Welcome to the warm and cosy wedding of Gaby and Matt. They tied the knot in the Autumn at Rossie on the Earn in Perthshire, Scotland. And, their day was just a dream.
I adore their autumnal colour scheme of deep orange teamed with greenery throughout their flower arrangments. They wore super stylish outfits, guests were treated to what sounded like a real feast, plus there was a ceilidh to ensure plenty of fun dancefloor moments.
From the flower clouds to the rustic table decorations and elegant candlelight, I defy you not to fall for their celebrations.
Thanks ever so much to Mint and Jasmine for kindly sharing with us their amazing shots. Enjoy them all.

We were on a family holiday in the North of Scotland round the corner from where Matt’s parents had gotten engaged 32 years previously.
Matt had planned a special dinner for just the two of us to go and celebrate our new jobs (so Gaby was not suspicious). This was followed by a sunset stroll along the shores of Loch Assynt by the ruins of Ardvreck Castle. Matt sneakily requested Gaby to face away to snap up sunset pics and when Gaby turned around, Matt was down on one knee.
It was such a beautiful location and the perfect sunset. Conveniently any other wanderers had disappeared from the ruins so we had the moment to ourselves!
When we thought about what we wanted our wedding day to look like 3 things sprang to mind: we wanted amazing food (and lots of it!), a relaxed yet fun atmosphere, and a ceilidh for the ages.
We wanted to take the rustic and cosy vibe of our venue and thread that throughout our décor, our food and our style. We really wanted to embrace the warmth of the autumnal atmosphere that inspired the wedding date and colour themes.
A really important factor for us was the sharing style of our food. We wanted our drinks, canapes, and evening meal to feel like a big family dinner with everyone getting stuck into their servings and feeling satisfied.

Rossie on the Earn in Perthshire.
Matt found Rossie on the Earn during a Google search for venues after weeks of feeling we couldn’t find the right one. Rossie on the Earn is a new venue with the first weddings having taking place in late Spring of 2022. Rossie on the Earn is located on a beautiful farm in the Perthshire countryside; it has incredible gardens, a brand-new barn and cottages you can book as well.
This venue was perfect for us as we had family travelling from all around Scotland (and other parts of the world) and being an hour’s drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh suited our guests well. A really key thing for us were also the beautiful gardens at Rossie, full of nature boasting of autumnal colours where we could get our pictures taken without having to leave our venue or guests for too long, since we wanted to spend as much time with our friends and family as we could. We were also aware that since there would be some guests visiting Scotland ever, this would be a great time to show it off!
The first time we visited the byre at Rossie on the Earn, it was still a building site and we had to wear hard hats to be shown around! The owners of Rossie on the Earn, Leonie and Matt, are incredibly creative and passionate about the project and really brought to life their visions when showing us around the venue. We really loved that the venue was a family project and really appreciated Leonie’s ideas, advice, and candour throughout the showing and for the rest of our planning once we had booked.
The bye at Rossie on the Earn has three spacious rooms and the detailing was the perfect touch of rustic and warm that we were searching for, as well, it was a space we could really personalise and utilise to our own desires. It was perfect that we and our families would be able to stay at the venue for the weekend as the hire covers 3 days and the 5 cottages booked with the venue are equally cosy and full of lovely character. The 3-day hire also meant we could spend the day before the wedding setting up with the bridal party and rehearsing without adding travel and stress to the weekend.

We had a religious ceremony filled with contributions from friends and family. The minister performing the ceremony has known my family (bride) for years. We were fortunate to have a group of friends who were willing to play as a band during the ceremony to accompany the hymns and do the readings for us which was really special.
The background music for the ceremony was also a compiled list of songs from our favourite tv shows and movies which was a special touch for us.

