Oh where to begin? With the divine pale pink colour scheme, the countryside setting or the fun balloons? It’s all just so very gorgeous!<\/p>\n

WWW readers Emma and Tim were hitched on the 2nd<\/sup> July 2016 and held their reception at St Barnabas Centre<\/a> in Hertfordshire. The barn was perfect for their rustic DIY vision, which involved their nearest and dearest all coming together to craft their day. Think oodles of wooden touches, from logs to ladders and fresh blooms and pom poms galore. It looked spectacular.<\/p>\n

The bridesmaids looked darling in their multi way dresses, which enabled them to each have an individual look. Emma chose Esther by Ronald Joyce in which she looked beautiful teamed with a classic up do and romantic veil. Tim and the boys were suited and booted blue suits, pale pink ties and rose buttonholes. So dapper.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL | Tim arranged a surprise trip to the Lake District in a beautiful lodge, and on the second day we trekked up to a mountain with views all over the lakes, and then at the top, Tim pulled out a football sock from his bag (so romantic!) and got down on one knee. The ring was stunning; he\u2019d secretly been designing it for 4 months\u2026 I said yes of course!<\/p>\n

THE VISION | Relaxed, country \u2018rustic\u2019 kind of wedding. We didn\u2019t want anything too formal and wanted something that we could easily add our own personal touches to. Despite currently living in a city, I\u2019m a country bumpkin at heart and wanted something that came across as relaxed and not too formal to suit out personalities. I always wanted a campervan too \u2013 I wanted something fun rather than fancy and searched for ages to find Molly the VW!<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had 18 months to plan the day and to keep costs down we made most of the decorations ourselves, with the help of family and friends. We spent months collecting and decorating jam jars, making napkin holders and doing various woodworking bits, but it was all good fun and meant that the day was full of lots of personal touches.<\/p>\n

