One thing that always amazes and delights me in equal measure is just how different and unique every single<\/em> wedding is. Trust me, I have written over 2500 real wedding<\/a> features here at Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and they have all been totally and utterly individual. Yes the fundamental similarity is getting hitched, but the story, the ethos, the style that each couple brings to their own celebration really touches and excites me each and every time. Today’s wedding is no exception and I just adore the simple, clean style choices and minimalist feel of their special day.<\/p>\n

WWW readers Lindsey and Christopher were married on the 2nd November 2017, a beautiful Autumn day, which allowed them to tie the knot in an outdoor wedding ceremony<\/a>. Moddershall Oaks<\/a> in Staffordshire<\/a> was the one and only venue they visited, which they booked on the spot. The planning process was equally as laid back, as they wanted a wedding which was unfussy and with their loved ones by their side.<\/p>\n

They kept the blooms chic in white and greens, there was lovely rustic d\u00e9cor and a stunning log stump cake. I have to say though that the outfits are beyond sublime. Lindsey went down the custom route and had her dream dress designed for her, didn’t she look incredible? Christopher meanwhile went for a dapper look, with an open collar and black velvet slipper shoes. Oh my! On hand to capture everything in all it’s glory was Winnington & Coe<\/a> whose images just blew me away today. Thanks for sharing guys!<\/p>\n

THE PROPOSAL | Chris proposed in Paris on my birthday, sounds generic but it really wasn\u2019t. He didn\u2019t get down on one knee, he hadn\u2019t rehearsed what he wanted to say and in the moment, the only words he managed to get out were \u201cI love you. You know I really love you\u201d And then we both were silent and totally in shock. It wasn\u2019t a prepared proposal but it was absolutely amazing.<\/p>\n

THE VISION | We really didn\u2019t want anything fussy for the wedding. Our vision was basically classic and rustic. Once we had found our venue, we realised that it was absolutely beautiful as it was, so we were really keen to maintain the essence of that venue as much as possible. So we really didn\u2019t want to add much, but what we did add was clean and simple with neutral colours. We were very aware that because it would be autumn outside we didn\u2019t want to try and emulate the warm colours, so we just chose white flowers to keep it really simple.<\/p>\n

THE PLANNING PROCESS | The planning process was so relaxed much to everyone else\u2019s annoyance. We were so laid back, if our venue and family hadn\u2019t reminded us to do certain things, we would have totally forgotten! We are both such laid back people and we really didn\u2019t want fussy wedding, so for us, as long as we were there and our family and people we loved were there, the other details weren\u2019t hugely important to us.<\/p>\n

THE VENUE | Initially, Chris had his mind set on getting married in Devon as that\u2019s where his parents live, so I was desperately searching for a beautiful venue closer to home. We found Moddershall Oaks and visited the venue; after walking around for half an hour I just knew \u201cyep, this is it\u201d. We sat down with Katie who was our wedding planner for the day and I just burst into tears; it was just so perfect! We didn\u2019t even look at any other venues, we just put down a deposit that day and secured our date.<\/p>\n

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was from Nadine Merabi who predominantly makes prom and evening wear dresses. Having gone to a few bridal shops I was just so confused, there was too much choice and I was struggling to envisage what the dresses would look like because none of them fit properly. I knew in my head I wanted a really simple silhouette in a really cool fabric. I found Nadine on Instagram and sent her a message and that was it! I had the best time with her and she was absolutely phenomenal. Her entire team was amazing and I really enjoyed the experience. Everything I asked for, she brought to life. When I put on my dress it was perfect, effortless, I would highly recommend her as a dressmaker.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t wear any jewellery on the day, but I just wore an Olivia Burton watch in rose gold. Chris also gave me my wedding present two weeks early when he surprised me by coming home with a pair of beautiful Jimmy Choo shoes, which he had chosen for me.<\/p>\n

FINDING THE DRESS | Once Nadine had agreed to make my dress, she was amazing and made the whole process so easy for me. We planned in all the dates that I would need to travel to Manchester to try it on for fittings. The process was seamless very enjoyable to plan and design my own dress. I knew I wanted my dress custom made rather than buying in a store, and I\u2019m so happy that I did.<\/p>\n

