WWW followers Sarah and Ruari are joining us with their stunning Aberdeenshire country house wedding held at Ballogie Estate in the autumn. And what a feast for the eyes it all is.
Think warm, autumnal tones, leafy woodland portraits, sensational outfits and gorgeous blooms. I mean take a look at Sarah’s chic mini dress and tartan blanket combo not to mention Ruari’s dapper tartan kilt. Wow 😍.
Besides the styling of the day, I love their determination to get married on their date regardless of the restrictions. It really goes to show how special a micro wedding ceremony can be. So much love.
Big thanks to John Elphinstone Stirling for sending over these epic captures of such a romantic day.

3rd July 2019
We were out on a private coastal paddleboarding lesson and tour in our hometown of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
We were on our way back to shore when we stopped for a photo on our paddleboards with the cliffs and war memorial in the background. Ruari suggested that we get a picture with us both on the same board, I quickly hopped over ready to pose for the photo.
Ruari then got down on one knee (whilst we were both balancing on the paddle board) and asked me to marry him, thankfully he proposed with a Haribo ring and my engagement ring was safely tucked away back on dry land.
Being a COVID bride and groom we were determined to get married on our date regardless of restrictions (we have also postponed our original plans till 30th October 2021 for wedding part 2 without any restrictions).
It was our ‘marriage day’ so it was all about the ceremony and bringing our closest family and friends (luckily numbers allowed 20) to be there with us. We weren’t after anything too over the top and wanted to keep it low key. This is when I decided to not wear THE dress but to find another.
We didn’t want to spend anything additional.
Ruari’s kilt was made by Georgian Dress Hire, Aberdeen. We picked weathered Loch Carron ‘House Tartan’, with tweed coat and waistcoat to match and choosing a new cooper sporran and accessories to match.

Due to limited numbers we decided to Instagram live the wedding ceremony, we have since found out that not just guests who were unable to be there watched but old school friends, family friends, work colleagues, friends of friends, some of our closest friends even ended up watching with there parents and brothers and sisters.
With people watching from Italy and Denmark to Oman and Canada.
Relax and enjoy every moment, even when it gets a bit chaotic embrace it its all part of the day.
Does it get any more dreamy?
Sarah and Ruari I can’t thank you enough for sharing your Aberdeenshire country house wedding story with us.
