The best thing about February has to be the promise of Spring and the gorgeous Spring bulbs and florals that await. If you’re planning Spring nuptials and are looking for DIY ideas, then look no further than this super sweet daffodil topiary centrepiece. So simple and also long lasting, perfect as wedding gifts or even as a part of your Easter dinner table if you haven’t got a wedding to plan this Spring.
‘Early Hours’ – cockney rhyming slang for flowers – the London based studio for innovative and magical floral designs. Her show-stopping creations have made Lizzie Powell (owner of Early Hours London Ltd) the go-to florist for some of London’s most stylish destinations and couples. We’re thrilled to have her share a special Spring wedding flower tutorial with us today.
50 x daffodils
Cellotape
Selection of coloured ribbon
Pins
Jam jar/small vase
Fine gravel/ sand
Start by making the topiary shape by placing the daffodil stems together and parallel next to each other. Start in the centre and work around in a circle to create a nice dome shape, while holding the stem just below the flower heads.

Once the dome is complete use cellotape to bind the stems together at the base of the flower heads. This helps keep the lovely dome shape.

Cover the cellotape with decorative ribbons. Start at the top underneath the flower heads and work downwards to the middle of the stem. Use pins to secure.
Cut the stems down so that they are all level then stand the topiary in centre of the jam jar.
While holding the topiary pour the gravel or sand into the jar, which will hold and secure the flowers in place.
Top up with water to keep the flowers fresh and lovely.
