Hi, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?

 

Hello lovely readers! Rock My Vintage is an online boutique specialising in selling both original vintage and vintage inspired dresses and accessories. We understand that some brides don’t necessarily want the traditional wedding, and opt for vintage style dresses for a unique aesthetic that represents their personality perfectly. We therefore cater for the bride with a vintage vibe in mind.

What do you love and dislike about your job?

 

We love chatting with brides to find those perfect bridesmaid dresses. We understand how stressful trying and buying can be, especially with multiple bridesmaids! Rock My Vintage offers a one to one service with style advice (and most importantly, easy returns and exchanges!), so you can dress your bridal party with dresses, jewellery and finishing touches with minimum chaos.

We love it when customers send us photos from their weddings, it’s so amazing to see how effortlessly our dresses work with a vintage theme. From Gatsby themed weddings, to Rockabilly inspired 1950s affairs, to more laid back 70s style receptions, our vintage style dresses really tick all of the boxes.

One of the best parts of working with vintage clothing is finding totally unique or sometimes completely bonkers items! Scouring the country for one off pieces is definitely a high, and quite often we want to keep them for ourselves, so it can be hard to let them go – although it is lovely to know that our vintage dress will have new life breathed into it and live to tell another story!

Tell us about your typical working day.

 

Our days can be quite varied, but that’s what makes it so exciting. We’re about to begin buying for next season, so we spend a lot of time researching trends, as well as eagerly looking out for new brands to stock that have that all important element of vintage inspiration in their designs. We also have to keep our vintage collection fresh and exciting, so we’re always checking out auctions and generally rummaging for amazing one off pieces. Of course we also spend lots of time chatting to our fab customers via social media and the good old dog and bone!

 

If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?

 

We could definitely see ourselves as wedding planners! As vintage fans, we love to check out wedding blogs for inspiration and just love 1920s style weddings. We reckon we could cook up a pretty swish shindig, especially with some of the crazy props we stumble across at vintage auctions!

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

 

We want all of the bridesmaids we dress to be comfortable, look gorgeous and most importantly feel amazing when they’re following the bride down the aisle. We work really hard to offer a diverse collection of dresses in lengths, shapes and sizes to suit every woman and her personal requirements. At the end of the day, we know the bride is happy when she knows her besties are.

What style is your work? How would you describe your style in three words?

Vintage, effortless, fun.

 

Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

Our flapper dresses vary from £35 – £500, so we really can suit any budget.

Do you have any tips for selecting bridesmaid dresses?

 

Although it is ultimately the bride’s decision, it is so important to listen to your bridesmaids’ feedback and try to be flexible with styles. If you have multiple bridesmaids it can be difficult to find one dress to suit every shape, so don’t be afraid to play around with different styles until everyone is happy. Have a get together with all of your girls so you can see which different dresses and shades compliment each other. She will have to wear this dress for a whole day, and look back at photos in years to come, so it’s worth spending the time to get it right.

 

Are you seeing any trends for the year ahead?

 

Pastel tones have taken over the runways, and we think these shades are a perfect colour palette for a summer wedding. Think dusky blues, subtle nudes and soft shades – so kitsch and retro yet sophisticated and chic.
