I must confess I have not read the famous book; “The Little Book of Hygge”, however after reading about this divine shoot today I think it sounds just my cup of tea, and I am totally going to add it to my Kindle wish list. As a lover of Autumn<\/a>, these wedding ideas<\/a> really sung to me. Deep golden leaves, rich tones and band on trend style.<\/p>\n

Talking of style I have so much love for the bridal gowns and THAT leather jacket here today. If you really want to make a statement you just cannot go wrong with an illustrated jacket in my humble opinion. Then there were the luscious florals, incredible styling and treats which will make your mouth water. All captured beautifully by Megan Elle<\/a>. Lianne at Blonde Army<\/a>, who planned the shoot tells us more;<\/p>\n

“My initial inspiration for this shoot was given to me as a book when I was bridesmaid for my friend, Grace. \u2018The Little Book of Hygge : The Danish Way to Live Well\u2019 by Meik Wiking. I was immediately addicted and it made me think how the concept is really true to what the core of a wedding should really be about. \u2018Creating a feeling of warmth, a ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Friends. Family. Graciousness.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

I wanted to set the shoot in autumn as it is the favoured season when it comes to Hygge. The warmth of the natural colours, the golden hour lighting, the cosy textures and the inviting smells around this time of year.<\/em><\/p>\n

I chose to work with a colour palette of sunburnt oranges, reds and deep burgundy with hints of purples, blues and greys to juxtapose with this. I found the perfect backdrop for the first half of this shoot just off Clapham Common, London where there was an abundance of freshly fallen crisp leaves and upturned trees. Using nature in this shoot was important as Hygge suggests we are much calmer when we are closer with nature. For this reason, I wanted the floral design to be the main event both in the bouquet and the tablescape.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Michal, from Bloominghaus took on my concept and totally delivered as he arrived with an overly wild and miscellaneous bouquet for the bride – just what I had envisioned. A lavish explosion of colour and nature but without being formal and pretentious.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“I asked my friend Grace to model for me as she\u2019d provided me with the initial inspiration for this shoot and she\u2019s totally gorgeous and natural, which is exactly what I wanted!<\/em><\/p>\n

We began the shoot with Grace wearing a beautiful deep burgundy gown from Anthropolgie Bridal. I\u2019m a huge fan of bride\u2019s embracing who they are and what they want and if they do not want to wear white then they absolutely do not have to. My Hair and Make Up Artist, Neecol, used tones of pink around the eyes to create a contrast and a very \u2018un-traditional look.\u2019”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Grace then wore a vintage one-off piece from Story Of My Dress based in Kent. This was Grace\u2019s actual wedding dress so created a lovely sense of nostalgia seeing her in it again. It was really fun to dress it with the illustrated leather jacket supplied by Backchat Designs as it made the outfit appear relaxed and casual. We played around in the leaves and generally just had a lot of fun! I love the shots of Grace laughing and dancing in the falling leaves.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“The second half of the shoot took place indoors at the stunning Church Hall of St Barnabas Church on Clapham Common. The space provided the right sort of light for that \u2018golden hour\u2019 feeling.<\/em><\/p>\n

I wanted to create a warmth and a natural glow around the table so used a variety of candles and Michal from Bloominghaus supplied three large floral scenes that enveloped the table. A real sense of bringing the outdoors in.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Tablescape \"Calligraphy \"Coffee \"Tablescape \"Calligraphy \"Calligraphy \"Calligraphy \"Autumn \"Tablescape<\/p>\n

“The candlesticks were provided by Gemma of GB Elegant Events. They are very Scandinavian in design echoing the danish influence. The coffee favours and espresso martinis were supplied by Ruttle and Rowe Coffee Company. Drinking coffee is considered a very Hygge activity and so including it as a favour and as a cocktail seemed the perfect idea for this shoot. The smell of the fresh roast helped to bring the scene alive too.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Calligraphy \"Calligraphy<\/p>\n

“The stationery was all hand crafted by Rumeet of The Lovely Little Details. Her calligraphy work is beautiful and we worked with sunburnt orange finished in gold leaf. Rumeet used watercolour and allowed it to bleed across the paper which gave her creations an organic and natural feel. We also used poetry quotes instead of traditional wedding signage.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Semi \"Autumn<\/p>\n

“The cake is a work of art from Amelia Anne Cakes. I wanted something that could look home-made and had an appeal of home-baking and comfort food. The caramel drips make it appear \u2018living\u2019 so not a finished piece that we need to stand back and admire but something we want to get involved with and eat\u2026! And that we did – needless to say it tasted just as good as it looked!”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“In the final shots Grace wears a full lace, bell sleeve dress named Jude, designed and created by Cara of Story Of My dress. A very statement piece that I matched with bold lips and statement tassel earrings. I wanted to touch on how fashion trends are influencing the wedding industry. Neecol, the make up artist also enhanced the eyes to be more smoky and dramatic.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“I was very fortunate to find the uber talented Megan of Megan Elle Photography who has captured the very essence of this shoot in her stills and film. I was immediately drawn to Megan\u2019s style as it is very raw, truthful and warm.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

Each element of this shoot is inspired and informed by Hygge; a concept I\u2019m passionate about. Every design decision has a meaning and a reason behind why it has been included in the way it has.\u00a0 I hope to inspire couples to plan from the heart and from their journey together.
