Oh, what a delight it is to be sharing Cam and Amy’s autumn forest wedding in Scotland. They described their day as “laid back, relaxed, cosy, intimate, couthie” and doesn’t it just sound perfect?

I am head over heels for their warm day, filled with twinkling lights, flickering candlelight and delicious toffee tones. There were fabulous flowers,  stylish outfits (hello there beaded gown!), pretty stationery and a gorgeous vegan cake creation.

I can’t thank Emma Lawson enough for sharing these sublime images of their really special micro wedding celebration. Enjoy it all.

The Proposal

The proposal didn’t work out exactly the way as planned. Original plan was to pop the question while on a walk at Reekie Linn however the cabins that was booked had sprung a leak in our room and they were fully booked otherwise.

We ended up in an alternative just outside Crieff, while out on the decking I walked Amy round the sides to have a wee look and hurried ahead so when she came round the corner, I was on one knee.

The Vision

We had originally planned to be married at another venue so had that in mind for a long while but made the tough decision to downsize due to the pandemic and with that moved to Glen Dye. All we ever really wanted was a nice, cosy day for us and our guests and Glen Dye fit perfectly for what we had ultimately envisioned.

We’d always loved autumn so knew we would be getting married then, with Glen Dye being surrounded by forests we knew it would look spectacular this time of year. We tend to go away on a weekend break the first weekend in November so we wanted it to feel like one of those that we just so happen to get married on.

Coorie helped us massively with our vision, planning, and organising. Amanda kept things on track, not only in the lead up to the wedding but throughout the whole day.

Budget

We didn’t set a budget but would recommend having all the spreadsheets for tracking the costs.

The Venue

Glen Dye, we had our ceremony in the smiddy our drinks reception in the micropub, the glen dye arms and our meal and cake cutting in the Byre. The smiddy was turned around for our evening drinks.

Your Outfits

Cam – I wore a kilt that I had made for me a while ago, it’s a MacDonald weathered dress tartan from my dad’s side of the family. I wore a grey tweed jacket and waistcoat that I had bought for the wedding.

Amy – I purchased my dress from Ivory Grace. I knew I wanted a Willowby by Watters dress, and Emma at Ivory Grace showed me Mercury and I knew it was the one even before trying it on. It was easy to wear and felt the beading made it unique. It was perfect for the relaxed wedding day we had.

The Ceremony & Music

We had a humanist ceremony, we’d met with our celebrant, Gary a few times over zoom/skype before the big day and he knocked it out the park. He kept it very personal to us. We both aren’t big public speakers so we let Gary do most of the talking.

Music-wise we were using Spotify playlists which were orchestral covers of songs that meant something to us for the ceremony.

For the reception in the micropub we went for a dad-rock vibe and in the evening, we had asked our guests to pick a song to add to a playlist that we had curated that shuffled in the background while everyone enjoyed themselves.

Your Photographer & Filmmaker

Our photographer was Emma Lawson, we were drawn to her candid, natural style and that she was able to capture all the wee moments we hadn’t noticed happen around us. She was able to capture everything so effortlessly and she really made us feel at ease.

The videographers we had were Simon and Greg from Cinemate, we’d loved the videos that they had shot for other couples as they have their own very distinctive style. They effortlessly kept a broad sight of everything going on on the day so we had plenty of footage to look back at and enjoy.

The tag team of Emma, Simon and Greg were fun to have around and made 2 camera-shy people very comfortable.

The Styling & Decor

Flowers, styling and décor were all down to Kim Daglish. Because of the time of year it was we had spoken to Kim around about neutral, toffee tones that fit in with the venue. This mixed with candles/lanterns and the rustic tables made everything look soo good. Still somewhat speechless as to how beautiful and close to what we had wanted they had made it for us. It was all better than we had ever imagined.

ShowEquip set the mood with the fairy lighting throughout the venues.

Stacy at LovePaperCo made our stationery and lovely chipboard wedding sign which fit in so well.

We needed a vegan cake so we went with Cake by Shannon for our wedding cake, it was a butterscotch roughcast iced 2 tier with gold leaf and biscuitbunnybakes provided our wedding favours.

For our wedding breakfast, we had used country flavours of Alford, Megan was really great at making sure everyone was topped up and accommodated to. They helped us source our crockery as well which fit in perfectly with Kim’s styling.

The Honeymoon

We took a short break to the hideaway experience; we are looking forward to going to Copenhagen and Iceland when things are a bit safer.

Advice For Other Couples

Don’t stress over all the little things, it’ll all work out. Even at a micro wedding make sure to take time for just the two of you. Enjoy yourself and soak in all the moments you can cause it feels like it goes by quickly.

Make sure you have someone there to keep it all on track.

Most importantly have fun and do what suits you as a couple and that makes you happy.
