Violet and Steve\u2019s wedding was all about keeping it real. Their intimate ceremony at Brighton & Hove Registrars in April 2024 was followed by a seaside photoshoot and a relaxed reception at FOURTH AND CHURCH restaurant in Hove. Only nine of their closest friends and family joined them, a deliberate choice for this couple who\u2019ve seen their fair share of weddings.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cI\u2019ve planned a lot of weddings for other people,\u201d Violet says. \u201cIt all just looked too stressful! Too many people turning up that weren\u2019t supposed to, things going wrong\u2026 I didn\u2019t want any of that.\u201d Instead, they focused on making the day special for themselves.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
They saved \u00a315,000 over several years but only ended up spending half. Their biggest splurges? A photographer to capture their memories and a stay at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, an iconic seafront spot. \u201cBreakfast is done, the room\u2019s all done, there are two bars downstairs\u2014everything is sorted for you,\u201d Steve says.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Violet did her own makeup, baked a traditional Jamaican black cake, and even recorded their wedding song. Steve\u2019s son performed a song and gave a heartfelt speech, adding a personal touch that no hired entertainer could match. <\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
