Hi Fiona, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?

Hi! I’m Fiona and I am a professional photographer based in trendy Islington with a great love for nature, art and family, and for creating natural, luminous images.

What do you love and dislike about your job?

I love the whole shebang – happy couples madly in love, the emotions, the white dresses, interesting venues, finding unusual ways to bring the details alive, the families, the guests. A wedding brings people together, which is a pretty extraordinary thing.

I dislike it when I photograph a wedding and then lose touch with the couple – so this year I’ve created Fiona Family, my programme for couples to keep coming back for a free Linked In professional headshot each year. A good chance for a catch up!

How did you get into photography and into the wedding industry?

To start with I worked as a feature writer for the broadsheets. My camera became more and more important to me until I decided to put photography centre stage. Now I lead a double life combining travel writing and photography for Harper’s Bazaar and others with my own wedding photography business.

If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?

Probably a wedding planner – I’m always having extravagant party ideas, though I would never have the patience those guys have.

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

I believe that love is beautiful and nature is glamorous, and each wedding has its own unique magic. It’s up to me to depict that – to find the beauty and fun in each wedding – ideally in a gorgeous book that will bring the wedding alive for the couple for decades to come.

How would you describe your style in three words?

Beautiful, Creative, Luminous

Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

Prices start from £1450, but most couples spend a lot more than that and I can’t give you a price until I know more about what you are looking for. Are you having a large country wedding for 200 or a small weekday civil ceremony for 10? You’re going to share an emotion – filled day – maybe even an altar – with me, so do at the very least skype with me to give me a more specific idea of what you are having.

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their wedding photographer?

You are spending a lot of money on your wedding so you may as well invest in great wedding photography. Watch out for cheap, inexperienced photographers who may mess up your wedding or burn out. Look for someone who also does editorial or commercial work, where standards tend to be higher.

Are you seeing any trends for the year ahead?

I’m loving the flowing, slightly de-structured dresses that I’m seeing. Destination weddings seem to be very in – I’m looking forward to shooting one in a Cinderella castle in the Highlands in a few weeks time.

Can you give us a teaser about what you are working on now?

At the moment I’m working on a gorgeous wedding at the Connaught with a black and white theme. Very warm and intimate in feel, with 80 guests. I’ve created 1930s vintage style black and white shots for the couple, which work well with the Connaught’s luxurious art deco interiors.
