Botanical Beauty Abandoned Greenhouse Wedding Ideas

This fine Sunday we are honoured to share these dreamy, ethereal and whimsical set of images. Inspired by a strikingly beautiful abandoned greenhouse, the styling for this editorial shoot was wild, natural and pared back. An organic backdrop emerged from the greenhouse doorway, which was adorned with swathes of foliage, greenery and dusky pink blooms. The floral arrangements lent themselves to this style throughout and really tied together all of the elements. Inspiring calligraphy wording was intertwined with silk ribbons, a delicate grey/blue gown and a show-stopping cake. Oh my!

Botanical Beauty

“The naked skeletal structure of an abandoned greenhouse provided a focal point and inspiration for this styled shoot. Once loved and cherished by the eccentric owner of this formerly well tended estate it was clear to us all that it deserved to be preserved pictorially before it’s faded beauty is lost forever. Chantal and Scott of The Gibsons Photography portray an effortlessly natural style in their imagery and have captured both the Scottish landscape and their subjects sympathetically and beautifully.

Over the years the rusting and rotting carcass has given way to the magnificence of nature and the native flora has permeated the structure. The doorway was adorned simply and sympathetically as the season dictated. The very last vestiges of winter call for evergreens and neutral florals as the trees, still in their dormancy showed no sign of waking from their slumber. To Julie of Curious Arrangement, floral design is deeply personal and she is stopped in her tracks by the movement of a vine or the perfectly imperfect beauty of a bloom. Her work reflects this, often wild and disheveled as opposed to production line perfect.

A reverential nod was given to the raw aesthetic and brutalist nature of the neglected factory building adjacent, in the twiggy bouquet with plant dyed silk ribbons complementing the soft tones of the late winter afternoon and all that the Scottish climate gave unrelentingly. Gorgeous umbrellas and classic willow storage baskets are available for the whole wedding party or for intimate elopements when you need to grab your partners hand and take a few minutes together in the cool, fresh air to reconnect.

The soft tones of never-ending expanse of grey, wintery skies were reflected in the bridal separates by bespoke dressmaker Flossy and Dossy. A voluminous tulle skirt, complimented by a delicate camisole and intricate lace top in dusty pale blue illustrate the diversity of choice available to todays bride looking for alternatives to the traditional dress.

Mistress of understated glamour, Lesley of Pamper and Polish, styled the bride in a natural manner with loose, flowing locks and an ethereal make up palette in soft peachy tones.

The accessories were elegant, hand wired pieces in gold by Susan Dick Jewellery and Bridal Accessories. The fine, spidery detail, further accentuating the natural beauty in the surrounding landscape.

The majestic cake by artisan baker Suzanne Esper Cakes was decorated with fresh flowers and foliage paying homage to the botanical theme and the long neglected greenhouse which formerly hosted similar beauty. Its ivy covered facade was singled out by modern calligrapher Laura Elizabeth Patrick as the individual element which inspired her colour choice for the written vows. With an abundance of the evergreen vine Laura’s artwork blended into the surroundings and influenced photography Chartal’s creativity to produce a wonderful double exposure, on site, in camera!”
