That time in between Christmas and Spring is a bit of a funny one isn’t it? It gets a little forgotten, and you know what, it makes for the perfect time to get hitched. Things are usually quiet and it’s often off-peak in the wedding industry, which is exactly why Starry Eyed Weddings put together this shoot. They wanted to inspire couples to create a transitional wedding, and oh my is it all so very cool.
The setting was the Hare and Hounds Leyton, London, which was the perfect backdrop for these cosy yet modern wedding ideas. There was an epic balloon installation at the entrance to the pub and inside it all looked just magical. Think rag bunting, greenery for days, cocktails, pretty stationery and a decadent gold and pink cake creation.
The bride and groom looked very on trend in their stylish attire, with the bride rocking flawless make up and a gorgeous up do. I really love the oversized bouquet here too, the trailing greenery really makes a brilliant statement. On hand to capture it all was the wonderful Three Flowers Photography, stunning!

We set the date for 30th March 2019 as we wanted show couples who may be looking for less expensive (off peak) wedding date how to style a transitional wedding.
We kept a touch of winter by using the tremendous Hare & Hounds in Leyton which has a rather magical back room, complete with a hand made tree bursting through the back wall and has a touch of old opulence with plush sage velvet chairs and a giant distressed wooden bench table.
We deliberately used a soft and muted colour palette of heather, faded pinks and lots of foliage – but punctuated it with a burst of sunshine yellow with the wild daisies and craspedia (yellow pom poms). The bouquet was created by our in house florist Sacha Towler. We decided to go BIG and an oversized trailing bouquet was one of the key features of the shoot. Sacha ran the flowers and foliage along the table to create a wild meadow effect. We used moss and bundles of extra greenery for this!
Stationery by Amber By Design was kept fresh and contemporary with graphic flowers and the icons of the Hare and Hounds integrated subtly.

We suspended glass test tubes on silk ribbons from the ‘tree’ and filled them with wild flowers.
Oversized white tins held mauve winter pansies and we layered on lots of candlelight.

We wanted to move away from the huge trend that has been the naked/semi naked cakes and experiment with something a little more luxurious and grand. Victoria really did create something quite decadent with her own modern spin on it. It tasted incredible too!

The nostalgic handmade white fringed garland was used to give a traditional wedding feel from days gone by, as the pub itself dates back to 1861.

Penny Brown from Balloonists London, created the fun arch outside the Pub entrance. We also used metallic dipped giant balloons inside!

For some novelty elements we introduced the wedding newspaper from Photopress and played around with the exquisite silk printed masks from Animalesque.

We used 2 dresses from the new collection at Suzanne Harrington Bride – the Ella wedding dress with dusky pink velvet sash and then the embroidered Meadow dress. Both worked beautifully in the setting.

Make up was kept soft and warm by Alana from Kalon Artists. We wanted a sweet and quirky up do for Boryana our bride. Lou From Biba Browns created delicate twists and plaits and gently embellished the style with some of our wild flowers and a fragile head dress from Dolecka Bridal.

Our photographer Charlotte Kitchenside from Three Flowers captured the warm lighting inside the venue and the spirit of the day – warm, modern with the authentic backdrop of this East End gem!

The Hare & Hounds created fresh spring themed salad bowls and some incredible seasonal cocktails from their extensive menu. Our favourite was the ‘Sweet Violet’ with stolichnaya, honey syrup, passion fruit and lavender with fizz!
The pub itself has incredible outside space as well as the beautiful main room.
