Hello, My name is Mark Newton and I’m a wedding photographer based in West Yorkshire not far from Leeds. I started my photography career shooting music and portrait images, but now focus on weddings. Using my experience to work in a relaxed and natural way to tell the story of the day.

I love being able to capture and create memories for couples. It’s knowing that the moments I capture will live on and be cherished for years to come and bring back the happiness from the day. There’s nothing I dislike about the job! It makes me sad sometimes when (very rarely) registrars / vicars are restrictive about what photos can be taken, and that because of that, part of the day could be missed from the story.

I used to work as a portrait and music photographer, as well as graphic designer and got asked by a client if I would shoot their wedding as they really liked my style of work. After that I was hooked, and I haven’t looked back. I see every wedding I’m invited to shoot a privilege, and because of that I put everything into making sure my couples have amazing photos that last a lifetime and transport them right back to the moment they were taken.

It’s a long and hard work day photographing a wedding day but so rewarding to be able to document all the hard work and effort that’s gone into the planning. There’s nothing better than capturing all of their closest friends and family celebrating together.

For me each wedding day starts the day before prepping all the gear, checking everything is charged and ready to go. On the actual wedding day I start with morning preparations. As often as possible I try and capture both the groom and bridal prep as I think it’s great for couples to be able to see what happened before the ceremony. Throughout the day I document all the natural moments, the laughing the tears and everything in-between. I want my couples to enjoy the day as much as possible so working with the plan of the day I make sure there’s some time set aside for great portraits, but make sure they first and foremost spend the day having fun. I cover the full day right into the evening, capturing all the crazy dancing and partying.

I think it would have to be a videographer, I’m not sure I’d be able to work at a wedding without a camera. Although if I was good at baking, cake maker would be close second, I have a massive sweet tooth so not sure if that would be a great idea!

Every wedding day is different and I want the pictures to bring back the memories of how they felt on the day. After all the cake has been eaten and the hangovers have worn off the only thing left is the photos, so I really want them to capture how the couples felt on the day and make the day lives on forever.

Natural, relaxed, fine-art.

I offer the one package that covers pretty much everything a couple needs. Photography from bridal prep through to the evening party and everything in-between. I include all the images in a password protected online gallery for sharing with friends and family, then high-resolution files on a USB with a licence to print. Also included is a pre-wedding shoot, I find it’s a great way of getting to know the couple and a good opportunity for them to get to know me, at the same time capturing some great photos of them before the wedding day.

I always say to my potential couples to have a good look at a few of my weddings and don’t be afraid to ask to see more pictures, its important you like the style of photography.

I have seen a big trend in couples shooting portraits in big epic locations. Its great if there is a spot close enough to create something unique and special and I love epic portraits…
I have just come back from a wedding at Hargate Hall near Buxton so I’m busy getting the teasers pulled together for Sarah and Jon. After that I’m working on the editing of a lovely wedding from Priory Cottages over near Wetherby. I’m also in the middle of shooting a big personal project, which I’m really looking forward to sharing over the next few months that is focused around portrait photography.
