Happy Fun & Games Festival Tipi Wedding

Just wait until you see the pure unadulterated happiness in these images. One pretty hilarious image includes a confetti cone being thrown at the groom and then the fun and games commence, which included volley ball and a match of cricket. Oh to be a guest at this fun celebration.

WWW readers Amy and Dave tied the knot in August last year and settled upon a festival style tipi wedding held at Alcott Weddings in Worcestershire. Music and camping were priorities for the couple along with a relaxed vibe.

There were some great DIY touches, I especially love the customised mug favours and the literary references. Amy looked stunning, I love a bride that rocks her glasses. Her Pronovias off the shoulder dress looked beautiful with a long veil and chic up do. WOW.

THE PROPOSAL | Dave proposed on holiday whilst we were on top of Mount Vesuvius overlooking Pompeii. Years ago we were both in the same volcano lecture at university in Aberystwyth whilst doing our Geography degrees, and although it took us a few years after we graduated for us to meet properly, we have always joked about our Geography ‘geekiness’ bringing us together! My first gift from Dave was a mini volcano, so he thought it would be the perfect place to pop the question!

THE VISION | We wanted a fun festival themed wedding, where we could incorporate our love of music, camping and volleyball! We wanted people to feel relaxed, have fun and enjoy the vibe of the day!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started planning just over a year from the wedding date, we knew we wanted an outside venue where people could camp, and we found the beautiful Alcott Farm, which was so close to home and could accommodate our beautiful puppy Elsa!

We had been recommended Red on Blonde, our photographers and once we had made sure they were available on the date we were set to go! We could then book our amazing Tipi from Elite tents and Lucy Poole at Alcott Weddings then helped us to book Fine Food Matters our caterers and Dan Greenaway our amazing musician.

I was so lucky to have an amazing family friend, Hayley, agree to do my make up, and Katie, from Hair Hostess had the perfect vision for my festival hair!

We wanted to make a lot of the decorations ourselves and although it seemed mad 6 months before the wedding I’m so glad we started earlier, as it definitely reduced stress in the weeks before!

THE VENUE | Kingswood Meeting House for the ceremony and Alcott Farm Weddings for the reception.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress was ‘Merry’ by Pronovias, Shoes by Rachel Simpson, vintage pearl earrings were borrowed from my mum, headdress by the Sass B Collection.

FINDING THE DRESS | I was so lucky to find my dress at Silk Bridal in Lichfield, on our second trip. I had my heart set on a Jenny Packham dress, but when I tried on my beautiful lace dress, my mind was completely changed. I did have minor doubts about the dress but Denise, Becky and Karen at Silk were amazing, and after another visit to the shop, I knew I’d made the right decision

GROOM’S ATTIRE | Dave’s suit was one of the first things we brought, it was a navy tweed 3 piece suit from Ted Baker, finished with a Ted Baker tie, and amazing Ted Baker shoes.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We walked down the aisle to one of our favourite festival tunes, Yellow by Coldplay, arranged and played by our incredible friends Gareth Price and Steve Bates. As it was a church wedding we had 3 readings, a Corinthians verse, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (another volcano mention!), and a quote from One Tree Hill!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had four bridesmaids, my friends, Claire, Emma, Sarah and Zeldine (plus her beautiful bump!), they wore mint dresses from Coast.

THE FLOWERS | We wanted neutral toned flowers, the bridesmaids all had Gypsophila bouquets, and I had a lovely peach and white rose hand tied bouquet surrounded by eucalyptus.

THE CAKE | Our cake was incredible, it was all handmade by a family friend, Julia, who makes the cakes at cost price with a donation to charity.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Toby and Hannah from Red on Blonde were amazing, their pictures are beautiful, and they captured our wedding so perfectly! They were so great at fitting into the day, and even risked lying on the cricket pitch to get the most fabulous pictures!!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We decided on a beautiful Tipi from Elite tents, they did an amazing job of putting up fairy lights, and arranging tables and awesome rugs!

We wanted a rustic music/ literary festival theme and decided to create a lot of the décor ourselves, and we couldn’t have done it without a huge amount of help from friends and family! We had amazing bunting, festival named table centres, beautifully decorated vases, paper cranes, and paper flowers crafted out of Lord of the Rings. Our favourite items were the handwritten mugs which served as a favour and a place name and the photo booth designed by Dave’s dad!

THE HONEYMOON | An amazing adventure in New York and Florida.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Gareth and Steve’s amazing Coldplay arrangement, the accidental flower toss during the photos! The speeches!! Playing Volleyball in the warm sun, and my dad and his friend Keith doing an acoustic guitar set!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Throughout all of your planning stresses, always remember the important things about your day, and to relax about the rest, your suppliers are professionals and you can trust them to do an amazing job! Don’t forget to steal away your new spouse for a moment so the two of you can reflect on your amazing day!
