Colourful Bohemian & Floral Wedding Ideas

Oh I do love a garden wedding, and does it get any better than holding a wedding in a dedicated flower garden? I think not lovely readers, I mean just imagine the scents, the buzzing bees and the sight of such floral beauty. This wedding ideas shoot was held at Flowers From The Garden and of course all of the abundant, blousy florals were from the garden too. Swathes of red, pink and burgundy flowers were interspersed with greenery and foliage for a wild natural feel. I especially adore the bouquet, flower crown and flower arch backdrop. It really set the tone for this colourful bohemian feel set of inspiring wedding images.

Anna Beth Photography was not only the creator behind the shoot, but also the photographer. I have to say that the images are bursting with life and vibrancy, just like the tablescapes. Think pretty stationery suites alongside copper and gold tableware and a spectacular dessert and drinks table with a centrepiece buttercream cake. Also keep your eyes peeled for the beautiful bride and groom who were dressed in stylish outfits and were groomed to perfection too. Oh my!

Colourful, boho weddings are just beautiful and you don’t need to have a huge budget for your wedding to look absolutely charming! I put together this styled shoot to show that the rustic, DIY approach is just as beautiful, plus personal touches are what will make your wedding unique to you!

Flowers From the Garden is a wonderful working flower garden in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield and was the perfect location for our outdoor/ indoor inspired wedding. Alison, who owns and runs this wonderful garden, decorated one of the arches in her garden for the ‘ceremony’ using flowers picked that very morning! Flowers picked straight from the garden were also used to decorate the cake, to fill the jars and colourful tins for the tables, for the bride’s bouquet, the bride’s flower crown and the flowers for the bride’s ‘evening look’.

I decided to show two looks for our stunning bride Lily. The first was a more modest day time look, a beautiful lace Pronovias dress complete with the hand made flower crown. Smokey eyes added a modern edge to this pretty day time look. As you’ll see from the photos, Lily then rocks an ‘evening look’ for later on. Another stunning, Pronovias gown, this one a little more fitted, and flowers pinned into a low, elegant bun replaces the flower crown. There is no reason why you can’t mix it up on the day!

The wild flower bouquet was an abundance of colour brought together in an unstructured bouquet and tied with locally sourced hand plant died silk ribbon. I think you’ll agree that it doesn’t get much more beautiful than this!

Phil was our groom for the day and he wore a fabulous green tweed suit from Tweed and Groom along with cream chinos for a relaxed look. This suited the English summer garden vibe perfectly!

Now there’s one last mention for Nico the friendly golden retriever! Dogs at weddings are a wonderful thing and another bonus to having an outdoor ceremony. More and more couples are deciding to bring their dogs along and why not! They are part of the family after all.

My idea for this wedding is that a relaxed afternoon tea could be had after the ceremony, wooden pallets were used to create an outdoor seating area and we covered these with tables cloths then decorated with candles, flowers and beautiful vintage china from Add Vintage. Around the make shift tables were colourful rugs, cushions and throws to create informal seating for guests to enjoy afternoon tea and added to the relaxed boho feel to the day.

The picnic table was donned with home baked goodies from White Rose Cake Design, these were presented on rustic wooden log slices and an array of gorgeous cake stands from Add Vintage. Mismatched tea pots and tea cups and colourful, rustic tea tins and mason jars were dotted around the table. Lovely bunches of wild flowers brought even more colour and life to the table. The wedding wedding cake was a four tiered, rustic white cake wrapped with a long stalk of Ivy and again, wild flowers from the garden.

For the evening meal, we decided to use the lovely workshop and brought many of the elements from the tables outside to decorate the indoors. The mismatched table wear looked stunning and the copper pipe candle sticks added some more rustic charm and atmosphere to the table. The amazing stationery by Loupaper set the tone perfectly and also the colours for the day. Although there was no set colour scheme to this bohemian inspired wedding, the dark reds from the invitations were featured throughout the shoot.
