There really is nothing better than seeing a real wedding that truly represents the couple themselves. This beautifully authentic and genuine vintage wedding really does have it all. It has so much personality, style and grace that you’ll be lusting over the seaside and antique treasures for sure.
WWW readers Andrew and Janet were hitched on the 30th September 2017 at Worthing Pier in West Sussex. As keen 1930’s enthusiasts they of course planned a day that included their love for the bygone era; the venue is a 1930’s building, Janet wore a stunning original vintage 1930’s gown and the details and décor all gave a nod to the Art Deco style. There are just so many wonderful touches, from the amazing moon photo booth to the exquisite hair and make up look and amazing paper goods.
A super gorgeous couple, a remarkably wonderful celebration and all captured perfectly by Claire Macintyre Photography. Thanks for sharing Claire.

THE PROPOSAL | Bride’s favourite Art Deco restaurant in London, with a beautiful early 20th century ring.
THE VISION | We are both 1930s-1940’s obsessives, who met swing dancing. We live in a 1930’s authentic flat, and spend our time hunting for antiques, records and vintage clothes. We wanted a wedding that combined all of that whilst keeping it as authentic and vintage as we could. From the venue itself (1930s pier) through to the menu we chose (fish and chips!).
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We planned it ourselves, starting in January. Regular wedmin session over tea and cake in cafes.
THE VENUE | Worthing Pier, Worthing
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Original 1930’s dress with puff sleeves, pointed at wrists, and train.
FINDING THE DRESS | Original 1930’s dress from the lovely Helena at Heavenly Vintage Brides, plus original 1930’s headpiece and veil.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Late 1930’s British 3 piece suit purchased at Twinwood Vintage Festival.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Reading 1 “Valentine” by John Fuller, Reading 2 Cheek to Cheek by Irving Berlin. Swing jazz standards on Piano by David Bennett.
THE FLOWERS | Greenfingers Florist, Worthing. Bouquet modelled on 1930’s wedding photos. blue hydrangeas and cream flower posies for the table flowers.
THE CAKE | Art Deco pale details, with an original 1940’s cake topper from the USA. Carrot cake, chocolate cake and traditional fruit cake top layer.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Claire Macintyre Photography.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Pale blues and yellow, to fit with the seaside colours and those of the venue.
Original invites and place setting and seating plan artwork by Muriel and Me.
Homemade place settings with vintage postcards of seaside towns, in 1940’s cherry picker paper cups found in an antique shop.
Vintage embroidered tablecloths supplied by numerous family friends!
White chair drapes with tissue paper rosettes.
Favours were personalised wedding fans.
Telegrams for messages to write notes to bride and groom, all contained in vintage suitcases.
Personalised napkins with Art Deco motif.
Vintage style paper moon photo booth made by prop designer friends.
Vintage country bunting.
Vintage ice cream truck.
Food by Hardings.
THE HONEYMOON | Nashville and New Orleans for swing dancing next year.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The first dance, which was choreographed swing dance with our close friends that we made whilst being in a swing dance dance troupe together. And looking out to sea taking our vows!
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Wedmin in the months before is nicer and more productive if you combine it with coffee and cake in a cafe, and get out of the house!
The day itself will be a blur, make sure you take time out to enjoy it – and each other!
The day doesn’t have to be a marathon, if you want a short wedding, have one!
