It’s time to share the enchanting love story of Anna and Jon, whose intimate and cheerful destination wedding in Sicily was a celebration of pure love and joy.
Against the backdrop of the stunning views at Baglio Strafalcello, their ceremony was simply magical, with the couple surrounded by pretty white, green, and yellow flowers and all their nearest and dearest in sunny Sicily.
With bridesmaids in yellow dresses, tables adorned with lemons, gorgeous attire and a magical atmosphere created by candles and a festoon light canopy in the outdoor courtyard reception, every detail was filled with fresh prettiness.
Thanks ever so much to Anna Vlasiuk Photography for very kindly sharing with us these striking images of one very special destination wedding.

I was living in London with some friends when one of them got a job in a new city. We were looking for a replacement housemate and Jon answered my advert! Soon after we started dating.
At some point Jon told me to book an annual leave, and a week before he did a power point presentation of everywhere we were going to go. We started in Suffolk which is where I spent a lot of my childhood, he proposed by the beach, then we celebrated in the pub. He then took me to Portugal and Seville so we could carry on celebrating!

Sicily was our first ever holiday together and we completely fell in love with it! We love the coastline, the architecture, the people and most importantly, the food. We were sat in a cafe in Taormina when a wedding party went past and we realised we wanted to get married and it had to be Sicily!

Jon and I had very different ideas about where we wanted to get married – he wanted a castle and I wanted the sea!
The view is stunning and you can see all the way down to the sea. The venue itself was so intimate, we loved the drive up into the hills and the courtyard felt like a fairytale. Our wonderful wedding planner Ksenia really brought it to life and we could see how stunning the sunset would be as we got married there!

My wedding gown was light and airy, It was Jules Abella.
I loved that it felt really light and perfect to wear in the Sicilian sunshine, and the slit meant I could dance the night away!
Jon was wearing a light beige casual suit and a crisp white t-shirt with a tie, whereas his groomsmen had light blue jackets with yellow tie bows – small accents that complemented the bridesmaids’ light yellow dresses.

We opted for local seasonal flowers that were meant to create a casual, spontaneous look, as if they were just collected in the garden: English roses, hydrangeas, small chamomillas. For greenery, we used lots of olive branches collected around the venue. Bright yellow lemons scattered here and there along the tables complemented the Sicilian style of the wedding. Also, lemons and maiolica ornaments were the two graphic elements that we used for all the stationery items.
We also had personalised fans with our portraits, yellow on one side and green on the other, that we used for a quiz game about us.
Cassata is probably the most famous Sicilian cake. Our wedding cake was a 3-tier Sicilian cassata, made rigorously with fresh ricotta cheese and candied fruits, using the same recipe that local nuns kept for ages in secret!

A local Sicilian live band “Seltz, Limone e Sale” created a cheerful and upbeat atmosphere. ABBA classics took centre stage, from the moment of my walking down the aisle until the night disco under the stars, with guests singing and dancing along to beloved disco hits of the 80s that brought everyone to their feet.
The last song of the night – That’s Amore by Dean Martin – gathered all the guests in a circle, dancing around us, and that was such a touching moment!

Anna Vlasiuk was our wedding photographer. We liked her timeless images and their post-production natural colours. She was also guiding us in a very easy-going manner to get spontaneous pictures.

We stayed in Sicily after the wedding to explore the island together with our families and some friends.

Our wedding planner Ksenia, did an unbelievable job from start to finish. The day after the wedding we had all our guests on the beach at Tonnara Di Scopello, which was such an incredible way for them all to meet, and we felt like VIPS!
We also had a welcome party with a pub quiz, all our friends really got to know each other before the wedding but there were some sore heads the next day! Then finally, for the service itself, we were looking along the valley, all our guests were out in the sun and our friends performed the most incredible rendition of Harvest Moon by Neil Young.

If you plan a destination wedding, hire a local wedding planner with good knowledge of the territory and a network of trusted contacts. In this case, you can be sure that your wedding planning process is a pleasant journey towards your special day.
Then, on the day of the wedding, seeing all the food and flowers…they were all stunning, and Ksenia had thought about every last detail. She made the wedding of our dreams and the day would have been impossible without her!

Goodness, how beautiful!
