Douglas and Brielle are kindly sharing with us their outstanding Aldea Ka’an Tulum wedding in beautiful Mexico. What an honour it is to be sharing a glimpse of their romantic five-day extravaganza.
They envisioned an intimate day surrounded by 40 of their nearest and dearest that wasn’t just one day, but a full experience. Doesn’t it all sound just dreamy? Well, it really was.
From the rich, warm flowers to the tropical styling and sensational outfits, you’ll love their wedding day style. Not to mention the special pool ceremony, sparklers, first look and late-night dip. Wow.
Bamba Photography, thanks ever so much for sharing these tremendous images, they are stunning. Enjoy every little detail below.

The proposal was nothing short of amazing! Douglas flew us out to Tulum, Mexico for the weekend and rented out the cutest little private villa. Douglas planned a dinner at an amazing restaurant at the strip in Tulum.
After a delicious meal and a great atmosphere, we headed back to the villa where a pianist, vocalist and violinist played beautiful music. As I walked in, there were rose petals and candles leading from the entrance and surrounding the private pool.
As the musicians played their sweet music, Douglas got down on one knee and proposed. Without hesitation, I accepted, and we danced the night away under the cabana.

Our vision was to have a romantic and intimate wedding where we could incorporate Tulum’s beautiful tropical landscape.

Initially, we didn’t have a budget as we were completely unaware of wedding costs and didn’t have a clear vision of what we wanted for our wedding day.
But after all the meetings with our wonderful wedding planner, the food, decorations, boat rentals, transportation, venue, etc., we were all in around USD 60,000 for the five-day stay for a little over 40 guests.

Douglas and I decided we wanted to have a wedding experience, not just a wedding day. Our vision was to have our close family and friends embark on our new journey together while spending much-needed time with each other.
To achieve this, we booked five homes on the same property (Aldea Ka’an Tulum Instagram: @aldeakaan) for five days where would can all intermingle, relax by the pool, etc.

We wanted a romantic and intimate experience that incorporated the landscape that is native to Tulum.
We wanted a neutral theme with a small pop of color that would bring warmth to the ceremony.

We wanted an intimate ceremony where we could showcase our love and mix our different music styles.
The ceremony was held over the clear bridge atop the pool where our bridesmaids and groomsmen stood beside us. Our guests were meticulously placed in wooden benches among the trees and natural landscape of the property.

We spent our honeymoon in Bali, Indonesia for a week where we got to experience the Balinese culture and live among the trees in one of their amazing treehouses.
We visited many temples, different art districts and got to see one of their cultural fire and dance shows in Uluwatu.

One of the most memorable moments was dancing at the reception among our many friends and family. It felt like nothing else in the world mattered but everyone’s willingness to let go and enjoy each other’s company.
Of course, since there was a pool at the venue, we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to make even more memorable moments by jumping in and swag surfing in the pool. I can still remember seeing the silver sparkles from my dress glistening in the pool under the many party lights.

Wedding planning is a hectic time so it’s normal to get overwhelmed. If you feel yourself stressing about so many of the small things, take a step back, take a breather and ask yourselves if you’re going to remember the font of the stationery that you spent hours looking for.
Your wedding day is only the beginning of the wonderful journey you will embark on with your spouse, enjoy all of life’s moments!

Oh so beautiful!
