This afternoon i have the pleasure of sharing the work of Buckinghamshire based photographer Mike Garrard.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mike aims to be one of the best wedding photographers<\/a> around with a focus on a photo journalistic style while taking time out to capture great couple portraits too. I love the classic timeless feel of his photographs and just know<\/em> you will too.<\/p>\n

Hi Mike, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hi, I\u2019m Mike. I\u2019ve been photographing weddings for 7 years now, all over the UK and overseas. I got married myself a couple of years ago, so I have the feeling of what it\u2019s like to be on either side of the camera!<\/p>\n

Outside of photography you\u2019ll find me at the movies\u2026 a lot! My wife and I are big film fans, and I love trying to bring elements of what I see on the big screen to stills photography.<\/p>\n

What do you love\/dislike about your job?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Working at weddings is very much about working with people, which suits me great. I\u2019d like to think I\u2019m very friendly and I love learning the story behind the relationship that gets revealed as the day pans out.<\/p>\n

How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

I was always a photographer, having originally learned to shoot and develop film, and it\u2019s always been photographing people that motivates me. Weddings were a natural progression from commercial photography, as they let me focus on people\u2019s stories and personalities while I still get to take great portraits as part of the day too.<\/p>\n

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Above all else I want my clients to have a \u2018wow\u2019 reaction when they see everything for the first time, and be reminded about how special their day was. I try to shoot warm and emotional pictures so I really like to see people smile, particularly when they see moments from their wedding that they didn\u2019t see for themselves first hand.<\/p>\n

What style is your work?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

I love photojournalism – trying to capture the perfect unstaged moment \u2013 so I spend so much of the day searching for those unique, defining moments that every wedding has. Unlike a lot of documentary wedding photographers though, I also really enjoy capturing great couple portraits, so I enjoy the time that the three of us take away from the rest of the wedding party to make some really beautiful images.<\/p>\n

Could you tell us some information about your packages\/prices?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m a firm believer in keeping things simple, so I have just one package, which is priced at \u00a32,500. My coverage is totally unlimited so clients don\u2019t have to worry about how many hours they need a photographer for, and I personally believe that so many of the best moments happen late into the evening. Every client also receives approximately 500-600 unique images in high resolution format, as well as a beautiful Queensberry album.<\/p>\n

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographers?<\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

As I learned when I got married myself, there is a lots of choice, but once I\u2019d narrowed things down to a few photographers whose work I really loved from looking on their website, it really came down to what they were like as people. You have to feel relaxed with your photographer so it really helps if you get on pretty well and can share a joke!<\/p>\n
