Welcome to the joyful and glowing Beaconside House wedding of Alexa and Shaun in the Devon countryside. Their day was super whimsical with relaxed, fun and happy vibes.
Their wedding was beautifully summery, with golden sunshine and stunning portraits on the beach. Then there were their stunning outfits and glorious styling. From the modern meets rustic decor to the fantastic song choices and alternative wedding cake (hello pinata smash!) you’re going to adore their nuptials.
Amy Chapple Photography thank you so much for sharing with us these sublime images of a very special celebration indeed.
At Fiscavaig Bay in the Isle of Skye. We were on a hiking holiday with our beloved pooch and we went to watch the sunset down on the rocks where not a soul was in sight. The weather was beautiful and I was in my pyjamas with a plastic bottle filled with Gin & Tonic, and not dressed for the occasion AT ALL.
Shaun definitely surprised me by getting down on one knee.
I wanted something that had a mix of all the different styles I liked – it’s so hard to envision your wedding when all venues seem suited to better styles.
I liked the traditional white look but didn’t want the formal big stately home, I loved a tipi festival wedding but that didn’t suit Shaun’s style so well. So we found the perfect venue where we had the beautiful country views and the outside feeling I wanted (FYI -am happiest outside exploring) but also had the modern barn.
And I could still bring all the elements I liked of DIY, rustic with more minimal/modern styling. I wanted FUN, FAIRLY INFORMAL, RELAXED AND A BIG PARTY!
£20,000 – not including dresses and suits. We were just about on target and that included a free bar.
Beaconside House – Bideford Devon.
A beautiful country house in the Devon countryside with amazing views, woodland cabins, a pool, hot tubs and modern barn for the reception. And indoor glass conservatory if outside gazebo option doesn’t work, all for 3 days hire for us and all our guests.
The boys wore beige ‘Venice’ suits which we hired from Abigail’s Collection @ The Grooms Room in Colchester. I chose for Shaun because I wanted that summery more causal feel rather than a formal tux!
I wore a dress called ‘Gemini’ by Dando London from Confetti & Lace. It was probably the 30th dress I tried on, but it gave me everything I wanted. Elegant, no lace, a bit of glamour, figure-hugging and sophisticated but also my style.
My sister was a Gemini (she passed away a year before my dress shopping) and it seemed like a sign to me that it was the right one. I’m so pleased I chose it I love it.
The ceremony was outside with Devon countryside views, white chairs with gypsophila on the ends and under a decorated wooden gazebo.
Anything from pre-2000 is just a win for us (I’m an old soul at heart)! (Except Dre 2001 – Chronic can’t beat that).

Rustic with modern elements.
The Dominican Republic. Secrets at Cap Cana Adult Only Resort – 10 days of pure bliss! Amazing food, Lots of cocktails and a drunken karaoke singing our wedding song…
Don’t sweat the small stuff. No matter how many people told me my neurotic self didn’t listen, but none of it matters on the day. Just both turning up is the most important thing!
Plan as far in advance as possible for all suppliers, and even making your decorations. It’s nice to spend the last month or so not completely stressed out on last-minute things.
Don’t stress if people drop out – it’s not the end of the world!
What a phenomenal day!
Alexa and Shaun, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your fabulous Beaconside House wedding story with us.
