I’m so excited to share the fabulous wedding of Julia & Michael that took place at the beautiful Sripanwa Phuket, and captured by Thailand wedding photographer LoveDezign.

Do tell us about the couple

Julia and Michael are coming from Hong Kong. They met while studying at the same university in the USA and continued to work there. Both are easy-going and cheerful. The night before the wedding, they hosted a pool party with friends from around the world. The party was a blast, featuring a game called “Who Is?” where guests drew lots describing a personality trait or breakthrough event related to someone. If their guess was wrong, they had to jump into the pool. It was hilarious!

Please tell us a little bit about the day and how it went

I had been dreaming of photographing a wedding at Sripanwa for a long time. The wedding venue, Baba Nest, offers a spectacular view and is one of the most beautiful destination wedding locations in Thailand. Located on the rooftop, it allows you to enjoy the sunset. Baba Nest’s wrap-around infinity pool encircles the rooftop deck, providing panoramic views of the surrounding islands, the Andaman Sea, and Phuket’s southeastern peninsula.

“Baba” is a Persian term used in South Asian cultures, meaning father, grandfather, or wise old man. While it often refers to an elderly man, it is also used affectionately to describe someone with love and care.

We met Julia and Michael the day before the wedding. It’s always great to meet couples we have worked with before. We met their family and friends, including the bridesmaids and groomsmen, at a private villa and took photographs of them. Julia’s best friend had made a wedding dress for her for the pre-wedding photos. Julia and the bridesmaids also wanted to take some fun bikini shots with her friends, which turned out incredibly cute and fun.

We spent a few hours photographing at the beach and the pier. After dinner, we returned to the villa for the party photography. Michael had written hint notes for a game. Each guest received a short note describing a story or characteristic of someone they might know. If the answer was wrong, the guest had to jump into the pool or throw the loser into the water. It was hilarious.

The groomsmen were particularly cheeky and had prepared a surprise cake for Julia. It was a six-pack cake, and Julia had to eat a testicle-shaped part of it. It was a lot of fun!

On the wedding day, we came up in the afternoon and spending time at Baba Nest. We took the photograph and video shot here. The sky was so clear that day. They are such a lucky couple. The ceremony started from tea ceremony at the villa. Julia looked so beautiful in red qipao embroider in peony. I’ve never seen it before. After that Julia changed it to the white wedding dress with a long veil. She looked stunning and ready for the wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony started at 5.00 pm – ring ceremony, exchanging vows, champagne toasting and cake cutting. The sunset was so beautiful when all guests release the balloons. The wedding reception and after party was held at Baba pool club and end up about midnight.
