Emma and Jon are with us to share their joyful, relaxed and fun countryside garden party wedding held in a field in Suffolk at their home. Hooray! It was all just delightful; a sunny summer’s day with marquee and bell tents, outdoor dancing and DIY elements.
There were fresh pink flowers, a vast array of cakes and some utterly gorgeous outfits 😍.
Enjoy these wonderful images from Lisa and Neil which capture all the love and fun below.

Santorini – I (Jon) missed a few opportunities to pop the question before coming clean about my (lack of) plan! Eventually, Emma project managed us through (start as you mean to go on), finding the perfect spot just before our taxi to the port arrived!
A day with all our friends and family, eating, drinking and dancing, with a garden party feel.
Chediston, Suffolk – in a field behind Emma’s mum’s house. It was only a two-minute walk from the church, and really nice to have our wedding at home.

Emma – I wore a two-piece dress from E&W Couture, with a long-sleeved lace top and a full floaty skirt. It was the first dress I tried, and immediately knew it was special. I tried on many more that day, but we all kept coming back to the wow factor of the two-piece: the back of the top was so beautiful, and the slight crop gave it a modern feel which balanced the lace sleeves.
Jon – I wore a Hackett navy suit with a floral tie and sage green pocket square. I tried it on and liked it and bought the same for the best man and father-of-the-bride.
The bridal party entered to a version of Grow Old With Me by John Lennon, which had been arranged by a super talented friend Kat, and performed by some of Emma’s friends from her choir ‘The Songbirds’ which was so special.
We had a church service including hymns accompanied by our friend Michael on the organ. The choir also performed during our signing of the register which was really special. We had to have more than half our guests watching the whole thing on screens outside which was a bit odd, but so great to hear them shout “We will!” during the vows!

Him & Her Photography – Neil and Lisa were fab from the get-go, literally talking us through how to structure the day back when we were setting out on planning. From crowd corralling to our beautiful golden hour shoot, they were a dream to work with, and really helped make our day run smooth with no fussiness or stilted gaps. Such a dream duo!

We wanted a garden party theme – suitable for getting married at home! Flowers had a meadow feel, and we were super lucky to have a friend, Laura, who was a florist, who was able to absolutely realise exactly what we’d pictured there.
Jon’s sisters made miles of bunting, which was hung everywhere, and there were a variety of marquees, along with a good number of guests staying in bell tents on site, so we had a bit of a tent village going on!
True to the ‘tea party’ theme there was an abundance of cake (I think we had 11 proper cakes in total, as well as cupcakes, scones etc. Jon doesn’t actually like cake though, so we also had a ‘cheese cake’, a 5-tiered stack of cheese, to suit the more savoury palate.
We hired vintage glasses and china as well as deck chairs and odds and ends to bring our theme together.
DIY: Jon’s sisters provided design for the day, with Ali providing beautiful signage for everything from the day itself to the loos; Jen did the designs for the invitations, order of service and thank you cards – again meeting the meadow-flower feel.

British Airways actually cancelled our honeymoon to Corfu at very short notice a few days before the wedding, but we ended up going up to Edinburgh for the week and having an absolutely amazing time. We focused on good hotels, great restaurants, cocktails, wine and exploring the city. We also had probably the best week of weather Edinburgh has ever seen.
Just everything.
Don’t plan a wedding during a pandemic – it’s stressful.
Other than that, remember that the people coming love you and just want to celebrate you – over order on the cake and fizz, and enjoy yourselves!

Ahh so lovely.
Emma and Jon a big thank you for sharing your Suffolk field wedding, it’s been a pleasure. Thanks also to Him and Her Wedding Photography for sharing these fantastic shots.
