Tell couples about your experience and approach
My experience is broad. I have taught wedding and many other areas and levels of photography. I have also shot well over 400 weddings in the UK and many location abroad. My approach is intimate and highly observational. I prefer to observe rather orchestrate.
Are you super chatty or will be you be a fly on the wall?
I'm not chatty at all. I take pictures of everything that I find interesting, funny, emotional and so forth. My entire concentration is focused on the photography.
What can couples do to get the most out of their wedding photography on the day?
That's not really for me to say, they are all so different. But one thing I would suggest, is don't expect a streamlined, glitch free event, because you won't get one. Just enter into the spirit of celebration and happiness.....and choose your photographer wisely. Because the images will be all that's left to remember it by.
What are your artistic influences?
Many. I do love art but am more traditional in that my tastes include Impressionism, neo-romantacism, surrealism and abstract (Miro, Kandinsky, Klee et al) my photographic influences are almost entirely based on first generation Magnum pioneers; Brassaï, Bresson, Marc Ribaud, Willy Ronis, Bruce Davidson et al.
What was your favourite wedding shoot, and why?
I don't have a favourite. I have some which are more memorable than others. I have shot 4 day events in India, weddings held in the beer gardens of Munich, functioning steam-museums, in the Mountains of Spain and so forth.
What kinds of moments are you looking to capture?
I look to capture any moment which elicits some kind of emotional response, be that, love, humour, intimacy, romance, drama, empathy, beauty, friendship, to name a few.
Why should couples choose you as a photographer?
Couples should choose me if they like my work, my very relaxed yet professional approach and my very competitive fees.
What is the most important thing to you when you photograph weddings?
To be discreet, professional, and efficient, approachable yet unobtrusive.
