Hi Bands For Hire, could you firstly tell WWW readers a little bit about you?

 

Bands For Hire are an established live music agency based in Stamford, we work alongside some amazing musicians across the UK, from jazz and swing to contemporary pop bands. We’re extremely fussy about which singers and bands we work with and we hope it shows!

 

 

What do you love and dislike about your job?

 

We love it when things go to plan, we’ve worked hard to create a system that ensures great communication between us, the artists and the client which means that everything is all in place for the big day.

 

Dislikes, mmm, we don’t really like drinking coffee, eating cookies and listening to new bands in our slippers all day. Actually, no, we do quite like that as well.

 

 

How did you get into your business and into the wedding industry?

 

I started playing in a band 15 years ago, starting in local pubs and progressing to weddings and corporate events, the experience I gained from attending literally hundreds of events, along with the many contacts I’ve gained over the years put me in a great position to start an agency. Now in our sixth year things have gone from strength to strength and we have big plans for the future.

 

Tell us about your typical working day.

 

The morning generally consists of liaising with clients about upcoming events, replying to enquiries and sending out quotes. This continues throughout the day but we also spend a lot of time working on the website and searching for the freshest new talent.

 

 

If you could choose another role in the wedding industry what would it be?

 

I think a photographer would be right up my street. Failing that, a table-side magician might be fun!

 

 

What do you aim to achieve for your clients?

 

Our aim is to provide couples with talented bands and musicians that they otherwise wouldn’t have found on their own. We keep the whole process as simple as possible ensuring everything about the day is recorded on our system; from logistics to favourite songs and everything else in between.

 

 

What style is your work? How would you describe your style in three words?

 

Organised, organised, organised.

 

Could you tell us some information about your packages/prices?

 

We offer bands and artists to cater for every budget, from a solo singer/guitarist for the champagne reception right through to large party bands for the evening’s entertainment.

 

 

Do you have any tips for couples in selecting their band?

 

There are literally thousands of bands on the net and it can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. Make sure the band cover a mixture of your favourite songs as well as songs for all your family, finding the right balance is key and a mixture of old and new is often the best way to go.

 

 

Are you seeing any trends for the year ahead?

 

We find a certain famous band or film will trigger a trend, the Great Gatsby film created a whole theme of it’s own expanding on the already popular 1920’s wedding theme; Mumford and Sons style bands are king of the festival weddings and no doubt something new will come along very soon.

 

 

Can you give us a teaser about what you are working on now?

 

With five years booking weddings in London and South England, this year has seen us introduce our Midlands and Northern section booking wedding bands in Manchester and Leeds with plans to expand across Scotland in the near future.