GROOM\u2019S ATTIRE | Chris, being the laid back guy that he is, got his suit within the same week that we were getting married. We had decided that he wouldn\u2019t wear a formal suit for the wedding as he hates wearing ties and just wanted to be comfortable. We decided to go for a tight trouser, plain black blazer and an open white shirt. His shoes were gifted to him from his work at \u2018Giuseppe Zanotti\u2019 and they chose a black velvet slipper shoe.<\/p>\n

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We didn\u2019t want anything too traditional for a reading and we were also very conscious that we were going to be getting married outside in November, so we needed to keep it short and sweet. Because of this, we cut out as much as we could from the ceremony. However, the readings and vows that we did choose were based around friendship and having fun together which we feel is the foundations of mine and Chris\u2019 relationship.<\/p>\n

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had two bridesmaids, my sister and best friend and one bridesman who is also a best friend of mine. We ordered the dresses from Asos. I knew I wanted them to wear navy dresses with a dark lip, so it was really just a case of finding something to suit everybody, which was winter appropriate and also elegant and simple. We ordered 3 different styles to try on, and the one we chose fit everybody perfectly. I allowed my male bridesman to choose a suit to match with the girls. I also had three flower girls who wore dresses from M&S, which were adorable, and the girls looked beautiful.<\/p>\n

THE FLOWERS | Lily-White Florist, which is a local florist to where we live, provided our bouquets and table decorations. We explained to them that we wanted to keep it simple and classic and they were great at recommending a beautiful vase for the centrepieces to go in and the wooden log which they sat on. I wanted to keep all the flowers white with greenery to keep it rustic, and then the little flower girls had bunches of gypsophila which looked beautiful.<\/p>\n

THE CAKE | Chris\u2019 brother runs a company called Fine Food Matters so he kindly made our wedding cake as a gift. He stuck with the woodland theme so made the cake like a log style at the top and the rest of the tiers white, with strawberries and chocolate around the edge. The tiers were all different flavours, we had salted caramel, chocolate and carrot cake. It was delicious and looked beautiful, plus, there was none left at the end of the night which was great. It was also so lovely that it was made by someone in the family.<\/p>\n

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We chose Elle and Ben from Winnington & Coe as their style of shooting is really laid back, very similar to us and the style of wedding we were going for. We didn\u2019t want anything forced or anything really staged. These guys did an amazing job at bringing that vision to life and all of our photos show all our guests just having a really great time, which we love to look back on.<\/p>\n

THE DETAILS & D\u00c9COR | We wanted to keep it really simple as Moddershall Oaks is such a beautiful venue. We chose to get married outside and didn\u2019t want any additional decoration as the gazebo is already so stunning. Inside, we chose taffeta bows to keep it rustic. We wanted the tables to be all about the candles so had loads of tea lights around the tables. As our wedding favour, we also had sparklers on the tables, which we later utilized for some of our photographs.<\/p>\n

THE HONEYMOON | We decided to go to New York and spend a week having absolutely loads of fun! We thought about having a beach holiday together, but decided we really wanted to go and spend some real quality time together, seeing loads of amazing new things, and start making phenomenal memories. It was such an amazing week.<\/p>\n

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Our first moment alone when we had photos together, all of the nerves slipped away. Prior to us being alone it was very tense, and we were very aware that we were on show, but as soon as we were alone, we had a drink and we were totally ready to enjoy the rest of the day. Seeing my family and friends for the first time when I walked down the aisle was also amazing and very emotional. I really felt the love.<\/p>\n

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Try not to get tied up in the things you can\u2019t have for your wedding. It\u2019s so easy to get carried away in wanting everything to be perfect and having x y z there, but all that\u2019s really important is that you and your future husband or wife is there, you\u2019re loved ones are there. Anything outside of that is an additional bonus. Enjoy the process of planning it, but don\u2019t stress yourself out about things that aren\u2019t there because on the day you don\u2019t miss them. Enjoy each other and it being the only day you have everyone you adore in one place.<\/p>\n
