Imogen + helping hands
Photo by Sam + Yaz – Imogen and Jeremy were married in a French chateau, deep within the Loire Valley. On the morning of her wedding, Imogen and her bridesmaids were very calm and quiet. As Imogen was getting dressed, the bridesmaids helped with all the final details. This image shows Imogen after she had put on her veil. Instinctively, her friends reached in to help her flip it back over her face, preparing for her entrance down the long, sweeping staircase.
I love my head piece
Photo by Alexa Poppe Wedding Photography – This is from Lynsey and Ricky’s fabulous Lowerbarns wedding during the bridal prep. Lynsey and her friends had a great time getting ready, and this relaxed vibe carried through the rest of the day. There was so much fun and laughter with this bunch. Bridal prep is one of my favourite times to capture—filled with details, excitement, and plenty of opportunities to get close to the action. I love this shot because it captures all the excitement at the start of the wedding day and Lynsey’s casual approach to having her picture taken, even with what, let’s be honest, isn’t the most flattering accessory on her head.
The excitement of bridal prep
Photo by Sarah Williams Photography – This is my gorgeous bride Gabby having her makeup done for her wedding at Upwaltham Barns in Sussex. The barns feature a beautiful cottage for getting ready, and the light was just perfect when I captured this moment. I also love black and white photography, and I felt this image was ideal for it.
In the nature
Photo by Nabis Photographers/Chiara Ridolfi – I was in Ponzano Romano, photographing a wedding near Rome at a location featuring an ancient church. I took this portrait of the bride, who was so happy and excited.
Reflective Bride
Photo by Lynne Kennedy Photography – Liezl had travelled all the way from South Africa to the Isle of Skye to marry her partner, Simon. She was excited but also a little emotional before the ceremony, and this shot was taken while she composed herself before heading to the ceremony.
Love is Enough
Photo by Becky Harley Photography – This shot is of the beautiful bride Dominique getting ready for her wedding to Nick at Pendrell Hall. She took a moment to check how she looked in the mirror of the bridal suite before heading down the stairs to the ceremony.
Bride à la Louvre
Photo by Ap-Art Photography / Pete – The Louvre Palace is a magical place where possibilities are endless. With its stunning architecture, captivating light, the bride, and the connection, there’s a touch of magic. It’s a game that has to be won!
Bride à la Louvre
Photo by Ap-Art Photography / Pete – Shooting at The Louvre Palace is a pure joy. The blend of old and new architecture, a bit of luck with the weather, and, most importantly, the beautiful bride all come together to create an unforgettable experience.
Red
Photo by Roberto Schiumerini – I think it’s beautiful the contrast that is created between the red of this wall with the white dress of the bride
Back
Photo by Roberto Schiumerini – Few photographers are interested photographing the back of the brides. I think the back is very charming and sensual.
John Steel Photography
Photo by John Steel Photography – At this wedding at Park Plaza, Leeds, the bride and groom had a brass band playing. The bride decided to borrow the trombone and strike a few fun poses!
Wedding is fun
Photo by Pedro Filipe Fotografia – I guess the picture speaks for herself.
A fun and happy bride.
Those final moments
Photo by Art by Design Photography / Steve Wheller – This was taken at the bride’s house just before her father saw her in her dress. Amidst the chaos of everyone rushing around, Abbie took a few moments to put on her wedding shoes for the first time.
The Mapplethorpe bride
Photo by Ebourne Images – This picture was taken in Greece. I love drawing inspiration from great artists, painters, and photographers. This pose was inspired by one of Robert Mapplethorpe’s self-portraits.
Jade
Photo by Matt Guest Photography – This was taken during the speeches. As Jade’s dad spoke, you could see from her face how proud she was to have him there. I remember the tears started flowing shortly after from both of them.
Quiet reflexions
Photo by The Gibsons – This bride, hailing from Arizona, America, eloped with her partner to Glenapp Castle in Scotland. This beautiful, quiet moment was captured while the bride put on her earrings. There is a sense of calmness and deep reflection in this photo that I absolutely love.
bride and her dress
Photo by Jordi Tudela – Esther, the bride, contemplates her dress. Later, she would marry Ivan at Can Torrents.
