The Summer Of Love – Weddings Are Back!

A humanist wedding is ideal if you’d like a non-religious wedding in the setting of your choice. (No licence required!)

Grand garden weddings, wonderful woodland weddings, and scenic ceremonies by the sea are all possible once again. And your celebrant can help you to plan a perfect day that will live on in your memories and those of your guests.

humanist wedding is ideal if you’d like a non-religious wedding in the setting of your choice. (No licence required!) After spending time getting to know you, your celebrant will write your personal love story to share with your guests. From how you met to what attracted you to one another, the good times, the not so good times, and the proposal – what you choose to share is up to you. Your celebrant can help you select poems and readings that mean something to you, and they can support you if you’d like to write your own vows. With a humanist ceremony, you can personalise every aspect of your special day.

Including Guests in Wedding Rituals

If you’d like to include a handfasting or knot-tying ritual, why not invite guests to send ribbons in advance of the wedding to be plaited or woven together to form your tie? (For safety, we recommend you set aside the ribbon for at least 48 hours prior to the wedding.)

Another way to include a select number of guests in the celebration on the day is with a sand-blending ritual. Each guest can add their coloured sand to your chosen keepsake container in turn. This ritual symbolises the coming together of families and can be conducted in a safe, socially distanced way.

Numbers Up

As restrictions are lifted, the number of guests allowed at weddings is going up. From 17 May, 30 people can attend a wedding or reception in England, and in June, it’s pencilled in that restrictions could be lifted altogether.
