Timeless Royal Inspired Seaside Wedding

The best thing about fairy tales is that they happen all the time – all over the world – one wedding at a time.

The celebrations we’re sharing with you today have got us firmly daydreaming of seaside escapes and dusty pink petals, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Emma and Jazz chose to host their loved ones at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, a former royal residence dating back to the mid-1800s. Its history is just one of the many reasons the bride and groom fell head over heels for it; add to that the breathtaking views of the Solent, the enclosed rose garden, and graceful water features, and it’s easy to see why this London couple chose it as their island getaway frozen in time.

With a venue so full of character, the décor need only be subtle, with natural and rustic florals by The Flower Garden setting the scene for a palette of peaceful off-whites, muted greens, and blushing pinks – the latter echoed by the bride’s swishing gown by Stella York and the former by the bridesmaids’ neutral Vera Wang’s. We adore the intimate outdoor ceremony set against the imposing walls, so sweetly embodied by the sprig of royal-inspired myrtle peeking from the soft curls of the bride’s hair. Day turned to night in the company of a semi naked cake of pink macarons and fresh roses by Frostbite Bakery, a fun-filled photobooth, and tipsy vodka favours – all the ingredients for the party of a lifetime.

The Proposal

Jazz proposed on Christmas Day 2016 at Emma’s families holiday home in Ventnor by attaching a bow to Emma’s dog (a labradoodle called Maggie) and getting Maggie to bring the engagement ring over.  We then celebrated with the family and it was a really magical day!

The Flowers

We wanted natural looking and rustic flowers for the wedding. The Flower Garden did a fantastic job in this and we were really happy with them!

The Vision

We both live in London but decided early on that we wanted a ‘staycation’ wedding destination and the Isle of Wight was the perfect place for us. Hoping for a sunny day, we envisioned a beautiful day in a country garden type setting.

The Planning Process

We initially decided to look at venues and decide a date around this. We looked at Osborne House and fell in love with it as a wedding venue so when we found out they had availability in the summer of 2018 we decided to book it there and then! Everything then was planned around this. Getting married on a small island meant that a lot of the vendors we initially contacted were booked really far in advance so we booked a photographer and the make up and hair artists as soon as we could. We were quite relaxed about the entire process and left some things to the last minute!

Bridesmaids

My bridesmaids were in Vera Wang dresses.  The gorgeous flower girls wore pretty dresses from Monsoon.

The Venue

We chose Osborne House as it is a stunning venue with amazing views of the Solent, lovely grounds including a beach, an enclosed rose garden and water fountain features. Osborne House was Queen Victoria’s holiday home and we really loved the history behind the house.

The Readings & Music

My friend did a reading during the ceremony which she wrote herself and it was very personal and lovely. I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Stand By Me which was performed live by musicians.  The first dance was Vance Joy ‘I’m with you’.

Your Outfits & Accessories

I wore a wedding dress by the designer Stella York. It was one of the first dresses I tried on and absolutely loved it but decided to visit some other shops as I wanted to prolong the wedding dress shopping period! In the end I had a dream about my dress and knew it was definitely the one. It is a really unique dress in a blush pink and perfect for me. My shoes were sparkly strappy ones from Kurt Geiger.  In my hair I had myrtle from the plant at Osborne House. It is a tradition for every Royal wedding to have some myrtle in their bouquet, with the most recent being Megan Markle!

Beauty

For mine and my bridesmaids I booked the hugely talented Style Sisters who live on the Isle of Wight. I wanted natural looking make up and soft curls which they achieved amazingly well and that lasted all day.  We were all very impressed and would highly recommend them!

The Cake

The cake was beautiful. It was created by Frostbite Bakery on the Isle of Wight.  I sent her an image of what we wanted and she recreated it perfectly and it tasted delicious!

The Details & Décor

We relied on the natural beauty of the venue as well as the flowers to create most of the décor.  The table plan, order of the day and names for the tables were all DIY and our favours were shots which were supplied by the island based Tipsy Vodka!  In the evening we had a photobooth which went down really well with the guests.

Groom & Groomsmen

The groom and groomsmen outfits were all from Yardsmen in London.

Your Photographer

Holly Cade was our photographer and we were really pleased that we chose her for our big day. We had an engagement shoot which let us have a bit of a practice, and on the day she fitted in really well with the day.  She suggested different areas to have photos, managed to take photos of all the groups and we were very happy with all our photos! We would recommend Holly to anyone looking for a photographer in the area!

The Honeymoon

We are planning an epic trip to celebrate in 2019!

Memorable Moments

Getting ready in the morning with my Bridesmaids and making our way to the venue was so surreal!  I will never forget the feeling of walking down the aisle and seeing Jazz. It was a really special moment.

Advice For Other Couples

Don’t stress about the planning – we left lots of things to the last minute but genuinely had the best time and loved every minute!
