WWW readers Lucy and Steve married on 29th<\/sup> October 2016 at The Oak Tree of Peover<\/a> in Knutsford. The venue is surrounded with beautiful countryside and the couple did such a wonderful job of decorating it with crafty d\u00e9cor, there are plenty of swoon-some stylish details to enjoy! Aren’t the dream catchers just beautifully boho?<\/p>\n

Lucy looked beautiful in her Katya Katya Shehurina dress and Steve looks super smart in his Ted Baker three piece. Lucy’s maids were also very stylish in blush and I just adore the flower girls with their floral dresses and baskets of baby’s breath, so cute.<\/p>\n

You can feel the love in the intimate ceremony room and it’s also so great to see a cake table contributed to by talented family and friends. The blush colour scheme works beautifully and don’t miss the special touches included for proud Yorkshireman Steve.<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL | We had spent the last 18 months renovating our first home together and finally decided we\u2019d treat ourselves to a weekend away to the Lake District, in September 2015. We set off on a lovely walk near Windermere and stopped at a little bench with stunning view overlooking the lake. After sitting for a couple of minutes, Steve starting a bit of a speech about how happy we are\u2026then got down on one knee and proposed! We celebrated with a lovely cup of tea from our flask\u2026it was perfect for us. Steve had bought a Tiffany\u2019s necklace to propose with, so we could shop together for my ring.<\/p>\n

THE VISION | Our vision was to plan a day that would be relaxed and personal to us. We didn\u2019t pick a theme or particular style early on, there is so much choice when you start to look into it, it was quite overwhelming at first. We are quite organised people though, so we made sure we booked the important parts first then decided on the details as we went along.<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started almost straight away after getting engaged. This wasn\u2019t intentional, but with all the excitement of getting engaged, we decided we\u2019d visit a couple of venues just to get an idea of how the whole process worked. We were quite shocked to discover how far in advance the venues we visited were booked up, some had every Friday to Sunday booked for the next 18 months. This spurred us on to pick a venue and set a date a month after getting engaged.<\/p>\n

BUDGET | We didn\u2019t set ourselves a specific budget. Steve created a workbook and we put in an estimate for the costings. We then used this to track what we were actually spending to make sure we could afford it. We are very like minded when it comes to money, so it was easy for us to prioritise together what we were happy to spend on and where we were able to make savings.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | We booked The Oak Tree of Peover in Knutsford. It is an oak structured building set in glorious countryside, so beautiful. It was actually the first venue we looked at and we loved it straight away. After looking at a couple of other places to compare, we knew it was the one for us.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was a Katya Katya Shehurina gown called Rachelle. My shoes were from Reiss. My local hairdresser Jayne from Bows and Brushes, Cheadle, did my hair and all of the bridal party on the day. Jayne is fantastic, she has a lot of experience with brides and knew exactly how to create the look I wanted to complement my dress.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | I spent a long time browsing online trying to find a style or designer that I liked, would suit my figure and that I could afford. I knew I wanted it to have lace and that I didn\u2019t want something that was going to be huge or glitzy. I came across Katya Katya Shehurina and I loved every single gown in her collection. The dresses are so beautiful and exactly what I imagined my dress would be like. I found a local vintage bridal shop who stocked them so went to try them on and fell head over heels for my dress Rachelle. Being a bit budget savvy, I actually found an online retailer who was discontinuing her range for that designer, so I bought my dress from her in the end at a discounted price.<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | We choose a lovely three piece navy blue Ted Baker suit for Steve and his best man. Steve\u2019s shoes were from Next and his tie was from River Island. Steve is a proud Yorkshireman and chose a Sheffield stainless steel wedding band. As a wedding gift, I gave Steve a set of silver Yorkshire rose cufflinks and matching lapel pin from Yorkshire Badges.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had two readings during our ceremony, the first was read by my brother and was \u2018On Your Wedding Day\u2019. The second was read by Steve\u2019s sister and was \u2018The Owl and the Pussy Cat\u2019 \u2013 Steve is a massive Sheffield Wednesday fan (Owls are the SWFC mascot for non-football fans\u2026like me!) and we both love cats, so this seemed like a fun and personal way to end our ceremony.<\/p>\n

We knew straight away what music we wanted for our ceremony. I love \u2018Love Letters\u2019 by Ketty Lester so I had this for my aisle song and we picked \u2018All You Need Is Love\u2019 by The Beatles for our exit song. We hired the amazing Andy Murphy as our DJ for the evening and we choose James Morrison \u2018You Make It Real\u2019 as our first dance. James Morrison is a go to artist for any road trips we go on!<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had three of my closest friends as bridesmaids and choose a neutral maxi dress from Debenhams. These were great dresses as they could be tied in several different ways, meaning each of my bridesmaids could adapt this to a style that best suited their figure. We also had our nieces as the cutest little flower girls. I found it quite difficult to find them a dress that matched the bridesmaids, so we opted for something completely different and chose one from Next that would tie in nicely with the flowers on the day.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | We really like Gypsophila so this was an easy choice! We think it looks so pretty in huge bunches all on its own and it complemented our venue perfectly. We went with a local florist following a recommendation from our friend – Simply Flowers in Cheadle. Rachel from Simply Flowers was great, she was really flexible and did a wonderful job. We provided the metallic tin cans (after eating a lot of chopped tomatoes) and Rachel filled these with Gypsophila and made the bouquets, buttonholes and flower girl\u2019s baskets.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | We opted not to have a big wedding cake and went for a cake table instead and used this as our dessert on the day. Our amazing friends and family were kind enough to help bake goodies for this and it work so well. You can\u2019t beat homemade cake!<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer was outstanding. We found Jemma online after searching for documentary\/storytelling style photographer on Google. We were a little worried about picking somebody we had only seen online but we had a chat with Jemma on the phone prior to booking, and she put our minds at rest. We could not have been happier with our choice! Steve and I are fairly shy in front of the camera and Jemma did wonders to help us relax and made the shots so natural. We have had so many of our friends and family make a special point of saying how friendly, professional and fun Jemma was on the day, not to mention how delighted we all are with the photographs.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | We wanted to include as many personal touches as we could and we made all of the decorations ourselves, with a lot of help from my lovely Mum and our close friends, the super talented Soiree Stylists. We sourced almost everything from local charity shops, from old picture frames to make into the chalk boards, to the lace doilies that we made into the dreamcatchers. There were nods to Steve\u2019s hometown of Sheffield and we tried to add finishing touches that tied in with the boho style of my dress.<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON | We chose to have short break down in Cornwall straight after the wedding just to recoup. We are planning a belated honeymoon to Canada and Alaska in May this year.<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | For us, the ceremony was our most memorable moment. The ceremony room is quite intimate at the venue, so although all of our family and friends were there, it felt like it was just the two of us sharing our vows.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Make your day personal to you and don\u2019t be swayed away from your own ideas. There are so many websites or articles that dictate the rules or \u2018must haves\u2019 for a successful wedding and it\u2019s nonsense. Your friends and family should be honoured to celebrate your marriage with you, so do it your way!<\/p>\n
