Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s 2018, and so I can finally say it \u2013 I\u2019M GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR!! Ian and I took a well-needed planning rest over Christmas, and spent two lovely weeks of down time with family. It\u2019s amazing how refreshed we felt coming back to the spreadsheets and notebooks this week! It\u2019s also amazing how much of a kick up the bum the words \u2018we have a wedding to plan this year\u2019 will give you! And we\u2019ve really got back into the swing of things quickly.<\/p>\n

I met up with our gorgeous florist Rachael of Sweet Peony Penarth last week \u2013 I am blown away by Rachael\u2019s down to earth vibe, and I just know she has my brief bang on! I\u2019ve also been sourcing table linens, props and d\u00e9cor, accessories and Ian has even started looking at suits (not a moment too soon!). This weekend I head off with my gorgeous Maid of Honour Stacey for a browse at some bridesmaid dresses, and we also have some coming from online stores \u2013 more on that in a later post. On Wednesday we have the final menu tasting with our caterers, and heading into February I get to spend the day planning at the venue with all my creative ladies (marquee, flowers, styling, venue management!). We\u2019ve just started writing up the wording for our invitations and putting together a wedding \u2018wed-site.\u2019<\/p>\n

If that wasn\u2019t enough, my gals are in the process of arranging my hen, and I\u2019ve set up a new business this month too!<\/p>\n

For me, 2018 is the year of joy \u2013 and so what better way to celebrate it, than with a new website dedicated to all of life\u2019s small pleasures. Through this new site I\u2019ve committed to helping support small, local and independent brands \u2013 as well as some of the bigger companies and people who have formed an important part of my life. \u00a0I\u2019ve already come into contact with some really exciting new brands and can\u2019t wait to work with them. ANYWAY! Today\u2019s post is about something completely different, and it\u2019s ridiculously exciting.<\/p>\n

If you remember in my last post, I explained that I had been very ill at the end of last year. Well, unfortunately by November I was all but housebound, unable to work at all, and we did consider cancelling our wedding entirely (I know, I know, all the cry eye emojis.).<\/p>\n

We had arranged to meet with our photographer, Chris, on the Isle of Skye to have our engagement shoot done as well as to have a celebration for Ian\u2019s birthday, but I wasn\u2019t sure I was going to make it.<\/p>\n

However, after much back and forth and soul searching, we decided to embrace some carpe diem and head up to Scotland as planned. I was really unwell during the travelling and driving through the night on a wet and cold winter night on Skye was, let\u2019s say, interesting! But boy oh boy was it worth it.<\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t been to the Isle of Skye, don\u2019t delay, get there ASAP! I was worried it wouldn\u2019t live up to the amazing things I had heard about it, but it surpassed my expectations and some!<\/p>\n

After possibly one of the worst years of my life, during this trip, at one point, I actually found myself at the bottom of a valley, with nothing but mountains around me. I mean I know it sounds ridiculous, but I \u00a0said out loud to myself \u2013 well this is it Beth \u2013 this is LITERALLY rock bottom \u2013 and the only way is up.<\/p>\n

And it was.<\/p>\n

We met with Chris and Lydia the next day, and had the MOST fun day I can remember. We adventured over moorlands, we traversed a cliff to find a waterfall, we hung out in a bothy, and we petted some highland cows. Chris sent us our pictures on Christmas Eve and I can say without hesitation that they were the perfect Christmas gift. These pictures will forever be priceless to me, as they truly capture the spirit of a couple who will stay together in the face of any adversity, these photos are the beginning of a wonderful new chapter \u2013 2018 has JOY written all over it, as if I\u2019m going to cancel my wedding \u2013 nah mate, this boy and I are in it for life.<\/p>\n
