Any of our lovely couples will tell you we are always friendly and chatty and can always be approached - a big part of getting great wedding photos is establishing a good rapport with the newlyweds! During the day, whether we are chatty or a fly on the wall depends on the situation. For example, for the group shots and classic wedding portraiture many couples prefer a hands-on and traditional approach where we will be gently directing the scenes to get the best photos. However during the ceremony and reception we specialise in candid reportage photography. You will not expect to see us often - we hang back and shoot the scenes as they unfold. If we've done our job well, we are hardly noticed.
In a word: relaxed. We are there to document your day and capture beautiful memories that you'll treasure forever. We pride ourselves on being friendly, approachable, and always open to new ideas. You focus on having the best day of your life. We'll focus on capturing those incredible moments that made it uniquely yours.
We have a shared love of nature, landscapes, seascapes and the night sky. These are the things we photograph for our own enjoyment and in our own free time. Have a look at our portfolio and you'll see these influences in our artistic choices behind the camera. We love to incorporate your surroundings with your wedding portraiture. Epic vistas, historic landmarks, and twinkling stars have all served as our canvas for creating unforgettable wedding portraits for our couples. If you're getting married somewhere epic, you definitely want to give us a call! We also understand that not every wedding venue can be a castle or a stately home. This is why we often whisk our couples away from their reception for some precious moments at a photogenic location nearby. Jump on a call with us and we can discuss options near to your venue.
Communicate with us your expectations and inspiration beforehand. Seen a wedding photo you like? Send it to us. Seen a wedding photo you hate? Send that to us too. It all helps us build a picture of what you want out of the day. Unless you are also a photographer you can't be expected to give us a technical breakdown of you want your shots. However, you will know when you like what you see - let us know and we'd love to discuss the possibilities. If you have absolutely no idea where to begin, try our portfolio. We pride ourselves on having a very diverse selection of shots, so see what takes your fancy.
By far the most important thing that matters to us is that you, our clients, are delighted with the photos and with the service we provide. Everything we discuss and plan, capture on the day, and deliver afterwards is with this goal in mind. (Having said that, a few canapes during the reception can really help keep the energy levels up! If you could price in a couple of extra salmon blinis for the photographer we're always ever so grateful.)
It's difficult to whittle this down but in general we are always looking to photograph new venues along the M4 corridor, particularly around Cardiff, Bristol, the Cotswolds and the Home Counties. We have recently opened up bookings in London too. If you're getting married at the following venues, get in touch because these are high on our "bucket list" of wedding venues: Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion - Fforest, Wolfscastle, Grove of Narberth, The National Botanic Gardens, Ffos Las Racecourse, Cardigan Castle Swansea, Gower, Bridgend, Brecon - Patti Pavilion, Oldwalls, Tall Johns House, Craig Y Nos Cardiff, Newport, Monmouth - Cardiff Castle, De Courceys Manor, Penarth Pier, The Celtic Manor, Gileston Manor, St Tewdrics
There are some elements of a wedding day that your photographer will direct - the big group shots, the family photos, and the classic portraits of the newlyweds. However, this is just a small part of your day. The rest of the day we prefer to be a part of the background, capturing moments as they happen. Through our photographs we want to tell the story of your day, but we don't want to write it. Real reactions, unstaged. A delighted groom watching his bride arrive. A parent shedding a tear. Your guests laughing during the speeches. These are the moments that cannot be staged, they are as beautiful as they are fleeting. It takes a skilled and empathetic photographer, working unobtrusively, to capture these memories.
Though we do not take ourselves too seriously and are very relaxed people, we take our job as your wedding photographer very seriously because we love what we do. There is a lot of thought, skill and practice that has gone into our craft. Capturing your memories is not just a job to us, it is a privilege that we take very seriously. For most of us, our wedding photos hang in our homes, we will see them every day. Invest in us to capture that day for you and you will receive images that you will treasure forever, which will remind you every day of your beautiful wedding.
This is like asking which is your favourite child! Every wedding shoot tells its own beautiful story and has its own compelling moments, so it's very difficult to choose. From a purely photographic perspective - capturing a shooting star in the night sky above one of our couples at Caldicot Castle is one of our favourite portfolio pieces, and one that is impossible to replicate. (No, this was not Photoshopped!)
Without doing some serious combing of our calendar it will be difficult to list the entire list, but here is a very short list of some of the larger venues we have worked in recent years, plus personal favourites where we are regulars. Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion - Carew Castle, Gellifawr, The Cliff Hotel, Llety Cynin, Ivy Bush, Carmarthen Register Office, Green Grove Barns, the Plough Rhosmaen, Sylen Lakes, Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel, Falcondale Lampeter, Ceridwen Centre Swansea, Gower, Bridgend, Brecon - Fairyhill, King Arthur Hotel, Court Colman Manor, Bryngarw House, Oxwich Bay, Morgans Hotel, Margam Park, Manor Crickhowell, The Great House Laleston Cardiff, Newport, Monmouth - Hensol Castle, Vale Resort, Voco St Davids, Caerphilly Castle, Caldicot Castle, Llanerch Vineyard, Sant Ffraed
We both share similar qualities which we believe makes us a great choice to photograph your wedding. 1. Skill. Knowing our camera settings like the back of our hands is just part of the technical skill. We are able to adapt to changing weather, indoor and outdoor environments, and low light conditions to create beautiful images. 2. Empathy. We are truly invested in your day. We will be laughing along with the speeches and yes, on occasion we shed a tear during your vows. 3. Sensitivity and inclusivity. We are DBS-checked and have extensive experience photographing people of all ages, ethnicities, cultures, orientation and physical abilities. Please make us aware of any guests or customs we need to pay special attention to and we will discreetly tailor our efforts according to your wishes. 4. Artistic vision. We love creative wedding photos that are different to the norm. Bring us your inspiration, or let us pitch you our ideas. 5. Communication. We know how to communicate with the key players that make your wedding happen, and gently direct them to make your shots happen. From a vicar to the bar staff, from your grandparents to toddlers. Crucially, we will confidently direct your guests for the group shots. 6. Experience. We are punctual and organised, and we've done this a lot! By understanding the flow of a wedding, we can now anticipate a lot of the key shots before they happen, such as the first look, first kiss, and reactions to speeches. 7. Backups. You are in safe hands but should the unexpected occur, we factor in some alternative plans. We travel with a second camera, extra lenses and multiple batteries. Immediately after the wedding, your images are backed up. 8. Flexibility of style. Many wedding photographers tend to offer a fixed aesthetic that they offer, but we like to turn this idea on its head. Check out our portfolio and you'll see a broad spectrum of styles and looks, reflecting our clients personalities and tailored to their choice of venue and aesthetic. Classic portraiture, black and white, candid reportage, bold and colourful, rustic, avant garde - we can do it all.
