Is a wedding set in gorgeous woodland surroundings ever anything but delightful?
Rachael and Mike enjoyed their special day in June 2017 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Centre in Brookfield; celebrating in the fabulous inside space and enjoying the dappled forest light for some beautiful photographs.
Photographer McNiel Photography elaborates on the personalised details that made Rachael and Mike’s day so special for them and their guests, and has captured their day oh-so-superbly. How fitting that in such a lovely outdoor setting, part of their ceremony incorporated the planting of a tree – a beautifully emotive symbol of the permanence of their love and that moment.
Some favourites for me are the colours in that fantastic bouquet, Rachael’s beautiful gown, and the shots of the groomsmen looking so relaxed, happy, and dapper in their bow ties.
Enjoy these sumptuous images – no wonder Rachael and Mike struggled to choose their favourites with so many exquisite shots!

FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER | Rachael incorporated so many beautiful and meaningful details into her wedding day. Her shoes were an amazing burgundy suede with a chunky wooden heel, and she wore the most gorgeous dress in a champagne-mocha color. We loved the heirloom hair piece she wore all day as well as the many sweet heirloom details she carried with her. Mike had some amazing details as well. The cufflinks he wore were his grandfather’s. It is an amazing honor to carry heirloom pieces, clothing, or personal belongings from parents, grandparents, (or great-grandparents) on your wedding day. It’s such a beautiful testimony to marriage, family, and the future!
Family was a huge theme from Mike & Rachael’s Sharon Lynne Wilson Center wedding. Both of their families are filled with such caring, sweet people. You can see at once how Rachael & Mike have become the kind and genuine people they are. The wedding ceremony was filled with personal moments, from their hand-written vows to the tree planting ceremony. Watching their parents smile, laugh, and cry with joy was another beautiful thing we enjoyed from their day.
After the ceremony, we snapped some windy family photos in the new outdoor patio area at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center (it’s gorgeous!); and then we trekked to the paths of Mitchell Park to grab a few extra pictures of Mike & Rachael. I’m so glad we did. It was well worth the windy trek. Believe us when we say it was really hard to narrow down our favorites! The earthy vibe of the woods was a perfect match for their wedding day. The guests enjoyed a beautiful dinner as we listened to the toasts and wishes from their parents and best friends. Following dinner, guests enjoyed a breath-taking sunset, outside games, and an epic dance party! Rachael & Mike, surrounded by family and friends, danced the night away in the outside air. The wind, the smell of the grass, the way the outdoors adds life and energy, adds a vibrancy to all of this that we will not soon forget.
