally and utterly in front of the lens and trust that you’ll look amazing once you have those prints in your hands.<\/p>\n

Hi, Lauren and Glenn could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?<\/h1>\n

We\u2019re Lauren & Glenn and we\u2019re photographers of awesome weddings. We just moved over to Bristol a couple of months ago from Australia (Perth) and are super stoked about cold weather (no we\u2019re not joking) and exploring new places. We love shooting weddings where couples do what they want instead of following traditions that don\u2019t mean anything to them, we have three cats, and we\u2019re generally obsessed with animals.<\/p>\n

What do you love and dislike about your job?<\/h1>\n

Glenn: Actually shooting weddings is the best bit. Probably mostly because we get awesome couples (let\u2019s hope that trend continues in the UK!) that just trust us to do our thing rather than giving us lists of things to shoot. Dislikes\u2026 being away from the cats when we do destination weddings is definitely my biggest dislike.<\/p>\n

Lauren: The actual shooting on a wedding day is the funnest part, so much happens in such a short space of time, with such a rollercoaster of emotions\u2026 it\u2019s pretty great to be a part of it. We also get to meet the best people, both couples and the vendors we get to work with, some of whom have become my best friends.<\/p>\n

What I dislike\u2026 well I think sometimes we see people who think they know better than the bride and groom, and that is a real pet peeve of mine. Like mums who try to make the groom shave the beard they have had for years, or bridesmaids who tell the bride to put on fancy underwear instead of the comfortable underwear the bride chose to wear.<\/p>\n

How did you get into the wedding industry?<\/h1>\n

Glenn: I bought a crappy bridge camera to take photos at Perth Zoo on weekends and that inevitably turned into trying my hand at people photography, then a styled shoot (loved it), and that opened my eyes to wedding photography \u2013 which I would\u2019ve probably listed as my nightmare job until I found some awesome photographers online who were rocking super candid photos that were a bit darker \u2013 rather than the super staged light and airy stuff I associated with weddings.<\/p>\n

Lauren: I shot pretty much every wedding with Glenn but it was just a weekend thing while I followed by own aspirations of being an esteemed university professor \u2026 until I started to love wedding photography more, and then I jumped in full time as well.<\/p>\n

\"Bristol<\/p>\n

What are you looking forward to most about moving to the UK?<\/h1>\n

Glenn: The weather! And how green everything is. I was always hell-bent on staying in Perth forever because it\u2019s a bit smaller so it can be pretty easy once you\u2019re established, but one visit to Richmond Park a couple of winters ago on holiday\u2026 being surrounded by deer and walking on frozen mud had me looking at moving here as soon as we got off the bus.<\/p>\n

Lauren: Well I have a lot of family here, so I can\u2019t wait to see them more (especially my 2 year old niece!!), but also I\u2019m looking forward to colder days, exploring little villages and vast parks and seeing deer and squirrels and HOPEFULLY a badger.<\/p>\n

\"Bristol<\/p>\n

If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?<\/h1>\n

Glenn: I can\u2019t imagine doing anything other than photography\u2026 umm so probably a limo driver. I\u2019d probably be great at it too because I know how to use Google Maps which gives me a leg-up on 95% of the ones we work with.<\/p>\n

Lauren: I would want to be a florist, for sure. I am completely obsessed with flowers (hence a couple of floral themed tattoos!)<\/p>\n

\"Bristol\"Bristol<\/p>\n

What style is your work? How would you describe your style in three words?<\/h1>\n

Couples being themselves.<\/p>\n

We try to capture couples as they really are, which means we\u2019ll only give them a little bit of direction during the day (but we don\u2019t just leave them hanging there hoping they\u2019ll be awesome\u2026 hardly anyone loves having their photo taken). Generally, we want them to just interact with each other as they normally do, that\u2019s what we love to document \u2013 we\u2019ll make it look good!<\/p>\n

As well, our style isn\u2019t just about the couple \u2013 we think it\u2019s just as important to document those interactions with their friends and family, where capturing the hugs and the emotions is infinitely more important than group shots of people at their tables.<\/p>\n

\"Bristol<\/p>\n

Could you tell us some information about your packages\/prices?<\/h1>\n

Both of us shoot every wedding together, and we document all the moments between the bride\u2019s make up through to capturing a good amount of moves on the d-floor \u2013 with prices starting at \u00a31850.<\/p>\n

\"Bristol<\/p>\n

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their photographer?<\/h1>\n

Lauren: make sure you like everything about what your photographer does \u2013 the way they shoot each part of the day, their editing style, and their personality. People underestimate how important personality is \u2013 but you\u2019re spending eight or so hours with a person on one of the biggest days of your life, so you want to make sure you like them! I think reading the \u2018about me\u2019 section is a great way to get a feel for what kind of person your photographer is \u2013 if you get to the end of it and think you could be friends with that person, that\u2019s a pretty good sign!<\/p>\n

Are you seeing any trends for the year ahead?<\/h1>\n

Lauren: I guess more relaxed weddings, cocktail style and couches and picnic rugs. Generally I just think people are bucking traditions more and more, if it\u2019s not something that\u2019s meaningful to them \u2013 my favourite non-traditional thing is mixed bridal parties, I can\u2019t imagine not having my brother as my best man, and I love seeing other people value their siblings\/opposite gender friends in the same way!<\/p>\n

Can you give us a teaser about what you are working on now?<\/h1>\n

Glenn: We\u2019re actually enjoying shooting less weddings at the moment. In Perth we were shooting 50+ a year and moving here we\u2019ll be shooting way less which gives us time to do stuff we\u2019ve wanted to do for ages \u2013 learn another language, travel (but not too much), do something else creative as a hobby \u2013 all the good stuff that working for yourself should let you do.<\/p>\n
