As wedding season fast approaches and wedding invitations start dropping on your doormat, thoughts turn to wedding outfits. Even if you are getting married yourself, the chances are you will be attending a wedding or two too. Spring\/summer collections have hit the shops and there is so much choice it can be hard to know just where to begin. That\u2019s where I step in today to help! I am going to guide you through the process of selecting the perfect wedding attire this wedding season and show you my dream wedding guest outfit together with House of Fraser.<\/p>\n

House of Fraser have a vast stylish selection of wedding guest outfits<\/a> in their department store, both online and in store. When they asked me to choose my perfect wedding outfit from their collections I excitedly obliged. There is just so much choice though it was not an easy selection I can tell you. I opted for the Warehouse Trailing Floral Midi dress<\/a>, Vivienne Westwood clutch<\/a> and Dune Klicks wedge sandals<\/a>. I am going to explain just why I chose the ensemble in my hints, tips and advice for dressing for weddings below.<\/p>\n

The Dress Code<\/h2>\n

When receiving your wedding invitation, not only RSVP as swiftly as possible but also read through all of the details thoroughly and ensure you check out any links to online wedding information websites too. You\u2019re on the search for any details on the wedding dress code, or any clues you can pick up on, so that straight away you have an idea of the type of outfit to go for. If there are no dress code stipulations, it\u2019s always worth putting out feelers to members of the wedding party, perhaps not the bride or groom if they are busy with the planning, or other guests. On my own wedding website, we mentioned to guests to wear layers to keep warm in the alfresco location for example.<\/p>\n

Location Location Location<\/h2>\n

If the wedding is to be held on a farm, field or in woodland, more often than not a dress code is going to be more relaxed. If you know you are going to be walking in the countryside, I\u2019d really recommend thinking about footwear carefully. This is why I plumped for wedge heels, which are comfy, stylish and practical. No sinking into mud, gravel or grass and the ability to dance the night away too is a win win in my book. It\u2019s also worth thinking about the length of your dress in such scenarios too. Too long and you\u2019ll be ruining your hemline, too short and you may feel the chill. A midi like the frock I chose means you can feel pretty and not be worrying about ruining your beautiful new dress. Plus practical choices are a must for mums like myself who have children to run around after at a wedding reception.<\/p>\n

Seasonal Dressing<\/h2>\n

The time of year will ultimately give a really good indication of the style of attire you should be looking for. For Spring or Autumn weddings simply add an extra layer. A pashmina or cardigan and tights will most usually suffice and do keep a brolly handy just in case of showers. For summer weddings you will want to keep cool and flowing dresses are arguably the best solution. Don\u2019t forget your sunnies and SPF too! In the winter, make sure you have a really beautiful coat to keep you wrapped up and think about dresses with long sleeves. Keeping some wellies in the car is a good idea in case of blizzards too.<\/p>\n

Outfit Style<\/h2>\n

You don\u2019t just have to go for a dress. Think about trouser suits, jumpsuits, trouser and tops or skirt and top combos. The great thing about going for separates is that you can wear again in the future more easily by mixing and matching with other items from your wardrobe. Choosing luxe materials will ensure you are wedding appropriate and you will really stand out in the sea of guests in dresses. So we\u2019ve covered shoes already, but what about bags and jewellery? A simple pair of earrings, necklace or bracelet will look really elegant and add a touch of glam to your outfit. A bag is an essential for most of us and I think a clutch or small sized cross body bag is just perfect for a wedding outfit. I chose a clutch, which should be roomy enough for all my essentials, but is also classic with a touch of cool to make a bit of a statement. It will also work come the evening party at a wedding, making it a super versatile piece.<\/p>\n

Looking Like A Guest<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

I think one worry I always have when dressing for a wedding is not wearing white in case the bride is and ensuring I don\u2019t look like a member of the wedding party or bridesmaid. To tackle this I chose a floral print dress with flowing sleeves and a boho feel. Of course bridesmaids dresses now are much more diverse in style but I think a floral print dress is a fail safe when choosing a frock. Again, if you are worried about clashing with the wedding party, ask the bridesmaids or wedding party for a rough idea of what they are wearing.<\/p>\n

Feeling Beautiful<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

To really finish off your wedding guest look, think about your hair, make up and mani too. A gorgeous manicure and pedicure in a complimentary hue will really complete an outfit. Not to mention a little hair and make up styling, which will really give you a confidence boost and make you feel super glam.<\/p>\n
