Today’s real wedding is just chock full of colourful personality, with some simply glorious florals. Frances and Paul tied the knot in a flower adorned registry office ceremony and continued the celebrations at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green, London on the 29th April 2017. I just love the contrast between the wood panelled setting in both venues, the all white tables and chairs of the reception and those pops of floral colour!
Frances’ dress was something of a one off as it had been altered for a press launch and she nabbed it at a sample sale. What a simple yet gorgeous gown. Our dapper groom Paul stuck to his staple colour of black and looks ever so smart in his Neil Barrett suit and Fendi tie.
Our pair kept the ceremony simple, like many couples they were rather nervous. This part of the day turned out to be one of their favourite memories of the day though, something to bear in mind if you’re feeling a bit apprehensive about standing up in front of all your family and friends.
Miss Gen Photography captured the day simply beautifully, thank you so much for sharing these images with us today Gen.

OUR STORY | We met 4 years ago online. Our first date was in Soho. We got engaged on New Years Eve 2015 in London and it was a complete surprise.
THE VISION | Making sure we had good food, wine and everyone had fun.
The vibe I wanted to create was just relaxed and fun. The colour choice of the flowers reflected that as I wanted them to be bright pops of colour. Paul is an artist so our wedding favours were a key ring with silhouettes of both our heads, which are a play on one of his pieces so we’re bait of a joke. Our seating plan and table numbers were also bright colours and were meant to be in keeping with the colour theme but also the art theme as they were a Pantone colour chart.
THE VENUE | Carol the wedding planner at Town Hall Hotel was also really great as were all the staff at Town Hall Hotel. The day was managed seamlessly and all our guests commented on how smooth and effortlessly everything went, which was totally down to the team there.
THE OUTFITS & ACCESSORIES | I loved my dress as it felt quite modern but was also really beautiful. I got it in a sample sale from Charlie Brear so the lace overlay was a one off piece created for a press day. I only went there and it was the second dress I tried on and I just loved it. My necklace was a surprise gift from my dad at the rehearsal dinner the day before. It was a necklace I had seen the year before with my friend Troy and thought would be perfect but was too expensive. They had been chatting about this in secret so I was totally blown away by it and it made the most perfect accessory to the dress.
Paul’s suit was by Neil Barrett and his tie was by Fendi. His style is very modern and black is his favourite colour clotheswise.
THE FLOWERS | Our florist was Daisy Ellen. We’d done quite a bit of research to find young florists who do quite unusual arrangements and found Daisy. We loved how versatile her style was and when we talked through what we wanted she just got it straight away. We wanted a bright India inspired colour scheme for them and what she created was amazing.
OUR CEREMONY | Our ceremony was very simple and we wanted it that way as we were both pretty nervous. Neither of us are religious so we wanted the ceremony to be more about us and our family ad friends, which it was. Two of our friends did readings. The first was an extract from the Velveteen Rabbit by my friend Hannah and the second was an EE Cummings poem, “Love is more thicker than forget” by my friend Troy. We let them choose whatever they wanted to read and both were so perfect and way better than what we would have chosen. We also had an amazing singer and Guitarist called LJ who sang throughout the ceremony. The song I walked down the aisle to was “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. We chose it as we love that song as his was the first concert we went to together in New York.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We really liked how Miss Gen’s photography didn’t feel really posed and captured the different moments of the day in an unobtrusive way. Also loved the grading to the pictures on her site and the more photojournalistic approach.
Miss Gen was so great to work with. Completely unobtrusive on the day but got some great unexpected shots. Was totally happy to go with the flow and do whatever worked for us. We are not the easiest to photograph as we’re not used to it but she made us feel totally at ease.
We love the group shot outside the venue and the confetti shots. I also love the dancing shots from later on. They are very funny. The ones of the flowers also capture them really beautifully.
THE ENTERTAINMENT | Our band were the Gypsies of Bohemia and they were amazing! Totally made the evening. Our guests were great and love dancing, as do I , and they just did the best party set. They do their own twist on different pop and indie songs so it was all just really fun.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | I think the ceremony was the most memorable moment. It was so perfect and we were both just so happy and it felt so wonderful having all the people we love in one room to celebrate with us. It really is a once in a lifetime thing. I also loved the party in the evening. We danced so much and had loads of fun.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | The advice I would give is make sure you get a couple of moments away together to appreciate the day. It goes so fast so it’s good to have the moments to pause and try and digest it all.
