On the blog today we share the wedding of James and Sydney who got married The Singer Tavern. Their day was captured by Lorna of Story Wedding Photography<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I warmed to James and Sydney straight away. They had the relaxed air of a couple who had been together for a while and were very connected. I knew James was really into photography, and he had lots of ideas and enthusiasm, which was great. Sydney surprised me, as she struck me as quite shy and said she didn\u2019t like having her photo taken, yet on the day, she truly shone and looked confident and beautiful in every frame \u2013 I think the happiness and excitement of their day took over!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

As weddings go, there weren\u2019t really any hiccups. The weather was lovely for October, and guests mingled outside at various points. They had hired a Routemaster to take everybody from Stoke Newington Town Hall to The Singer Tavern, which always creates a fun atmosphere amongst guests. Or perhaps it was the champagne they served on board! Later in the evening, they hired a fabulous DJ company that lets guests \u2018do a set\u2019 each, which meant loads of laughing and loads of dancing!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

About the Photographer<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I capture weddings as well as editorial portraits. I am currently part of an exhibition at Westminster where 209 female photographers have captured 209 female MPs. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love my job \u2013 if I have a camera in my hand and a person to capture, I am at peace.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Style<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I would say my style is modern and unobtrusive. With weddings, I try to stay in the background as much as possible, and years of experience have given me a good instinct for being in the right place at the right time to get the perfect shot. For portraits, I also try to direct as little as possible, simply encouraging and cheering people on.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

At weddings, I always love the morning preparations; the air is electric with anticipation, and everybody looks fresh and beautiful. I think my favourite part of James and Sydney\u2019s wedding was the speeches. They had been through a lot as a couple, and you could feel the love and admiration for them amongst all their friends and family. This naturally makes you reflect on your own friends and family, and it can be very moving. Embarrassingly, I often shed a tear at weddings!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Advice<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The best advice I\u2019d give to wedding couples is advice that I would apply to their whole lives: Visualise and plan your dream day, then relax and let go! There is so much preparation involved in any wedding, but things rarely go exactly to plan. The best approach is to exhale, laugh, and revel in all the people who love you in the room.<\/p>\r\n
