Buongiorno and happy weekend to you! This morning we are featuring an elegant photo shoot organised by a creative team of wedding professionals that took place in Lake Como, Italy. If a destination is good enough for George Clooney to live in, it’s certainly good enough for us.
The venue, Villa Geno, is wedding heaven. That amazing water fountain, historic building, vintage furniture and those views. Crikey. I’m going to try and highlight my favourite elements of this inspirational shoot, but there are many.
Firstly, I am in awe of that Kikka Spose bridal gown. The illusion back, lace and tulle totally pop in the photos and it’s so feminine. The colour palette is also a favourite for me – gold, light blue, copper and neutrals. I must also make special mention of the cake – part classic, part modern with those über cool handmade roses and green leaves. It perfectly matches the chosen colours and theme of the day. The flowers were also stunning and I particularly like the use of eucalyptus (I promise it’s not just because I’m an Aussie).
Thank you so much for sharing your hard work and ideas with us today, genius vendors. Huge thanks to Lilly Red Photography for the images and your words below:
“Ciao, I am a professional wedding photographer based in San Francisco, but I’m not originally from this vibrant city.
Lake Como in Italy is my home town. It is where I grew up and consider it to be my home. The lake sits on the Italy-Swiss border, dotted with small, idyllic towns and villas along the coast and throughout the surrounding mountains.
Alessia, a very talented baker from Como, contacted me. She was putting together a team of creatives for a wedding inspiration session she wanted to do at a lovely villa on Como Lake. One of my big dreams is to be able to photograph on Como Lake, to be able to show people the beauty of where I come from. And it just so happened that I was going to be in Italy for MY wedding at the same time 🙂“

“Our wedding planner, Leandra, is from Lugano, Switzerland, another idyllic city along the lake. She was able to truly understand the soul of our inspiration session: elegant, timeless, almost from another era, with a touch of luxury that brings out the character of Lake Como and of our historical villa.“
“We concentrated mainly in shades of nude and natural colours with a touch of light blue, copper and gold, green and sparkling accents. A neutral colour palette with a touch of a vintage light blue made the perfect compliment with the historical architecture and refined finish of Villa Geno.“

“The table setting has a modern champagne sequin tablecloth and was designed to match with the vintage glasses and plates. Light blue, porcelain dishes with gold cutlery accompanied by old chandeliers and gold rose prisms gave the table a unique touch. The stationery was written on handmade Italian recycled paper, with touches of gold on an ivory colour.”
“The wedding cake was stunning and exactly matching the theme of the colour palette. The soft gold, merged into the light blue, surrounded by green leaves, and the handmade white roses on top illustrated the true skill and passion of Alessia. The groom’s cake was finely decorated in minimalist details that created a silk effect all around. Other little goodies helped to create a chic dessert table where all the little bites together made a huge feast.“

“The bride wore a long dress with lace on the top and tulle along the skirt, with a transparent back that gave femininity to her figure. She waited for her handsome groom on the pier, outstretched into the water of the lake.“

“The flowers provided the romantic touch and colourful frame for the photos. Roses were coupled with different types of eucalyptus to provide some contrast. The bouquet was wrapped in a long piece of light blue velvet, that flew around with the breeze from the lake.”
“We worked hard to make this inspiration a reality and during that incredible day, even the rain contributed to the atmosphere of the day. The delicate decorations and soft colours, together with floral hints on the pier and overlooking the magnificent Como Lake from this historical villa, all created our modern yet timeless wedding inspiration.“