The styling and décor for the venue was really important to us and we were so lucky that the space we hired was already beautifully crafted, matching our aesthetic and was very flexible to decorate. We had to make minimal efforts to make the venue look good as it was already perfect!
When selecting our furniture and décor, we wanted a style that complimented the rustic beauty of our venue and so we decided to opt for colours that would draw out the autumnal landscape and natural tones of the countryside.
We wanted to create lounging areas where the seating areas would reflect the vintage and boho vibes we felt the venue had and we loved. Our vision was to create pockets of comfort and opportunity for guests to relax and enjoy different options of areas. Whether it was standing by barrels close to the bar, on garden chairs outside by the fire pit, lounging on the big sofas or taking pictures at our fun neon sign. We hired these items from multiple suppliers and arranged them around the venue to bring our visions to life.
For our guest book, we opted to hire a phone that would record our guests’ messages and well wishes that we could listen back to for years to come. This was a really fun and different idea but I would urge those hiring this to appoint someone other than the groom to remember to turn this on and not risk forgetting about it until the evening like we did!
The florals we chose were out of a desire to add greenery and relaxed features around the venue. We were particularly lucky that our florist indulged our whims and created the amazing flower clouds that became a really special feature of the day. Matt’s mum even kept the clouds for a month after the wedding in her garden! Our florist was amazing at seeing a vision we very badly described and produced the loveliest bouquets, arch foliage, table foliage, etc. that complimented all our chosen colours and the rustic theme of the wedding.
We also HAVE to mention our caterers who also provided styling of the tables. They provided us with an incredible meal, a cornucopia of food at the grazing table during the reception, and tasty doughnuts and pretzels for the evening treats. We were really passionate about having enough food throughout the day so that people would not feel hungry and frustrated between waiting for things and our caterers made sure to meet that criteria. They were incredibly patient and willing to work to our desires and found creative solutions to our requests.
We were also very lucky to have a friend provide the cakes and amazing cheeses to create a cheese cake tower that wowed all our guests. The cheese was a gift that kept on giving as we were also able to enjoy it during our little honeymoon!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Aga and Olly from Mint and Jasmine join us as photographers for our engagement photo shoot and for the wedding, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results!
From our very first conversations, Aga took the time to get to know us and to understand our vision for our wedding day and worked with us to ensure that our photographs perfectly captured the love, joy and excitement of our day.
We wanted the atmosphere of the day to be captured and we’re so glad we can look at the pictures and see how everyone was feeling. We loved how much Aga got involved, getting right into the ceilidh to snap up so many fun pictures. Aga truly helped to make the process as relaxing and as fun as possible and was always available if we had any questions or ideas.
When our photos came through, we were blown away! Aga and Olly captured every special moment of the day, both big and small, with each shot as stunning as the next. Our friends and family have loved looking through the photos and we have received so many messages saying how amazing they all are and how they truly captured the essence of the day.

My wedding dress is from La Novia in Edinburgh. I picked this dress accompanied by my mum and sister. This was the second wedding dress shop we’d visited that day and despite my ‘I’m only looking not making any decisions today’ attitude, I walked out of the shop having bought the perfect dress. I chose the dress because I felt the shape was so flattering and I adored the detailing on the dress as I’d never seen anything like it before! It was elegant and simple but with a little something to it.
I also was very set on not having a veil as I felt it was not for me since I’d be taking it off after a couple of hours and I wanted something else that could provide a pop of colour. After much searching, I found Luna and Wild and ordered a bespoke dried flower crown that would match the autumnal wedding palette. It was absolutely perfect and I still love it so much, plus it was very comfortable to wear all day!
Matt wore a kilt hired from MacGreggor and MacDuff and chose it because he liked the tartan.
I wanted the bridesmaids’ dresses to all be different because I loved being able to show off our autumnal palette through them and it also guaranteed each bridesmaid liked her dress (as they chose it) and felt comfortable in them – plus it was fun to have them wear something different!

We spent a few days in a house in Aberfeldy. The scenery was amazing, as was the house and hot tub. We wanted to have a relaxed few days after the wedding to rest and just enjoy time together without the stress of travel abroad. The days were filled with good food and great whiskey.
We have a honeymoon planned abroad later this year which we’re very excited about.
Some of our most memorable moments of the day include almost missing our first dance! We had agreed with our band ahead of time that we would make our grand entrance through the barn doors as they announced us in for our first dance, but on our way to the entrance, we got caught up saying our goodbyes to the caterers. Moments later we were sprinting through the wind and the rain as we could hear the band on the speakers calling us in, barely making it to the doors as they opened up for us!
Another stand-out moment from the day was during the wedding toasts. One of our closest friends unexpectedly took to the front accompanied by one of our other friends with a guitar, and proceeded to serenade us and all our guests with a hilarious and heartfelt song she wrote about us and our early dating years to the tune of Taylor Swifts ‘Love Story’. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Do a ‘minimoon’ after the wedding if you can. We discussed this a lot but due to advice that we would be exhausted after the wedding, we wanted just to be able to chill without feeling we were wasting money on a nice trip or the experience of a new place. It was also exhausting even thinking about planning a trip when planning a wedding! This was a great decision as we not only will be totally ready for our proper honeymoon later but we could also save a bit more money towards this.
Also remember that while it’s an important day, it’s one day of hanging out with friends and family. Everyone attending is rooting for you and wants you to have a good time, most guests won’t remember things like fonts or colours of napkins. Things will go wrong. You either won’t care or you won’t be told so don’t worry about it.
We also were firm on doing things we would enjoy and did not follow traditions we weren’t bothered about. We didn’t do a cake cutting as I personally was not interested in having people crowding with their phones around us for a cake, plus I wanted to actually enjoy eating the cake instead of just seeing pictures of it!
