I used to be a commercial fashion and advertising photographer up until the early 90's but decided to plough headlong into wedding capture, in truth I wanted to make a difference. Wedding photography at that time was super formal and static, it didn't show personality just endless groups of people and lots of soft focus! Due to my magazine background my style from the beginning was free flowing, informal and fresh, in direct contrast to my competitors at the time. Today I really work to achieve the very best story telling images for my clients, I want them to have something exciting, special and often unique and different to take away. In a career of 30 or so years I have shot over 1000 weddings now spread over four countries, attended ceremonies from the Ritz to the Savoy, beautiful castles from Leeds to Hever and stunning hotels from Eastwell Manor to Chilston Park. And certainly honoured to be ranked within the top 1% of wedding photographers in the United Kingdom. I'm truly passionate about my work and the style and ideas that go into each image that I take. I'm relaxed, approachable and patient with a certain amount of humour : ) important qualities if you want to get the best out of people. At the end of the day your wedding is all about you. Your family, friends and relatives are there to celebrate with you. Be your true self with all your quirky personality. Do things that make you happy, I will be there to record those moments and so much more.
For the most part I am in the background telling the story of the day through the lens, at times to get the best for my clients I might suggest certain things which might enhance the image, formal family shots, at times couple shots.
Relax and enjoy the day, trust the people that you have carefully chosen and have fun!
Photographers I admire; Edward Burtynsky, Sebastião Salgado, Elizabeth Messina
I don't think that I have a favourite wedding, many are favourites and for different reasons.
