Oh Hannah and Matt, your pastel wedding extravaganza has me all excited today. The amount of love, effort and DIY that went into their celebrations is really rather extraordinary and the whole day was created on a \u00a36000 budget too.<\/p>\n

WWW readers Hannah and Matt chose to get hitched on the 9th July 2016 at Hertford Registry Office followed by a big party at Tewin Memorial Hall<\/a> in Hertfordshire. A relaxed, fun day was in order and everything from origami to pom poms and cross stitched pieces were crafted in pale pink and blue. The hall looked so resplendent with it’s creative and thoughtful d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n

Hannah and Matt looked so gorgeous in their chosen attire, with the bridesmaids donning floral prom dresses and Hannah a delicate flower crown in coordinating colours. Oh my.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL<\/h2>\n

Bestival 2011, sat in a field surrounded by our favourite people. Maybe not the most romantic, but perfectly suited to us! We met at Reading Festival in 2009 and had been to festivals together every year since, so I couldn\u2019t think of a better place.<\/p>\n

THE VISION<\/h2>\n

Our main aim was to have a relaxed, informal day, where everyone just had fun. We weren\u2019t bothered about traditions and just wanted to create a day that was completely personal and full of the things we love, including lots of amazing wood fired pizza!<\/p>\n

We DIY\u2019d almost everything from the origami flowers to the cross stitched table plan, which have made such amazing keepsakes. It\u2019s not very often you have all your nearest and dearest in one room so we wanted to make the most of that and throw one hell of a party!<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS<\/h2>\n

I fell pregnant 6 months after the engagement, then we moved house, so the wedding got pushed aside for a while; We were engaged for over 3 years before we sat down and thought \u2018right, let\u2019s do this!\u2019. We didn\u2019t have any savings put aside for it so the actual planning process was reasonably slow, and we booked things as and when we had the money to.<\/p>\n

Most of the DIY was done in the 6 months leading up to it, but we still had a glue gun in hand the week before!<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS<\/h2>\n

I had 2 friends and 2 sisters for my bridesmaids, who all wore 1950\u2019s style floral dresses from Lady Vintage.<\/p>\n

BUDGET<\/h2>\n

Around \u00a36k – with Matt\u2019s spreadsheet skills, we were pretty much bang on!<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS<\/h2>\n

Matt\u2019s always been a dab hand at origami but I don\u2019t think he realised what a mammoth task he was taking on when I suggested making our wedding flowers! After hours and hours of folding, sore fingers and arranging, we had all our table flowers and 5 stunning bouquets! The table flowers also doubled up as favours and our guests couldn\u2019t get enough of them.<\/p>\n

I did decide early on that I wanted some fresh flowers, and contacted Beth at The Priory Flower Co. She put together the most beautiful, colourful table runner that complemented all of our d\u00e9cor so well.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC<\/h2>\n

Music was a big deal for us and was the thing that took us the most time to decide on! I walked up the aisle to a beautiful James Bay cover of Jackie Wilson\u2019s \u2018Higher & Higher\u2019 and we danced our way out to \u2018Still Into You\u2019 by Paramore.<\/p>\n

Our first dance<\/a> was easy; Our favourite band is Arctic Monkeys and we\u2019ve always said we when got married we would dance to \u2018Baby, I\u2019m Yours\u2019, and we did! We hired an awesome DJ who drove over 130 miles to put on an epic indie\/rock party for us, complete with blow up guitars and a lot of bad dance moves!<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES<\/h2>\n

I went for a gorgeous champagne, lace Ronald Joyce dress, which was so far from what I imagined myself in! It was the second dress I tried on and I just knew straight away. I kept accessories simple with some delicate rose gold earrings and bracelet.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS<\/h3>\n

So much easier than expected! The second dress I tried on was the one; everyone said I should try on some other styles \u2018just in case\u2019, but after another 3 I just wanted to get back in MY dress!<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE<\/h2>\n

Matt knew from the get go he didn\u2019t want a traditional suit, and wasn\u2019t bothered about everyone matching. We eventually came across a brown herringbone suit on ASOS, and it was perfect. His best man ended up getting the same suit in navy and all the groomsmen had some awesome floral bow ties.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE<\/h2>\n

After looking round a few venues and feeling pretty underwhelmed (and wondering how we were going to afford them!), we came across a lovely 1920\u2019s village hall in a picturesque local village for an absolute bargain price! It was a big blank canvas which we could pretty much run wild with, and it just worked so well with the relaxed feel we were after.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR<\/h2>\n

We didn\u2019t really have a theme, we just wanted to fill the place with colour and lots of personal touches. Every guest had a hand stitched place setting, the table plan was cross stitched, Matt brewed all of the wine himself, hours were spent hole punching table confetti, and sketching on chalkboards\u2026 the list goes on!<\/p>\n

Luckily we had some DIY help from Jen and Rebecca at The Wedding Spark, who lovingly crafted our epic stage letters, pom poms and photo backdrop.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE<\/h2>\n

I\u2019m very lucky to have an Auntie that is a cake baker and a wonderful one at that! She made us the most amazing 3 tiered cake, using inspiration from our pastel colour scheme and d\u00e9cor. There was also a cute hedgehog cake for the children, and a whole array of desserts from cupcakes to Nutella cheesecakes!<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER<\/h2>\n

Meg and Marni are awesome; professional, friendly and so talented at their craft. They managed to make the entire day relaxed and it was like having two extra guests, we didn\u2019t even notice them taking pictures 99% of the time and they captured so many special moments. We\u2019re still so stunned by the photos and will treasure them forever. Honestly cannot praise or recommend these ladies enough!!<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON<\/h2>\n

We spent 5 days in Venice, as a surprise present! I\u2019ve never been so shocked, grateful and emotional all at the same time! My Mum had our Son for the week as well so we had 5 peaceful, child free days to our self \u2013 heaven \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS<\/h2>\n

The honeymoon surprise is definitely up there! I\u2019m a sucker for a good speech so was looking forward to them all day, and they didn\u2019t disappoint, my dad had most of the room in tears! Honestly, the whole day was just amazing. From getting ready in the morning, to dancing the night away, and everything in between.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES<\/h2>\n

As clich\u00e9 as it sounds, just enjoy every moment. The day really does fly by so take a minute to stand back and take it all in. Also, take half an hour out with your new husband\/wife and have some couples photos done; These are some of my favourite photos from the day and it was so nice to just have some time to ourselves. Oh and, start the DIY early!!<\/p>\n