BUDGET | \u00a312,000<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | St James the Great Church in Thorley \u2013 a beautiful Norman church set in farm land, followed by St Barnabas Centre, Thorley, Bishop\u2019s Stortford \u2013 a beautiful and spacious barn literally a stone\u2019s throw away from the church.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | A fitted ivory dress (\u2018Esther\u2019) with a plunge back, delicate embroidery and a long train by Ronald Joyce. I\u2019m quite petite so I loved the simple fit, and the back of the dress was really the \u2018wow\u2019 factor for me! The embellishment added a subtle sparkle in the light and made it stand out and was a little bit different to other lace dresses I\u2019d tried on. I kept the accessories quite simple \u2013 just some simple stud diamond earrings. The only \u2018accessory\u2019 I added was a locket to my bouquet. My mum passed away when I was younger and I really wanted to keep her with me during the day but wanted it to be subtle and personal rather than a huge statement. I was given the idea of wrapping a locket around my bouquet with her picture inside, and this was really meaningful to me. I always said that if our wedding day was sunny it would be her beams of happiness and if it was raining it would be her tears of joy \u2013 and we had both!<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | I\u2019d gone to a few shops and found so many beautiful dresses and I didn\u2019t know how I was going to make a decision \u2013 there are so many stunning wedding dresses out there and the whole process of trying them on is so much fun! I tried every single style out there from the Great Gatsby style dresses to the huge princess dresses. In the end, I didn\u2019t actually pick the dress out myself as on the hanger I felt the embroidery\/ embellishment was a bit too \u2018fussy\u2019 and I wanted something quite simple, but the lady in Fleur de Llys picked this out for me to try on and that was it \u2013 I had to have it!<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | Tim wore a vibrant blue suit from Slaters with a waistcoat and a baby pink tie to match the bridesmaid\u2019s dresses. The button hole was made up of a sweet avalanche rose and eucalyptus to match my bouquet. The suit was matched with brown shoes and stripy socks!<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | As well as some of the more traditional readings and hymns, we chose an extract from one of my favourite books, Captain Corelli\u2019s Mandolin, and one of my friends is an amazing singer and sang a beautiful version of Beyonce\u2019s Ave Maria during the signing of the register.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 3 bridesmaid; my sister Katie, my best friend from school, Amy, and my best friend from University, Kirsty. They\u2019re all ridiculously tall so it took me a while to find wedding shoes high enough (and comfortable enough) to stop me from looking so short in comparison to them!! The bridesmaids work baby pink multi-way dresses as I was keen to make sure that they had dresses that suited their style and shapes. I left it up to them how they chose to wear the dresses and was really pleased when they chose 3 different styles as it made their look more personalised. They didn\u2019t need any accessories, and their hair was also worn in different ways to reflect their own individual styles and look.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | We used cala lilies, eucalyptus, sweet avalance roses and rosemary as I wanted the bouquets to not look to \u2018put together\u2019 or perfect, but instead I wanted them to look like they had just been picked and bunched together \u2013 I didn\u2019t want them to look too perfectly arranged or structured but more in line with the rustic theme and so they were very loosely structured. The colours added to the soft, romantic theme that I was trying to inject.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | My auntie did an incredible job making 200 cupcakes, styled in a number of terracotta pots and made to look like a bouquet of roses. She also made a three-tier naked cake of alternate chocolate, vanilla and lemon sponge. The cake had berries cascading down the side of it and was put onto a log that my Dad had cut and varnished. It looked incredible!<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Daniela K Photography \u2013 we came across some of Daniela\u2019s photography online and loved her laid back style and natural style of photography. We really could not have been happier with our wedding photos \u2013 they capture the day and the emotions brilliantly and really inject our personality!<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | The reception venue was decorated with many homemade items: wooden logs cut by my dad, the flowers arranged by my godmother in jars that a few of us had decorated with hessian, lace and wooden heart buttons, hessian and lace bunting, pink and ivory pompoms, and old rustic furniture and suitcases that we found in my grandparents cellar! I also found a number of crates from markets and also a small stepladder that I found in my grandparents garage. My dad also handmade a number of wooden signs, and a trough that we packed full of flowers. We used baby pictures on the table name cards and luggage tags made out of Kraft paper to write our guests names on. The best find was an old wheelbarrow which we filled with beer to become our \u2018beer barrow\u2019! We also handmade the hessian table runners and went quite over the top with our sweet table\u2026 my auntie made 200 cupcakes that were put on sticks coming out of terracotta pots to look like bouquets and we filled a suitcase and jars with lots of retro sweets! We used mason jars for the reception drinks and added chalkboard labels on them for people to add their name too. We also had a photobooth in the evening which was a huge hit and it was so funny to look back at all the photos afterwards!<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON | We\u2019re big fans of travelling and whilst lying on a beach in the Maldives sounds like heaven, we thought we would fulfil a lifelong dream for our honeymoon and take some time off work to go backpacking around South America for 5 weeks! We decided to delay the honeymoon until October as it gives us something to look forward to and the seasons will be better then. We start in Rio, move on to the Iguazu falls, then head to Buenos Aires before travelling to Peru and doing the Inca Trail and seeing Machu Picchu. We then spend a few days in the Amazon rainforest, before heading to Ecuador for a night and then taking a 7 day cruise around the Galapagos Islands! It\u2019s going to be incredible and it has helped both of us to not experience the post-wedding depression that some of my other friends have experienced!<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | One moment that sticks in my mind is sitting down for our wedding breakfast and just looking around the room and seeing everyone we loved together in one room \u2013 it sounds corny but that really was amazing.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy the whole process \u2013 don\u2019t stress over the small stuff and the planning is such a big part of the whole experience so make sure you enjoy every second of it. I felt so relaxed the whole day and even when the camper van broke down on the way to the church and a huge spider climbed up the train of my dress during the church service, I could only see the funny side!<\/p>\n
