A bit of both. I’m friendly, chatty and happy to get involved when it helps people relax, but I’m not there to dominate the day. Most of the time I blend in, watch what’s happening and photograph the moments as they unfold. When direction is needed, I’ll step in, organise things quickly, make people laugh if I can, then get out of the way again.
I’ve been photographing weddings professionally since 2007, so I’ve seen just about every version of a wedding day, from quiet registry office ceremonies to large celebrations with packed dancefloors. My approach is calm, observant and flexible. I spend most of the day watching for real moments rather than constantly directing people, but I’ll step in when it helps, whether that’s organising groups, finding good light or giving you a little guidance during couple portraits. I want the photography to fit around the wedding, not the other way around. The aim is always to give you a gallery that feels like your day, full of the people, reactions, atmosphere and moments that made it yours.
The most important thing to know is that I won’t turn your wedding into a photoshoot. I’ll give you direction when you need it, keep the organised parts efficient, and spend the rest of the day watching for the real moments. You do not need to be confident in front of the camera or know how to pose. My job is to make the photography feel easy, so you can concentrate on enjoying the people and the day itself.
Crowcombe Court, St Audries Park, Orchardleigh House, Elmhay Park, Priston Mill, Guildhall Bath, Quantock Lakes, Dairyhouse Farm, Clevedon Hall, Arnos Vale, Aldwick Estate, Berwick Lodge, Coombe Lodge, Almonry Barn, Pennard House, Waterside Country Barn, Cothelstone Manor, Hestercombe, Taunton School, Castle Hotel, Holbrook Manor, Yarlington Barn, Batch Country House, and many many more.
Because I bring experience without making the day feel over-managed. I know when to step in, when to give a little direction and when to disappear into the background and let things happen. I’m especially good with couples who feel awkward in front of the camera. You won’t be expected to pose perfectly or know what to do. I’ll keep things simple, relaxed and efficient, while still creating a gallery that feels full of personality, emotion and real moments. You’ll also get fast delivery, careful hand-editing and someone who genuinely cares about the whole experience, not just the photos.
