The renovation of our bathroom and master bedroom with en suite was a big project to say the least. The biggest we’ve ever undertaken as property owners.<\/p>\n

The plan became to split the large family bathroom into a family bathroom and en suite<\/strong>, with a little re-jig of the layout.<\/p>\n

1930s Bathroom<\/em> Renovation & Pink Roll Top Bath<\/h2>\n

So back to the bathroom, it was going to be a little smaller due to splitting the room in two, but still roomy enough for a family to use. A lot of building work was involved though and we were sensible enough to book our family holiday in the middle of it all.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t the most fun of processes, but luckily we have a downstairs shower room<\/strong> we could use whilst the upstairs was being renovated.<\/p>\n

As you can see below, the whole bathroom was pink; pink tiles and pink bath. Sadly I don’t have a full before photo, but there was also a pink bidet<\/span>, a pink sink, a pink shower tray and even a pink toilet… I think you get the gist, this room was pink<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Now don’t get me wrong I just love pink, but it was really in need of a revamp<\/strong>. As you will see in the after photos I did keep a touch of pink in there though.<\/p>\n

The Build<\/h3>\n

One of the great parts of this room was the roof light, which we lost in the bathroom, but kept in the en suite. So one of the main issues was getting some natural light<\/strong> into the room as there are no windows.<\/p>\n

So we chose to install a light tunnel<\/strong> as a solution, which has been great. Although it has become a bit of a dirt trap which is why I haven’t shared any photos (we need to open up and give it a good clean).<\/p>\n

As you can see below we knocked out the airing cupboard<\/strong> to give more space to the new room, and after dismantling plus removing everything we split the rooms into two. We also had to replace the majority of the floor, so it really was a starting from scratch kind of a project.<\/p>\n

We had a re-plaster and our builder did the building work. We had a plumber to do all the plumbing and an electrician for the underfloor heating mat<\/strong>, extractor fan and lighting. Then finally a tiler came in to do the tiling throughout, but we did the painting and decorating.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