Just Married
Photo by Danielle Smith Photography – This photo was taken just after Jacqui and James were married at Jacqui’s local church, where she grew up. I love the happiness oozing from her expression, and her veil is incredible.
The Fix
Photo by Duncan McCall Photography – There are two moments during prep that offer a chance to capture some interesting spray effects: hairspray and makeup fixer. I usually position my flash to be ready for these moments and managed to capture Taryn getting her makeup fixer applied in this shot. I love how the spray is highlighted, giving the shot real impact.
Fairytale
Photo by Fiona Walsh Photography – This venue provided such stunning grand scenes; Becca and I were both thrilled to use this hallway.
‘Never look back’
Now, this is The Moment!
It’s the most important few seconds in a lifetime. After a long period of planning, thinking about every detail of the wedding day, making countless choices, and facing many worries and discussions, that morning finally arrives. It brings joy, happiness, and excitement. But there is THAT ONE MOMENT that makes you realise that, once you put those shoes on, you will take The Most Important Step of your life. You won’t be able to look back or change anything, but it will definitely change your life.
It’s that fleeting second that makes you realise how significant those shoes are. They are the final detail that completes the transition from Bride to Wife!
Creativity through objects
Photo by Nick Rutter Photography – Lovely Emily, captured while she was having her makeup done on the coast in Dorset.
Touching first look
Photo by Magia Obrazu – It was one of the most beautiful moments of the wedding. Klaudia, the bride, was so moved when she saw her husband-to-be for the first time on their wedding day that she couldn’t stop her tears.
Charlotte taking a moment before the ceremony
Photo by Jacob and Pauline Photography and Film – I captured this beautiful moment just a few minutes before the bride walked down the aisle. I love how calm and emotional this shot is.

bathroom
Photo by KTF Fotografie – The picture was taken in a castle at Echteld. I captured this moment before she met the groom.
Runaway Bride
Photo by Davide Bartolai – In the second image, I caught the bride walking in the meadow, and she reminded me of the film Runaway Bride. I burst out laughing!
Waiting
Photo by Stonelock Photography / Ally Whitlock – Jess was ready so early that she was sitting in the hotel reception, waiting for the London taxi to arrive and take her and her dad from The Lodge Hotel, Upper Richmond, to her wedding in Putney.
The Bride
Photo by Epic Moments Photography / Zak – Doris and Kit, who are from Hong Kong, chose the beautiful city of London for their pre-wedding shoot. We met early in the morning at St. Paul’s Cathedral to begin the session. Despite the freezing cold, we had a great time getting creative and having fun. We were fortunate to have the area to ourselves as the surrounding streets were closed for a marathon. We also managed to allocate time for an editorial session in a stunning Gothic church near the Bank. We then visited Leadenhall Market, Tower Bridge, and ended the day at Westminster.
This photo was taken at St Dunstan-in-the-East Church in London.
I’m a wife!
Photo by Sam & Louise – This photo was taken immediately after the wedding ceremony of Lawrence and Jade. Sam captured the moment Jade stepped out into the world as a Mrs for the first time. It’s always felt like a poignant moment, conveying a lot without showing much. It’s a great example of storytelling and how a single image can tell a meaningful story.
Bride in Curlers
Photo by Three Flowers Photography Charlotte Kitchenside – I took this photo of one of my brides last summer as she prepared for her wedding at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge. The room was well lit, and as she sat still while everyone buzzed around her, I used my prism to bounce the ceiling lights and capture this image. I love the negative space; you’d never guess the amount of activity happening around her at the time!

Bride & father
Photo by Matt Selby photography – Taken when the bride arrived at the venue in the wedding car, this photo captures a candid moment of her father’s reflection, which was not staged.
Wait a moment
Photo by Jennifer Jane Photography – This photo was taken in the corridor of the house where Ichha was getting ready. As she was about to meet Ollie for their first look, the light streamed through the windows and reflected off the white walls. It was so beautiful that I asked her to wait a moment while I quickly took a few photos. She looked absolutely radiant.
The Fairy Bride
Photo by Nina Pang – This photo was taken in Scotland at Jie and Hao’s wedding—a couple from Taiwan.
