WWW readers Laura and Jamie are bringing all the bright, happy vibes today with their super cool colourful wedding.
Their day was full of meaning and was centred around family. The result was a really relaxed, fun and personal day filled with smiles. Of course, I adore the bright colours, awesome lyric backdrop, confetti moment and all the summery flowers. Wow.
Look out for stunning outfits, dreamy countryside portraits and cute balloon centrepieces. Thanks ever so much to Amy Elizabeth Photo for kindly sharing with us these totally epic images.
Major inspiration for themes, styles, colours etc and the pure joy of looking at other people’s amazing days!

Jamie knows how much I LOVE Christmas so said he’d always planned a Christmas proposal. However, conveniently, our little girl Ada decided to make an appearance on Christmas day so now Christmas day will always be her day!
So he proposed a few days before Christmas, I came home to what can only be described as a winter wonderland in our house, he’d ‘thrown’ Christmas everywhere, decorations, lights, music etc. When I got further into the house having no idea what was going on, he was down on one knee with Ada too with a ring.
Of course, I said yes, we stuffed our faces with Christmas food that he’d made and spent the rest of the festive period in birthday and engagement fever!
We had a backdrop of song lyrics from ‘Fairytale of New York’ by the Pogues at the wedding which was the song playing when Jamie proposed.

I absolutely love anything bright and colourful (Jamie comes along for the ride, sometimes against his own will) so that’s what the day had to be!
We don’t like a lot of fuss and attention so wanted to get the formalities done and dusted and then just have a really relaxed day with all our friends and family, amazing food, music, games and laughter.
Food is huge to us so we focused a lot of the day on that, and tried to make sure everyone just had a really lovely chilled day.

We originally wanted to do the whole ‘in a field off-grid’ wedding but soon discovered it just wasn’t going to work in terms of getting everything in place to be able to have the food and vibe we wanted. So we set about finding a venue that was as close to that as possible.
The Old Stables in Swithland was perfect for this, a huge open space where we could get married outside, spend the day outside but it had an indoor base that we could use if we needed it and to give our guests comfort in terms of relaxing, eating etc.

We got married under an open-sided capri tent in the baking sunshine. My dad walked our little one, Ada, down the aisle first and then came back to get me, with ‘Baby I Need Your Loving’ playing by the 4 Tops as it was a song we played over and over during a holiday in Portugal.
When we walked back as a married couple, ‘Time for Heroes’ by the Libertines played which is one of our favourites.
My brother is a DJ so he did all of our music which we loved, was so nice to have him doing it as music was also a big part of the day. We had it playing all day outside where we spent most of the day. The rest of the music was a mix of 80s and indie mainly and we trusted him with free reign to play whatever he thought suited as the day panned out.

Jamie wore an amazing dark blue and brown suede suit, which was so him, very traditional, and he’s always looked so handsome in a suit!
I wore a Morilee dress which was a fairly simple A-line dress with vintage lace at the bottom but some fun little daisies on the straps to make it a bit less formal. He had his grandma’s engagement ring in his pocket during the day that his Mum gave to him for the day.
I wore a full colour floral crown with bright ribbons running down my back, my daughter Ada wore a very similar hairpiece and looked so beautiful! I wore a necklace that my grandad gave to me to wear that was the last piece of jewellery he bought for my grandma which meant so much.
My mum and dad gave me some beautiful earrings and my best friends bought me a bracelet with our birthstones in. On the morning of the wedding Jamie had given my mum matching rainbow-coloured bracelets for me and Ada to wear. All the little touches meant so much to me.

Amy is incredible!! It was a pleasure having her with us on the day and we couldn’t have been happier with her photos!

Our theme was bright and colourful, fun and happy, nothing too formal or heavily styled.
We made the majority of our decorations (thanks Mum!) which included woollen pompoms on the chairs, ribbon bunting everywhere, loads of random mismatched colourful bud vases with pom poms in, bright colourful flower displays with trailing coloured ribbons, flower corsages for all my friends, huge coloured orb balloons, a giant backdrop with song lyrics on from Jamie’s proposal.
We had lawn games, giant bubble wands, a help-yourself snack station for the kids, and little kids packs for the ceremony to keep the little ones entertained
The flowers were incredible, all the colours and textures, with trailing ribbons on my bouquet and floral crown.

We went straight off for a couple of days on the east coast, the weather was incredible and we just basked in memories of the day. Our proper honeymoon is in Amsterdam later this year!

We didn’t have bridesmaids and best men but instead asked our best friends to be part of special sections of the day. My best friends came to see me before the ceremony and I gave them all a flower corsage in bright colours. Jamie and his best friends went out for breakfast before they got ready together.
Our food was a big help-yourself BBQ and we went all out on having as many dishes as possible with all the sides so that there was plenty of choice for everyone. We didn’t have a seating plan, people could help themselves when they were ready and sit wherever they wanted, inside, outside, under the tent which meant it was just really relaxed and informal. We had an ice cream bike afterwards with all the toppings and I think everyone loved that! In the evening we had wood-fired pizzas and American cookies.
We’ve always had campervans and love camping so our wedding car was an old split-screen VW – such a babe!
My mum is always the one making sure everyone is OK, and on the wedding morning she made me and Amy our photographer chicken salad cobs. I remember standing eating them in the kitchen laughing with my Mum how we always do and I just loved that it was just such an us moment on such a big day.
My dad walking me down the aisle was so incredibly emotional for me, especially when he walked Ada down too. He’s always been there for me in so many ways and I was so grateful that he was able to do that on our day.
We had lots of kids at the wedding as so many of our friends have kids the same age as our daughter. They absolutely made the day. They played all day, their laughter filled the field and seeing Ada so happy made the day exactly what we wanted it to be – a family day full of love and happiness.
Jamie and I went for a walk later in the day and we barely took breath trying to catch up on everything that we’d done in the morning when getting ready separately. All the little bits from the day that each other might have missed and how brilliant everything was. I will always remember that moment, where we were just in a bubble looking back at all of our guests enjoying themselves whilst we laughed and joked about all the little goings on.

Have the day that you both want. Yes, there are formalities that you need to factor in, but don’t feel you have to do anything else if it’s not for you! I really can’t stress that enough.
Our guests loved that we had a day that reflected us as a family and that feedback was everything to us.

What an utter dream!
Laura and Jamie, thank you both so much for sharing with us your cool colourful wedding story.
