Relaxed outdoor weddings<\/a> have a special place in my heart, and the photos from Robert and Emily’s day really were a joy to receive! The natural storytelling of Peter Hugo<\/a>‘s style captured the personality of the day, and the couple, so beautifully, and we loved enjoying all the details that brought the venue to life.<\/p>\n

The couple\u00a0hosted\u00a0an intimate, rustic celebration\u00a0at\u00a0South Farm<\/a>, in Cambridgeshire<\/a>, which borders a barnyard of listed timber framed barns, idyllic gardens, and peaceful woodland. They were able to tie the knot outside, joined by all their loved ones (and instrumental music from Harry Potter!), and then continue the\u00a0party in one of the beautifully restored barns. The wild\u00a0bouquets of\u00a0gypsophila, cornflowers, and lavenders added a gorgeous dash of colour to the bridal party, alongside the bride’s rose gold dress and the\u00a0blue hydrangeas, green and yellow chrysanthemums, and pink peonies dotted around the venue. The relaxed English countryside vibe was carried through the paper d\u00e9cor, the twinkling fairy lights, and the childhood photos and old fashioned sweets peering out of wooden crates. We absolutely adore the personal touches and the fabulous DIY elements entwined throughout the flow of the day – and the\u00a0genuine, happy smiles bursting out of every image.<\/p>\n

We were completely charmed by this\u00a0delightful countryside wedding, and we really hope you enjoy it too!<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL | Dublin, Ireland, by the coast, out on a rock! It was our seven-year anniversary, we went on holiday to celebrate.<\/p>\n

THE VISION | Rustic barn wedding<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | The planning process was very smooth, we just stuck to what we wanted from the day, making sure our needs and ideas were at the centre of everything.<\/p>\n

BUDGET | \u00a312,000<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | South Farm, a stunning venue in Cambridgeshire. The venues main selling points for us were the beautiful setting that we could get married in outside, the fantastic and quirky accommodation and gorgeous barn for the reception. We must also add that the staff and venue are incredible and provide an exemplary service.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress is called Catherine by Wtoo<\/em> (Watters), and had the option of being entirely in ivory, or with a rose gold or pink underlay. I went for the rose gold, as I felt personally more comfortable wearing a bit of colour instead of just white. It\u2019s partly why I chose the brand, as I knew that almost all their lines and dresses came in different colour options, that and tulle skirts were my requirements.<\/p>\n

The shoes were from Dune, purchased online. They were just simple pink caged peep toe shoes with a two-inch heel. I had to purchase quite a small heel, or the dress would have been too short.<\/p>\n

For my hair I purchased a hair slide from Etsy, with had rose gold wire with pearls and mock gems. What we ended up doing is taking the design off the hair slide and intertwine the wires into my braid for a more bohemian look.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | I knew I wanted a Watters dress, so I simply searched UK stockists and Emma Elizabeth Bridal was my closest. I had a fabulous experience there and would highly recommend them.<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | ASOS for the suits, Marks and Spencer\u2019s for the shirts and braces, and Debenhams for the bow ties.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Music for the reception was a DIY disco playlist, for aisle music I walked down to instrumental music from Harry Potter \u201cRon\u2019s Speech\u201d (we\u2019re big fans!) and we walked back down together to \u201cSunday Kind of Love\u201d by Etta James. First dance was an acoustic cover of \u201cShut up and Dance\u201d by Anchor + Bell.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | We ended up going for \u2018mink\u2019 for the colour of bridesmaids, each bridesmaid chose their own design of dress. They were from TFNC, ordered from ASOS.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | Done by myself and bridal party for the tables, and by a family member for the bouquets. Having fallen deep into Pinterest when planning I kept seeing gypsophelia bouquets cropping up and loved their \u2018undone\u2019 look and how the bouquets didn\u2019t overpower the bride or bridesmaids. I went for cornflowers and lavenders as an extra something special in my bouquet, for my something blue! The bouquets were hand tied with white sheer ribbon and pearl pins.<\/p>\n

For the table flowers we knew we wanted jugs to tie in with our rustic theme, and we wholesale bought the flowers and prepared them in the jugs and mini bottles in the morning. I went for my favourite colours and flowers \u2013 blue hydrangeas, green and yellow chrysanthemums, pink peonies\/roses.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | Little Cake Kitchen, a supplier recommended to us by the venue. I had a very specific idea of what I wanted, I knew I wanted the cake to be minimalistic and not too formal. I also knew I wanted it to be sage green! We took the pompoms (for decorating) so that the colour could be exactly matched. We chose sugar lace to dress the bottom of each of the three tiers and sugar pansies scattered on the cake as well. We went for pansies because they seemed to us, both colourful and informal.<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Pete Hugo was our photographer, and he did the most incredible job. He managed to capture all the special moments, as well as the personality of us and our guests. There were some lovely action shots and even was able to get photos of myself that I like (Emily)! His talent and aesthetic we will be raving on about forever!<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | We decorated the barn with cream and sage green paper pompoms of various sizes, hung off a huge amount of fairy lights. The tables had jugs and mini bottles with flowers on a tree trunk slice, with handmade table numbers by the bride and laser cut paper heart place cards on the glasses.<\/p>\n

We also had a card box decorated with childhood photos, and a handmade by us table plan also decorated with childhood photos.<\/p>\n

The favours were old fashioned sweets, set up in wooden crates in jars with striped paper bags!<\/p>\n

My hair and make up was done by my wonderful Maid of Honour, who always happens to be a hair and make up stylist. I knew I wanted my hair down with a braid, and we went for a fishtail at the back with the hair accessory intertwined. My make up was a very classic bridal look, but with peachy tones for the eyes to tie in with the dress.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy the process of arranging everything, try and capture as much as you can from the day and savour every moment \u2013 it goes by so quick!<\/p>\n
