Meet Emma

I have always been addicted to a good story and love to tell it, be it through a painting, or a dramatic retelling. I really want to know all about you, and the twists and turns of your story. I want to hear the stories that make you laugh out loud and the ones that bring a tear to your eye. But, before you tell me about you, here is a little of my own story…

I am a creative at heart, I am an Artist, Art Teacher, a Theatre designer and an amateaur actress. I love to travel and was lucky enough to spend 8 glorious years living and working in Tanzania basking under the African sun. However I have always been pretty unlucky in love as the Monkees so aptly put it ‘I thought love was only true in fairy tales, meant for someone else but not for me.’ Then after returning to live in the UK with my rescue dog Rugby, on one fateful dog walk, under the grey clouds of Oxford I met the man who would become my life partner, Brian. He, his bearded dragon Moana and his son soon became Rugby and I’s blended family, and a few years later we added our daughter Cora to the mix. Now I truly am ‘a Believer’ and like most people who are happily matched I want to share the love. It is my great honour to marry people who have been lucky enough to find their lobster. I love to create a ceremony that is entirely unique to you, your quirks will be celebrated and the rule book will be thrown out of the window. I want your ceremony to be joyous, upbeat, with lots of smiles and laughter and an occasional happy tear.

Love is Love and I would be honoured to marry couples, from any gender, sexuality, religion, or culture. I am excited about learning about your life, your beliefs, your traditions and your interests but most of all the story of you as a couple.

Your wedding ceremony will be entirely unique to you and this will take some planning. Below is a general schedule from now up until your wedding day:

A short, free, no obligation meeting face to face on the phone where we get to know a bit about each other. You can share your ‘big picture’ of the wedding and ask me any questions you have about the process ahead.

If you feel we are a good fit and you decide to book me for your big day and after you have secured your booking I will send you a couple’s questionnaire for you to fill out, both together and alone. This will hopefully get you thinking, get you giggling and get you reminiscing. This will help me to make a ceremony that is right for you.

After receiving your questionnaire my creative juices will be flowing. I will be putting together some ceremony options for you, including readings, potential layouts for the ceremony and wedding rituals. We will have our first big meeting where we take a deep dive into you, your relationship and your wedding.

I will then spend some time putting together your ceremony script, incorporating all we have discussed in our last meeting.

In meeting number 3 I will read you the first draft of your script and together we can firm up the details and make any alterations. This script can be tweaked and added to until you are both 100% happy with it over the next few weeks on the lead up to the wedding. I’m on the other end of the phone or an email if you have any questions, ideas or worries about your ceremony. If you need help together or individually writing your vows, i’m here for you.

I will send you ‘The Step in Time Celebrant’ wedding certificate and presentation script to help you to reminisce for years to come.

Availability Following our initial meeting I will hold the date for you for 7 days pending receipt of your booking fee. Cancellation and Postponement In the event of postponement only those fees already incurred will be deemed due. Emma Morton, will endeavor to make themselves available for the new date, or will seek to find a trusted replacement celebrant who will work to the script you have developed together. Booking fees and draft script fees will remain valid for up to 1 year from the original ceremony date after which they will be retained by Emma Morton and forfeited. If you choose to cancel after the statutory 14 days fees will be due as follows: Booking fee non-refundable Balance of payment fully refundable up to 28 days prior to the ceremony. Non-refundable fewer than 28 days before the ceremony. Legal Status This ceremony will not be legally recognised in England and Wales. To formalise the legal requirements you must attend a registrar's office. All correspondence, documentation, including draft and final scripts remain copyright of Emma Morton and must be shared only with express written consent. How I hold and use your data Your personal data name/address/tel number/email address will be held on my computer for 1 year after the ceremony. I will retain a printed copy of your client details with the booking form for HMRC purposes. All other printed information is shredded and disposed of. The only computer records I will keep beyond the end of the year of your ceremony is the script that I have produced. I do not pass your details on to any third parties without your express permission. *If you would like me to delete your data sooner just let me know and I will comply.*
