As part of a brand new series here on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, I want to start featuring a focus on different types of venues. I know just how hard and large of a decision it can be to choose a wedding venue, so I want to be here to inspire and guide you. First up, we’re looking at characterful, historic barn venues.
Now if you are a regular visitor to my pages, you’ll know I just love a barn wedding, in fact, I’ve featured hundreds of barn weddings on the site, I’m super lucky I know. There is just something about the rustic beams, high ceilings and surrounding countryside that make my heart sing. They are just perfect for beautiful country weddings and it’s no wonder they are proving more and more popular.
New barn wedding venues are popping up all the time, to accommodate for their high demand. They are usually a blank canvas, which means no matter your theme or vibe they can suit your day.

I love how characterful Bassmead Manor Barns is, I mean just look at those beams and the rustic wooden floor. Positioned in a medieval moat, the venue is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

This Natural Trust property is bursting with charm and country style. Airedale Barn really is a breathtaking space and it can be transformed with decorations and lighting aplenty too.

Once a working dairy farm The Cow Shed is now a venue based in Crail. It also boasts being 90% powered by wind, solar and recycled battery, perfect for eco-conscious couples.