Martina’s grace
Photo by Luisa Raimondi – This photo was taken on the coldest and rainiest day of the last Italian summer! On September 2nd, despite the change in plans for the reception—Martina and Walter had originally planned a relaxed, open-air buffet in the meadows at Castello di Paderna, an amazing location in the Emilia region—Martina remained smiling and happy throughout the morning of her getting ready. I took this picture while she was putting on her shoes. I particularly love the light coming from an open window and the elegance of black and white photos. Martina’s grace completed the moment perfectly.
Two mirrors..
Photo by Simone Miglietta Photography – I took this picture while the bride’s was getting ready in England. It was my first wedding in England, and I was very excited. The bride and groom were amazing!
Kaleidoscope bride
Photo by John Hope – This is the beautiful Julia during bridal preparations, enjoying a bit of creative playtime with reflections!
A moment of calm
Photo by Sam Gibson – This is Aimee having a moment to herself as a bridesmaid fastens her dress. When the dress goes on and the bride is nearly ready, it’s often when people realise just how close the moment is. It’s fascinating to see how differently people react—some with intense excitement, others calm and quiet, simply trying to take it all in. I love this natural, unposed moment and the way the window spotlights Aimee.
ER Photography
Photo by ER Photography – This is Layla, one of our brides from 2016, who got married at Didsbury House Hotel in Manchester. During the ceremony, the reading became quite emotional, and she couldn’t help but wipe away a tear.
Claire’s hair
Photo by Kevin Belson Photography – This is Claire having her hair fixed at Nunsmere Hall. There was a flash behind her on the bedside table. I took a few test shots to get the exposure right and then waited for the hairstylist to spray her hair. I didn’t interfere; I simply waited for the moment to unfold. I think her hairstyle really makes the image.
Final details
Photo by Joshua Wyborn Photographic – Lartington Hall’s stunning rooms and décor are the backdrop as Becky’s dress is altered slightly.
The look of love
Photo by Paul Keppel Photography – I captured this photo at Knightor Winery in Cornwall. While rushing back to the bridal prep room, I came up the stairs and saw this beautiful moment between the bride and her daughter.
Disobedient veil
Photo by Philip Dignum Photography – The photo was taken at Saint James’ Church, Acton Trussell, just after Dan and Danielle’s wedding ceremony. They had a wonderful ceremony in the small church and were heading straight outside after walking down the aisle. A slight breeze caused Danielle’s veil to catch on the church railings, stopping her from moving further. Dan and Danielle are a very relaxed and fun couple, so Dan’s reaction was to laugh and point at his wife, who was giggling as she got stuck on the church railing.
After taking the photo, I rushed in to help untangle her and her veil, all while Dan continued to laugh at the situation. I’m really pleased I captured the moment; it’s a great anecdote for them both. It’s also a testament to what a great bride Danielle was—she found it hilarious and just laughed about being stuck there.
The Peacock’s Eye
Photo by Liam Carroll // ZT Photography – Bride having fun in the field…taken at Bassmead Manor Barns, Cambridgeshire.
Stunning Sarah’s first look
Photo by Matt Penberty Photography – Just after getting into her dream wedding dress, Sarah was about to walk out to be seen for the first time. I love these moments of genuine joy and excitement!
The bride with the view
Photo by Nabis Photographers/ Massimiliano Magliacca – I was at Villa Cimbrone, a magical location in the heart of Ravello, southern Italy. It was very hot, but there was a special atmosphere when I saw the bride near the view. The sky was so blue!
Contemplation
Photo by Robin Ball Photography – Nicola takes a quiet moment to herself before her wedding at the Mandarin Oriental in London.
Amber nextar
Photo by Nick Brightman Photography – The first thing to note about this wedding is that it was meant to be an outdoor ceremony, but with rain forecasted, the decision was made to move it indoors. As predicted, the heavens opened midway through, proving that the choice was the right one. After the ceremony, the sun came out, and the Bride and Groom were eager to enjoy the beautiful grounds at Birtsmorton Court, where they had just gotten married.
On a sunny afternoon, it’s natural to enjoy a cold, refreshing drink, isn’t it? They had both chosen their favourite drinks for the reception, and the Bride had opted for English Pale Ale. This shot was taken just after their confetti walk (you can still see some in her hair), and I love the juxtaposition between the elegance of her dress and flowers and the way she’s enjoying her beer!
