Just as honouring old family customs can be a meaningful way to tell your story, so can growing new ones as the generations change. The lovely Stephanie and Conrad chose to leave their native Brooklyn to have their wedding in the groom’s grandfather’s back yard – a peaceful hideaway in Vermont enveloped by babbling brooks, majestic pine trees, and vast open hills facing the mountains.
The couple treated their loved ones to a relaxed outdoor celebration with breathtaking views, delicious food, and plentiful details. Starting from the playfully pink bespoke dress, the “otters in love” cake topper, the “build your own popcorn” station, the scattered riddles, and the bubble-blowing area – we just adore how lovingly the couple built a day full of family love, surprises, and magic. As the day turned into night, fireworks were set off across the hill, against a backdrop of mouthwatering BBQ scents, bonfire wood-smoke, and joyful dancing amidst the trees.
While beautiful styling is a large part of the inspiration we look to share with our readers, at the very heart of it all is the uncontrollable joy and love of two families united – that is something that this wedding is simply bursting with, and it makes us so, so very happy. We cannot thank Novella Photography enough for sharing these breathtaking images with us.
Enjoy!

Stephanie and Conrad are Brooklyn residents who decided to partake in a growing family tradition: to get married in Conrad’s grandfather’s back yard. With a clear stream, giant pines, and wide open hills facing the mountains, this secluded spot in Vermont is definitely a family treasure. We felt really lucky to be welcomed there and to be chosen to capture this spectacular event.
Conrad and Stephanie had no specific theme other than a fun day outside with great views, great food, and great people. Stephanie’s gorgeous and playful dress (with a pop of light pink!) was custom made by her friend Betsy from Betsy Wise Bridal. It truly reflected her carefree spirit, and served as the perfect compliment to the look of uncontainable joy and excitement that persisted on her face throughout the day.
We kept busy capturing so many meaningful traditions and playful personal touches, like the “otters in love” cake topper, “build your own popcorn” station, riddles, and bubble-blowing area to entertain guests. After a delicious fresh dinner of BBQ and local comfort food, Conrad’s grandfather surprised us by performing a song. As the day turned into night they started up the bonfire and set off fireworks across the hill.
