Being vegan, today’s couple, Matt and Tamar of course had to go all out vegan for their own nuptials and also included an ethical vibe to their celebrations held on 22nd<\/sup> July 2017 at Shallowford House<\/a> in Staffordshire. First through they were married in a church ceremony, where Tamar’s mum is the vicar and she read their chosen readings in the ceremony. How very special!<\/p>\n

So back to the vegan choices, the rainbow cake was made by a family member and looked just incredible, then their caterers created a vegan feast. Being on a budget the pair set about creating a hand made day and created much of the d\u00e9cor themselves or sourced it online. The results really were just brilliant<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Tamar’s bridal look has to be one of my fave styles, bohemian beautiful. Think large flower crown and wild blooms teamed with an ethereal floaty gown and ballerina top come evening. THE PROPOSAL | I was in my second year of university in Birmingham, and we had arranged for me to come home for the weekend so that Matt and I could go walking in the Peak District. It was Friday 26th<\/sup> February 2016, and Matt drove me to the Roaches, a place that we go to regularly for walks and picnics. I thought he seemed a bit nervous but didn\u2019t think much of it, Matt and I have been together since I was 16 and he was 17, and we\u2019d always said we\u2019d get married after we\u2019d both finished university, so I thought we\u2019d probably get engaged at some point in my final year. I was in second year, so when the fleeting thought of whether Matt seemed nervous because he was about to propose crossed my mind, I brushed it off pretty quickly. We parked up and started our walk, and Matt directed us to the top of one of the peaks. It did seem oddly specific that he wanted to go to that exact point, but again, I didn\u2019t think too much of it. When we got there, Matt set up his phone on a tripod and told me that he was putting it on a self timer because he wanted us to have a photo together. So, I stood there smiling at the phone with my arm around Matt (little did I know he has started the phone filming us) when Matt started talking about our future together, and saying really sweet things to me. I turned to look at him, and he had knelt down on one knee, and he asked me to marry him! It was a very happy moment, and memory that we will cherish forever. It\u2019s even better that he got the whole thing on video!<\/p>\n

THE VISION | Matt and I are really into the natural, boho, countryside and homemade style, so it was easy for us to come up with an idea of what we wanted our wedding day to look like. We\u2019re both vegan too, so of course we wanted all of the food to be plant based and everything to be done ethically.<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I was studying throughout the planning (I graduated around a week before the big day!) so I had to make sure that I was organised and \u2018on it\u2019 with the planning. I was a full time student writing two dissertations with a part time job, living in a completely different city to where the wedding was taking place and where my fianc\u00e9 was living! Thankfully though, we had help from my bridesmaids and Matt\u2019s groomsmen, and both mine and Matt\u2019s parents were really helpful and supportive.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | The ceremony took place at St. Mark\u2019s in Stoke-on-Trent, and the wedding breakfast and reception was at Shallowford House in Staffordshire.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was Ti Adora style 7556 by Alvina Valenta, and my jewellery was from Topshop. I bought a white ballerina wrap from a local dance shop, and my shoes were Kurt Geiger Carvela sparkly heels.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | It was actually the second dress I tried on! I knew what kind of style I wanted and I knew my budget before I went, so I only tried on dresses within my budget. I did try on a range of different styles (I tried on around 13 dresses all together!) but I kept coming back to that second dress. It fit my style so well, and I just knew it was the one.<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | Matt wore a navy tails suit with a brown tweed waistcoat, brown brogues and a floral tie. We got the suits for Matt and the groomsmen from Platts in Crewe.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | The readings were done by my mum (who just so happens to be the vicar of the church that we married at), my auntie and Matt\u2019s uncle. We had Psalm 23, Colossians 3:12-16, and 1 Corinthians 13. The worship was led by some friends who regularly lead worship at church. The songs were, Be Thou My Vision, This is Amazing Grace, King of My Heart and In Christ Alone.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My bridesmaids were my three sisters, two of my cousins, and two of my best friends who I met in high school.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | The flowers were done by the wonderful Jody Page. I came across Jody at a festival wedding fair held in Birmingham, and instantly fell in love with her arrangements! I booked her pretty much there and then, and we shared a Pinterest board so that we could collate ideas. She gave me the most beautiful flowers I could have asked for. I would not change a single thing! She made the most gorgeous flower crown for me to wear, some absolutely perfect flowers for my mum\u2019s hair, and my bridesmaids bouquets were simply perfect. My bouquet was pretty close to the most beautiful thing I\u2019ve seen!! The photos show it better than I can explain it, but it\u2019s so big and beautiful, and messy in the best way possible; it was exactly what I was hoping for and more.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | Matt and I are both vegan, and we wanted a fully vegan wedding! So our cake had to be vegan, too. Because of this, we thought it would be easier (and more special) for us to get some help from family. My auntie actually made our wedding cake. She\u2019d never made a wedding cake before, but I remember growing up thinking that her children always had the best birthday cakes; she\u2019s really creative and talented, and we thought that it would be so lovely to have our cake made by someone we love so much! She did an absolutely amazing job. We had a vegan naked rainbow cake with an icing sugar dusting, buttercream filling and decorated with flowers that matched my flower crown and mine and my bridesmaids bouquets. We are so grateful and the cake went down so well! I didn\u2019t even get a bite!<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | What can I say about Laura! Amazing. I\u2019ve known Laura for many years now, before I knew Matt even! And I\u2019ve seen her work and always known that I wanted her to shoot my wedding one day. When we got engaged, one of the first things I did was message Laura and see if she had our date available! We did an engagement session with her about a month after we got engaged, which was shot in the same place that Matt proposed to me, and the photos came out so beautiful. I have them dotted around my house in almost every room. The photographs and video from the day were really important to us, since we think it\u2019s the best way that we have to re-live the best day of our lives. We knew that we could trust Laura to capture our wedding in a really beautiful, relaxed, raw and real way, which is exactly what we wanted and it\u2019s exactly what she did.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | To decorate, we bought some plastic vines and foliage from Amazon, a few cute little signs from Ginger Ray, and then I pretty much either made everything else, or borrowed it from friends. Quite a few of my friends got married recently, so I got our table cloths from a couple that I know, as well as some cute lanterns and jars, which we decorated with left over fabric from when the bridesmaids dresses were made. The table numbers were different years in our lives, with photos of Matt and I in each year, and for the centre pieces, we bought some succulents and cacti from eBay, and my dad and I sawed some logs up that were in our garden to make place mats for the centrepieces. It was all very handmade and on a budget, which just made it that much more personal and special to us.<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON | Matt and I had never been away together before, so the honeymoon was really exciting for us! We spent three weeks away, and we went to Sardinia, Venice and Croatia. It was amazing!<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The whole day was amazing! The dance floor was so much fun; everyone was dancing from the little toddlers to my grandparents. I also just loved the family feel of the day. I have a huge family and it really did feel like the day was two very different families coming together to celebrate the joining of me and Matt in marriage. Everyone was smiling, hugging us, taking photos with us, eating and drinking and dancing. What more could we want?<\/p>\n
