When I was asked if I'd be a celebrant at a summer wedding, I was thrilled, then I was told it was a Sister Act-themed service.

So we had dancing altar boys, a full gospel choir and me, dressed as the victor or pope, I'm still not sure!
Everyone loved it, creating a playful and funny mood so fitting for the couple.

Whilst I was dressed in robes and a big hat, my service was still one totally written for them, full of their story and love, from day one of initial planning (and watching the film) to going over each detail to ensure we had the right mix of crazy with the right mix of "traditional bits to keep the Nan's happy" It's all about the story that needs to be told and the people in the room!

It was an honour to conduct their ceremony, and it was so much fun being part of something they 100% wanted!

Cherry is an independent celebrant from Birmingham uk.

Certified by the Academy of Modern Celebrancy to deliver rock n’ roll style weddings that break a few rules.

At the heart of any ceremony is you and your story, and it’s one not hold back on!

Traditional or off the wall? Religion or pop culture? Subtle or loud & proud - your ceremony will be written and curated how you want it to be.

Want to have your dog walk you down the aisle while your favourite song is playing - easy.
Want to dress up, cosplay or masquerade - why not?
Want to have the whole room laughing one minute and crying happy tears the next? - its’ n the bag!

Kick off with a 20-minute or so consultation with Cherry to talk about your ideas, you’ll then have a longer meeting face-to-face or over Zoom/Teams or in person to start planning.

The script will be written and sent to you for amendments.

You’ll have a constant WhatsApp connection, perfect for those 2 am “I just remembered Auntie Carol wants to do a reading…” or “actually we met in 2011, not 2012” moments - allowing you to carry on your wedding planning stress-free!

The package includes an additional face-to-face meeting, and this can be at home, a pub, a coffee14 shop, wherever you feel comfortable talking about the big day.

We can also do a venue visit with a mini rehearsal if required, so you know where to stand, sit, etc. and put your mind at ease that you won’t be surprised on the day!

I’d be happy to also include a symbolic moment in the service, this could be handfasting, a sand ceremony, warming of the rings or something 100% unique and made up by you to symbolise your bond.

Other services include “Master of Ceremonies” style - introductions, hosting the speeches or an activity and welcoming you to the dancefloor for the first dance - whatever style of dance you choose. This is charged at £50 per hour when booked with a wedding.

The £795 package includes travel up to 65 miles from Birmingham for the service and any meetings. Additional miles can be arranged - I’m flexible!

I'm an independent celebrant, which means I can do pretty much whatever you'd like. This includes any faith, culture or ideology you have - it's all welcome here!

Firstly, I love, love and feel it needs to be celebrated in all of its forms! As a celebrant, my role is to tell your story, how you want it to be told - with music, with pop culture, with words, with laughter, with tears (happy tears) I'll bring the room together, and you want everyone singing your favourite Metallica song as you walk in, great, if you want your dog to bring you the ring, let's do it. I understand the need for personalisation, breaking with the norm and having a day as truly unique as you are. I'll spend time with you both to learn about what is important, what's not and how we can make your day the one you want, and not the one social media says you have to have. That's not to say we can't add tradition in - it's your day, we live it your way!
